@Mrs SD, you can also use crab apples to make jam if you are inclined. Just chop the apples and boil up with equal weight sugar and strain through jam bag or muslin, very yummy.
@EnergyShifter , good news on DS and work front, hugs
@vulpix if you are that unhappy you are doing the right thing, there is nothing worse than dreading going into work, especially if you don't need to. Do make sure to explain why you are leaving and maybe they will realise what the problem is and deal with it, you can but hope.
Out for lunch today so very little done apart from wu from breakfast, pots watered after the lovely sunny weather and knitting while watching telly this evening. I think the antibiotics are starting to work as I do have a bit more energy today.
1bag of rubbish from my bedroom, 1bag of paper recycling and bathroom bin emptied.
Take care everyone10 -
Thank you folks. My boss does know the problems and is very supportive but... he can only work with what he has which is immature people in their 20's. I feel like I am turning into Victor Meldrew and I don't like it.

Mrs SD, thankyou for my medal, and my friend says she`s tickled pink at being awarded one without even joining!Energy Shifter, great news about your DS, hope he continues to be well again, Bless`im.Well, I`ve finally managed to replace the plain jute rug that little dog ate 3 of the corners of, when he was new from the rescue kennels 2 years ago and didn`t know any better. He knows better now, of course. I`ve put the new rug and another slightly narrower jute one down in livingroom, and it looks very rustic and autumnal. I`ve got some small natural wool ones for under feet in front of armchairs and sofa, just for winter cosiness, on top of the jute, but not putting them out yet.I`ve given up indoor activity for a few days as it`s so hot, and I`m trying to make the most of this last bit of summer pottering outside. There`s still a lot to doI`ve completely filled green wheelie bin, and well pressed down, all hand-pulled nettles but many more out there. I`ve also started a pile to wilt down and go in the bin after it gets emptied. It should make picking apples and spotting decent windfalls a bit easier.8

@Emm-in-a-pickle. I laughed at your tale of the dog and the jute rug. Many years ago (50 I think as we got our puppy in 1971) we were making an awkward family visit with our Labrador puppy. He eventually lay down quietly on hearth rug and we thought he was behaving. To our horror when he eventually stood up he'd been lying there with the edge of the jute hearth rug in his mouth quietly munching and there was a dog mouth sized piece missing.
Resisted going out and ate a few frogs instead.

@balabooberlies extra hugs to you and hope you have some time for yourself ..... I know you've been caring for your Dad for a long time, and for me it's relatively short and I'm exhausted (although DD1 a big factor).

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Tuesday has been hot, hot, hot - sooo happy 😆 hopefully my tomatoes will go red 🤞
Finally folded & put away clothes + emptied airing cupboard & sorted bedding & towels 🙂 then repopulated the airing cupboard. Very pleased with myself as it was on my To Do list 😉 One set of old bedding kept out for use as furniture covers when decorating. DSis went out shopping. DH & I had another session out in the garden (wearing our hats & drinking plenty) - the right hand side is done 🙂 DH has laid first paving slab. Hedge trimmed - top, front & sides, lower branches of hedge cut away, weeded & hoed under the hedge. DH washed out the birds water bowls. Pruned dahlia, miniature rose & silver birch tree. More importantly we tidied up all the pruned bits 😉 & I watered the garden. The 3 of us then sat out in the sunshine for a while - chatting & drinking tea or coffee. Dinner was lo cheesy pasta with sliced tomatoes on top baked in oven. Wudupa. Unfortunately DSis is unwell - has got overheated - bearing in mind she lived in the south of France for nearly 20 years 😔 However she could go indoors & get cool - Stone built farmhouse - not so good in winter but ideal in the summer 🙂
1691 - 1695 Kitchen recycling, plastic bottle, drinks cans, cardboard box, newspaper - recycled
1696 Kitchen detritus - binned
vulpix, so sorry you are feeling dreadful. Everything crossed that it is not covid 🤞Please don’t get cross with yourself vulpix. Sounds like the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back ☹️ Whatever you decide remember work should not make you feel so bad 😔 you are not turning into Victor Meldrew - he never actually had anything to complain about 😉
Thanks skogar - yes I am fully recovered 🙂 Hope you had a lovely week away 🙂 The only trouble with putting stuff away so quickly after a holiday is that it is like putting away the memories 😉😉
Thanks Liverpool_Anne - depending on how many crab apples we get I might make jam 😉 Hope you enjoyed your lunch & glad the antibiotics are finally working. Well done on the decluttering & multitasking 👏
Emm-in-a-pickle, I like it - 2 happy people 🙂 Well done on replacing your jute mat 👏 I take it little dog doesn’t like the taste anymore 😉 Emm, pottering is a great way to enjoy the sunshine & get stuff done 👏 & you did get lots done 👏
GrannyKate, love the doggy tale 🙂 I am sure they know they are being naughty 😉 Excellent work on dealing with so many frogs 👏
Absolutely brilliant news EnergyShifter. So pleased that DS is home & I am wishing for steady progress & a full recovery 🙂 Please remember to look after yourself as well 🙂 Still decluttering 👏
TC77, please take care & just pop in when you can 🙂 Great decluttering 👏 & good luck with the rescue mission 🤞

Waiting for the sun to come up. Long days and long nights - nothing is really going to plan.I’ve got increased anxiety about autumn and another winter - the weather has been lovely but the light is fading and I think this year is going to be a real test. I don’t know what to do.I am not liking the options that I’m being offered by the cruise company so I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just put that on hold and buzz off on a last minute winter sun deal someplace alone.Eldest son arriving this evening for a flying visit - i’ve left everything to the last minute as usual11

I have just completed a major frog that I have been stressing about and avoiding for a couple of months, it was so easy in the end I don't know why I avoided it, but so pleased it is now done10

Morning all. So glad to hear your DS is now home @EnergyShifter hoping he continues to make progress at home.
Haven't managed to declutter much yet this week but I have managed to empty the laundry bin (and the associated mountain that was piled on top of it!) 😳 Thankful that the weather was so nice over the last couple of days to facilitate this! Now to try and keep on top of it before we go away in a couple of weeks. Oh and to put the clean clothes away that are now sitting in a mountain on the spare bed 😆Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201711
