Hello all, haven't posted much lately as I have been trying to declutter the black dog that's been hanging around my neck 😟 Add to that I've had an eye infection and a mouth abscess too. So I've decluttered £'s to my dentist this morning for a gum problem and now I'm on 2 types of anti b's plus I have another appointment for next week. She was amazed at the state of a wisdom tooth on my x-ray which has never come through, but is apparently embedded in my jaw bone and lying on it's side, think she might send the x-ray to "Ripley's believe it or not ! " as she hasn't seen anything like that for a very, very long time... I could be famous !! 😁Today we braved a sm, first time for about 18mths, as I wanted to buy DH a birthday cake, normally I would make it but I can't face making it at present. Sadly very few young people were wearing masks ( it is still law here for any indoor settings ) All us oldies were wearing them, it was an eerie experience and I was very nervous to see so many "half" faces after all this time 😨This week I have put in the ongoing cs bag 2 DVD's, 3 more PS2 games and some biscuit cutters, which are no longer needed as I have rather a lot. Who needs 4 sets of star cutters ? I have also emptied the washing basket and mowed the lawns. Please don't mention the ironing basket which is now full to bursting....... Oh how I hate ironing 😖Tomorrow my toy boy catches me up and we will both then be officially O.A.P's 🤣 I have put some money in his card because he still can't decide which new phone he wants and he's had months to choose 🙄 and we will go out to our local garden centre for lunch, it's very quiet there.I'm sorry that a lot of people are having so many differing troubles on here so I shall send my love and copious hugs 🧡🧡nan xx

@EnergyShifter that really is wonderful news, I am so happy for you.
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger thank you for my medal, DH knows to steer clear when I 'get on one' with the house
While I remember....
I assume that 'Justins' are items you keep 'just in case', but what are Frogs and Neutral Items?
4 more items into the CS bag today, and all of my EBay listing for the toddler's clothes is done!!!
After 3 weeks whatever hasn't sold goes in the CS bag so will soon be out of the house.
DH has also given me a load of his items to sell on EBay which will definitely clear some clutter and is extra useful as anything I sell on EBay goes into a pot for buying clothes for DD. I get some of these from EBay which makes a nice circle, we also have a very good second hand children's shop in town which generally has some really nice items in.

I'm back but not in any sort of groove yet and feeling a bit manky. Although today's lateral flow test was negative, the covid study I've been contributing to have asked me to do a PCR test Justin Case so I'm waiting for that to arrive tomorrow and the results to turn up. I've emailed everybody I was due to work for between now and Sunday...‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Great news Energy shifter.Well hall and landing are clear - significant progress on the front room and a bit in the kitchen but a very long way to go on the panic tidying. No way will it be done by the time my friend appears tomorrow even with me not working tomorrow. right - must go and try and make a bit more progress.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons9

Many thanks for my gold star Mrs SD. I’m just preparing the last of the neutral items to be shipped out to the organiser and then that’s it for this year. Beginning to see empty storage boxes
305. Candle holder binned after being broken by the cats
306. Hospital cream binned after being broken by the cats and the skin cream exploded everywhere. It was a nightmare
307. Contact lens solution of DDs-recycling
308. Big bag of plastics dropped off at recycling point
There are more items, just can’t remember at the minute. Head like a sieve!!Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Wednesday has been another hot dry day. DSis really not feeling well - I woke up about 8:00 a.m & she was in the bath - just water & had been there about 90 minutes. She has spent all day in her room except for bathroom visits & trips to kitchen for hot/cold drinks. DH was supposed to have a telephone consultation about his heart - but guess what - yes you are correct - he waited 80 minutes but no call. He then contacted the hospital. Apparently the doctor had not sent the ECG results to the consultant so the appointment was cancelled BUT 😡 no-one bothered to let DH know 😡. Now he has to start the whole rigmarole again & will probably have to have another ECG 😡 This morning I had a bath & then headed off to the dentist - 15 minutes late as I misjudged travel time. Very disheartened to see Tube users are being ignorant - only about 40% were wearing masks 😖 Anyway the reason for the dentist visit was to have a tooth extracted. Injecting the anaesthetic was a bit painful but the tooth removal was over & done with in about 30 seconds 🙂 Minimal bleeding 🙂 - as opposed to last time I had a tooth removed 😬 The bill was more 😣 £65 😔 Did advise dentist that I had had an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin & he advised I was not the first of his patients to become allergic recently 😔 Apparently the drug companies have changed or had to change the coating ingredients 🤔 Dinner was everyone for themselves - DSis nothing, DH a couple of mackerel sandwiches & me a cream cheese sandwich & a tin of rice pudding 😉 Fine drizzle started about 9:45 p.m. - I hope it rains a bit more as I didn’t water the garden ☹️

3secondmemory, all I can do is offer a huge virtual hug 🤗 As to the onset of autumn & winter all you can do is make your preparations - food, clothing & medicines + making sure you have hobbies to occupy you. Re the cruise, all you can do is make the decision that you are most comfortable with. I really do wish that I could do something, anything for you ☹️ but please continue to post as sometimes seeing your worries written down can help to clarify your thinking 🤞
Well done on tackling a frog Liverpool_Anne 👏
Well done on tackling the laundry mountain ruby_eskimo 👏
nannywindow, hopefully you have managed to banish black dog for a while🤞 The eye infection & abcess weren’t much help either ☹️ Sending you hugs 🤗 & a gentle reminder to ease up a little. Another one with a toyboy 😉 my DH is 2 years younger than me & will be 60 later this year 🙂 As to a present I have no idea as he usually buys what he wants when he wants + he hates surprise parties 🤔 Well done on keeping up with the decluttering 👏
You are welcome Finstickle 🙂 You are correct about Justins & I see short_bird has pointed you towards an explanation of ‘frogs’. As to neutral items - my understanding is that they are items collected for a specific reason (e.g. for charity) & then despatched 🤞
Great work on filling your CS bag & listing all the toddler clothing 👏 Fingers crossed that it all sells 🤞and well done to your DH for getting on board the Decluttering Charabanc 🙂 one medal 🏅 for him 😉
Sorry you are feeling a bit ‘manky’ short_bird. ‘Manky’ is a rather descriptive word along with ‘bleugh’ - when you just can’t quite put your finger on what the problem is. Fingers crossed that your PCR test comes back negative 🤞
skogar, please don’t stress about the tidying - I am sure your friend is coming to see you 🙂 not make an inspection of your home 😉
Excellent work on the neutral items Happy_Kitties 👏 Am I correct in thinking you are a bit ahead this year? Well done on the normal decluttering - just pop in when you remember the other bits 😉

Hi Folks, just popping in to say we both have Covid. Both feeling pretty rough but thankfully not as bad as it can be for some people.
Love,no hugs ! Vx:10 -
Hugs to all who are struggling or feeling poorly.
just checking in to say that I tried on my navy shoes and my black ones (exactly same style)… and realised the black ones are a size smaller and no wonder I was reluctant to let go of other shoes! So those will go to charity whilst i search for some In my proper size… wide fit is such a pain to find nicer styles in.
so the navy ones stay for a bit.
also, decided I am unlikely to put the effort in to sell my Cornish salty make rain coat … so rather than donate to charity have found a friend who would very much appreciate the gift. Just need to arrange to meet and give to her to try on.Used a good web site with bra measurement calculator and so have ditched four ill fitting bras and trialling the size they suggest instead.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?9 -
Vulpix sorry to read about your covid, I hope it's a very mild bout for you both. I will send virtual hugs.Energyshifter glad to read that your DS is home, I hope he goes from strength to strength.MrsSD ouch to the tooth and the money. Seems a lot of people on MSE have been to the dentist for treatment this week, very strange, must be something in the water ! Hugs to your DSis and I hope she gets better soon. Grrr to the hospital for not calling, they seem to be a law unto themselves lately..... ask me how I know 🤬 There's a report on our new hospital of an 18 hrs wait in A&E 😱. It was supposed to take the weight off the 3 old ones, so it's not working from where I'm standing, in fact it's 10 x worse. We're out to lunch in a mo to celebrate DH's birthday , so some more moths will exit my purse 🤣. However it's for a good cause and I will also benefit of course !Take care allnan

Sorry about the Covid @Vulpix - hope for a quick recovery. I am carrying on wearing a mask whenever I think it is appropriate but lots of people aren't and lots are not keeping space.
Yesterday I took myself out to favourite antique centre and bought lunch - 15 miles but it was so hot driving there and back. I bought 2 postcards for my collection, resisted all the lovely glass but was tempted by a history pamphlet about quite local houses. I thought everything in box was £2 each but closer examination showed whole box of some 40 items was £2. Guess it was from house clearance or something as lots of tour itineraries but also guide books for several places I haven't visited that are easy for a day trip. I found space on my existing shelf for about 20 of interest and put the other items in today's recycling.
Got up late as finished a book I was reading then hour's hard labour in garden but its too hot to do more. I have a border at back of garden along fence about 35 feet wide and varying from 3 feet to 6 feet deep. I have magnolia at one end and plum tree at the other with various bushes between. Below them there is a mass of random plants and self seeded things. At one end I have lily of the valley which have spread from the one plant I bought with me from last house 22 years ago. They remind me of my childhood garden where we had lots. I keep saying I will dig it all up and start again but don't think I'll ever do it so decided on cosmetic makeover. All bushed trimmed and ground area 90% cleared of foliage. Pulled weeds out along the way but just left the other roots. The area is 6 inches lower than lawn with railway sleeper edging so I plan to spread all compost from this year's vegetable pots across the area 3-4 inches deep and plant bulbs in new top soil. Most of my plants and probably some weeds I missed will grow through but it will look better I think. I will need to buy some compost/soil I think to finish but pleased with first bit I have completed ready for bulbs. Will do more tomorrow.
1462 - Random weeding
1463 - Emptied finished vegetable pots for garden plan above
1464 - Cleared 90% of foliage to ground level in flower bed
1465 - Rounded up paper from house to recycle
Having a cup of tea then I might tackle a couple of small frogs.
Hugs to all who need them.
