Still decluttering but getting a wee bit slower. Ive just managed to sell some books that I had collected up and then Covid hit, so I kept on adding to the boxes and now they have gone. Hooray, I am now 100 euros richer, minus a not so small amount on petrol ( 12 ) but it was really good to get out for a long drive and a pleasant one. A grand day out. I am now going to keep on with this as it should ease my guilt about my CS habit. Well, not guilt exactly....
Also out
4 books to CS
9 books went to the bookdealer ( all the rest already counted)
1 magazine rack. I mentioned this in an earlier post as it was in the way of my shins - the blindingly obvious solution occurred to us and it is off to the CS.
3 bits of embroidery - taking the plunge here as I have a stash of this stuff- I used to collect it.
1 duvet cover- wrong size - why we kept it....? to CS
1 pile of emails deleted
1 ood Christmas pudding uu- really delicious. Only one left. There is so much stuff at Christmas that it is lovely to keep something for a wet summer day. I didnt put by enough.
Total 20 = 293+20=313/365

Good evening everyone
I'm afraid I joined this thread months ago and zero progress has been made. I have been made to feel uncomfortable after watching Nick Knowles' new programme on decluttering which aired this evening on Channel 5. I could empathise greatly with the family involved especially the mum who had let her crafting stuff take over the house. I looked around my living room and also the dining room which are full of my wool and card making stuff and when I go to bed there will be a tower of plastic boxes also filled with wool waiting to greet me. I am feeling very overwhelmed with it all and need to start making decisions about what to do with it.
Three years ago I had my first bout of sepsis and when I survived that and returned home I gave away all my knitting wool, patterns and stuffing etc. In the last three years I have accumulated even more than before. My name is Dumpling and I am a hoarder.
What would help me lots is knowing what to do with all my stuff. I can't afford to give it all away again but to sell it all seems too daunting. I have literally hundreds of dies to make cards, drawers of papers and cards, let alone all the glues, glitters etc that mostly have not been opened or used. I don't really want to make cards anymore as I am a perfectionist surprisingly enough and I always expect a negative reaction to any cards I make as they are homemade and not 'perfect'.
I guess I am just posting to ask for suggestions.
Thank you for reading my waffling, take care x11 -
Hi @dumpling, long time no see!
I wonder if you have anyone in your family who could help you to sell your excess crafting equipment & materials, maybe for a small commission? You could perhaps sort it into Christmas & non-Christmas (- I bet Christmas stuff would sell now, as would bundles of glitter glue for kids.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILYThursday started grey & overcast but gradually brightened up with several long spells of blue skies & warm sunshine interspersed with overcast skies & about 15 minutes of light drizzle. Fried breakfast for both of us, coffee DH, tea for me + toast & marmalade. Left before 10:00 a.m. Left Campbeltown (after visiting Linda McCartney’s Memorial Garden) on a 20 mile round trip to the Kintyre Peninsula to see a wagon wheel love seat - sadly not much of it left ☹️ However on the way back to Campbeltown we saw a real live seal 🥳 originally thought it was another statue but this seal turned its head when it heard the motorbike 😉🙂 Headed off towards Oban & stopped off at a garage for a comfort break. A rather well thought out garage - sold petrol of course 😉 but also sold proper coffee, hot pies, good selection of magazines & groceries. Also had 4 picnic tables on a nice grassy area & located near a stream or should that be babbling brook 🙂 Made even better by blazing sunshine - we sat out in the sunshine drinking delicious coffee & sharing a very tasty pie & finishing yesterday’s Empire biscuit 😉 Oban was very pretty & we drove through heading to Fort William then on to Dornie. Beautiful hotel overlooking the Loch & a couple of hundred yards from the Castle which is all lit up at night 🙂 We had dinner in the bar - DH had langoustines then salmon fillet in a nice chilli tomato sauce with vegetables & potatoes 🤤 & I had mackerel pate with toasted pitta bread followed by a beef stew with a pastry lid, vegetables & chips 🤤 We shared a raspberry Cranachan. DH & I agreed that the mackerel pate was absolutely delicious 😋 Had a few beers & were in our room by 9:30 p.m.Wildlife list: cows, sheep, horses, chickens, ducks, swans, cormorants & a SEAL 🦭🙂
Sign of the day: Cats Crossing
Sights of the day: 1. A small statue of a Native American in full headdress holding a blue plastic kiddies fishing net. 2. A scarecrow dressed as a policeman & holding a hairdryer (aka speed radar) 😂
Great work TC77 👏 Helping out both DD1 & DD2 in suitable ways 😉
Such a shame 3secondmemory ☹️ The BoE have no idea - down the back of sofas 🙄 - I think £1.4 billion is probably in money boxes, piggy banks, terramundi pots, those huge whiskey bottles, old purses & change pots 🤣 Fingers crossed that you get a tidy sum in compensation for those potentially mis-sold reward accounts - every bit helps 🤞Good work with the decorating vulpix 👏 The last wall will be a doddle & think how pleased you will be when it is all finished 😉👏🙂 Do you decorate the whole house or just one room? If it is the whole house then you are perfectly entitled to keep all your Christmas decorations 😉😉😉Very useful information greent 👏 I remember the old money 😉 £sd - farthings, half pennies, pennies, thrup’nny bits, sixpences, shillings, florins, half crowns, crowns 😔 so much nicer than the decimal coins 😉 I also miss the ten bob note & the one pound note 🙂 I digress 😂Ouch GrannyKate 😣 but at least it is done 🙂 even if it looks like you have been fighting 😉 I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out in my twenties in hospital, as the roots were curled around in my jaw bone. I can see why you are done with BG & have accepted the slightly better than original offer. As long as you have a tent for the garden & paper plates & cups you haven’t over decluttered 😉😉Great decluttering ruby_eskimo 👏 A wardrobe that closes & 2 boxes that you can ‘shop from’ as you get fitter. A win, win 👏 I agree with your assessment - spare room wardrobe first - as 2 successes will set you up nicely for the big kitchen declutter & rearrangement 🙂
Great work Ellie79 👏 Love the word “cathartic” & a great way to describe feeling good 😉Lovely post daisy_1571 👏 & great decluttering 👏
Amazing decluttering Gers 👏 I find it hard enough to declutter my own paperwork let alone someone else’s with all the associated memories that can trip you up. Hope the Confirmation comes through swiftly 🤞
Good work Finstickle 👏Excellent work EnergyShifter 👏 especially the complaint 👏
Great work short_bird 👏

Remember getting 10s note for my birthday and just googled to see what the equivalent would be but can only find what the note would be worth now. I know I could buy a poppee bead necklace and qtr lb of mint imperials were 7 old pence ( mum sent me to the corner shop.for her aged about 7).7

Sorry popper beads that snapped apart so you could.make bracelets or necklaces.8

Really trying hard to do a bit of decluttering every day, this week a small eBay sale and a half hour spent decanting bits of stuff in bottles into one. So 5 shower gel flavours mixed into the pump bottle that goes by the kitchen sink, and 4 nearly empty bottles of bleach (went a bit bleach mad in lockdown) into one. That was a bagful of plastic bottles into the recycling. Also "kindly donated" some shampoo and gel to lodger (aka Silent Man) who seemed grateful. I know it's still in the house but not in my space. Got a day off today so going to have a ruthless go through wardrobe. Wish me luck.Magnolia Stellata8
