@dumpling. I know exactly what you mean re perfectionism. I have only been giving away items I have made over the last few years. I have also given it all away and then reaccumilated. I am inagreement with the start small school of thought.
Give a small amount away just to get started. My charity shop benefited from a room full of stuff recently and it sold very quickly.
Maybe the stuff that doesn't age well like glues and stickies and anything you don't love anymore. As with the; selling as a job lot may be better than one or two at a time. Facebook group or gumtree so you don't pay fees.
Just thoughts. I am also a hoarder. I hoarded books, craft supplies and fabric and general stuff that I have no use for. Listing what I have been getting rid of here and getting the support plus my space back has given me a fantastic feeling.
It is a work in progress still.
Big hugs and good luck.

Good news. My friend has agreed to a plot merger. We met today and discussed what we both expected or planned which was pretty much the same for both of us. It is now going to be us against the world. Yay.
I am over there tomorrow to plant some stuff that has been waiting to go in and measure up. She tried to give me whole side but I said it might be better to leave a bed she has with raspberries in as I don't think I need that much space.

Good evening all
Thank you for being so so lovely, you have given me such good advice as well. Today I started small, clearing one shelf of my bookcase, only putting back the books I wanted to keep and now I have a small pile ready for selling to one of the online book buying places. and a lovely tidy shelf.
Tomorrow my sister is coming to see me so the kids have tidied and cleaned the living room and it looks much better. I will quickly clean the loo in the morning and I think we will pass muster.
Once she has gone I am also planning to tidy another shelf on the same bookcase or maybe the dining room table as it is full of stuff that doesn't belong on there.9 -
Thank you for your suggestions for a visit to the North East, I will enjoy researching them all. I have always wanted to go to Lindisfarne and also Alnwick castle and gardens. I will have to think about when we can go, and unless we can get a cat sitter it will be for a short trip only.
gemgem, you have made a cake and you have some left? This is out of my experience.
Dumpling,enjoy the space.
Bit by bit enjoy your new plot ,all the gain but with half the pain.
The paint has dried and it could do with another coat. Strange, same paint but new tin hasn't covered as well as the old tin. It will have to wait,I am busy now until at least Tuesday.
Back garden weeded and some plants potted on ,binned and potted up. I have reused a plastic tray that I bought pansies in to pot up some fox glove babies for my handyman. The front needs weeding desperately. I have some cobbles and they look most fetching with their many dandelion leaves in between.
Work for me tomorrow and a carboot sale on Sunday if it stays dry.

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILYFriday started out bright & quite sunny & warm. Breakfast (full Scottish) took a long while to arrive but the Dornie Hotel was fully booked so we didn’t mind too much as long as we didn’t get charged for late departure 😉 Returned to our room (7) finished packing, DH paid bill & whilst he was loading the bike I went to local shop & bought postcards & stamps. We finally set off about 10:15. Headed north, 1st landmark an old bridge, then headed further north & stopped at The Midge Bite Cafe on the A832 for coffee, cake & comfort break😉 The 4 young ladies were run off their feet 😱as it was so busy. Carried on north to Strathpeffer to photograph The Eagle Stone. This led to me joining the Clumsy Clara sorority 😉🙄 The Stone was down a fairly gently sloping uneven path through the woods with a switchback & a fairly steep slope up to the Stone. I followed DH there with no problems not even really out of breath 🙂 I decided to start back whilst DH was taking the photos. No problems on the steep downward slope but on the switchback I decided to stride along to gain momentum & keep the same pace up the slope. Huge mistake 🙄 tripped over a stone/lump on the uneven path crashed down onto my knees, flung out both hands to save myself 😱 Right hand escaped with a bit of scraped skin on the thumb pad & an achey elbow joint as arm was straight when I hit the deck 😔 My left hand was not so lucky - a half inch by an eighth of an inch scrape through at least 2 skin layers & bits of gravel imbedded including one largish piece which drew blood (an inch to the right of the thumb pad) DH heard me call out & found me sitting down, nursing my hand & feeling like a complete idiot 😔 He helped me up & we headed back to the bike. Fortunately I had remembered to pack a small first aid kit 👏 which had antiseptic wipes & large padded plasters. Managed to remove the largish bit of gravel & wipe away the blood seepage & covered with a plaster. Resumed our travel northward, travelled along the north coast road & arrived at our hotel in Melvich just before 6 p.m. Checked in, booked a table for dinner & went to our room (10) where joy of joys there is a bath & a separate shower 🥳👏 DH went out again to get 2 more landmarks whilst I ran myself a bath - he was gone less than 30 minutes. I had my bath & discovered I still had a few teeny, tiny bits of gravel imbedded. To avoid a potential trip to A&E I soaped the wound & firmly wiped with my other hand to remove all bits. Success 🙂 New plaster added, then whilst I was getting dressed DH showered. Camera battery died, so DH is having to use his phone. Sadness at dinner - I wanted the venison stew & DH wanted pizza with a venison topping (probably never on a menu again) - no venison ☹️☹️ DH still had a pizza but I had a humongous burger in a bun with fries & salad. We shared some toasted garlic focaccia as a starter. Our meals were delicious so we both got over the lack of venison. In our room by 9:15 p.m.
Wildlife: Cows (some on the road !), sheep (also some on road), horses, chicken, 3 hawks, lots of crows/rooks, 2 pied wagtails & a herd of deer in a field (presumably farmed rather than free range 😉)
Best sign: Wee camping ground
Sight of the day: The legs of a large scarecrow, supposedly seated & 2 hands clutching a large newspaper with the headline ‘Absolutely Everything Has Stopped’ 😉bit_by_bit, Thanks for the extra info about commemorative crowns 👏 Hopefully the allotment plot saga will have a proper conclusion - I believe you wanted to share a plot with your friend ? Good for you, joy at moving items on (even if not your own) is wonderful & I am sending a medal 🏅 your way.Excellent work OWD_nana 👏 Hopefully your gold star will be the first of many 🤞Congratulations on hitting your target greent 🥳 One Gold Star ⭐️ on its way. When I get home I will note your new target of 1250.Liverpool_Anne, DH & I are definitely fans of Arran - there is even talk of spending a couple of days there next year 🙂 What a marvellous experience - seeing a stag 🦌 that close will remain a beautiful memory & seeing a golden eagle 🦅 as well - wow 🤩 Forget the idea that you did not do much - the union work would be enough on its own but also batch prepping/cooking vegetables, packaging cosmetics samples, collecting meds & booking a further blood test. That is plenty 👏Good work oceanspirit 👏
Boo 3secondmemory ☹️ hopefully the Green collection will resume soon 🤞Great work on the mowing & reclaiming paving stones 👏
Well done Finstickle 👏 Good luck with the selling - hopefully all legitimate buyers & no time wasters allowed 🤞
Good work Happy_Kitties 👏 Enjoy the clutter free wet room 🙂
Great work short_bird 👏 steady progress 🙂 Sadly it was a typo 😉 & good for you finding it before I amended it 👏🙂 I think you should reward yourself with going to a gig if the weather is good 👍 just my opinion but I think you deserve a treat 🙂
Excellent decluttering retiredinfrance 👏 Having a great trip so far but apparently Saturday is rain, rain & more rain ☹️ Hopefully forecast is wrong 😉 I will need to investigate my list when I get back as I probably owe you a gold star 😉 I think I still have one XMas pudding for a treat 🙂
Good work EnergyShifter 👏 as above I might owe you an award but I will sort out when I get home 🙂Slowly catching up with the cheerleading 😉 I am on page 367 so will continue tomorrow 🙂MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🥇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1614/20212021 Savings Pot: £300.90 to end of AugustBe Kind. @vulpix if you make it to Alnwick Castle (one of our favourite places) then if you enjoy reading then try and take in Barter Books. Amazing! I live north east, somewhere between the coast and the countryside. It's a fabulous place. Even if I am biased and it is absolutely hoying it down with rain today.
The rain shall inspire me on as I am about to tackle the kitchen in readiness to paint (was going to do this today but was feeling very unwell yesterday so didn't get out for the paint). I need to cull the utility room of it's excess of food hoards and tidy the house. Hopefully that will give me many decluttering opportunities! I definitely feel as though Autumn is heading our way, which means replacing the slow cooker, batch cooking and plenty of nice foods.
My chest freezer is groaningly full so I guess that is another decluttering job to do, to make space for my back to work soups, easy slow cooker dump bags and early Xmas batch cooking!10
