Floss said:elsien said:...My decluttering mojo which was faltering anyway is now on life support courtesy of parent. I was quite pleased with the progress I’d made since the start of the year, but when we were talking about her getting a cleaner, she told me they’d take one look at my place and run a mile.
I told her she was being unkind, but am now feeling what’s the point if it makes no odds anyway.Thoroughly deflated about it all.
My mum used to get quite exasperated at my grubby, untidy, lived-in-by-teenagers home, but eventually conceded defeat and gave me a hankie embroidered with "Only dull women have tidy houses" 😁
Elsien, chin up. Just words. Own them or chuck 'em in the bin !
Mrs S.D. ....... sorry I haven't caught up on posts so didn't know about your fall.
Huge warm hug to you

@EnergyShifter just seen your list of items thrown out. Did you know the little card readers work on any card.
You might need to throw some others too
I apologise in advance if anyone starts to shake at me saying shredding books. These are just information/fun/fashion books. Not what I call proper books.( sorry about the font change I don't know how I've done this) I need to be radical about them. The waste is going to someone in the Village who needs it for some small animals, so it has another life and I know I can't put them back on the shelf!!
Making sure that all oddments found about the house are put back or in where they belong.
I need to be stern with myself about using what is in the freezer. I am a bit of a fan with the Too Good To Go app and have collected some really good stuff. This does keep the spending down however it is a nightmare for my freezer as I save stuff for later. I am still seriously thinking of getting another freezer it will be a drawer style one. Size? now that's a quandry.
Need to get the rhubarb down and diced ready for the freezer. Blackcurrants already in and waiting their transformation. A lady at work likes to make jam, I might ask her if she would like to make some for me and she can have half. (I've never done it yet!)
DH is ready to early retire at end of September due to his health issues, just need to know where to go with the finances to keep us afloat. He is on board with keeping stuff simple and frugal.Anything is better than nothing-check back and see

just back home for a few days. My intentions were to attack my awful mess but to be brutally honest I have done very little. I am exhausted. More mentally than anything else. Because of that came the 'stress eating' and I am carrying so much extra weight goodness knows when I will deal with that.I lost my dad earlier this year and it is still taking me a while to manage; just be gentle with yourself and don't try to do anything that you are not really ready for x

Mrs SD - hope you are starting to get a little stronger after your fall. Thankyou for always posting your
quote at the top of your comments. It reminds me to leave those kitchen counters tidy each night and I love how they look when I come downstairs. Could you perhaps put 'keep the whole house tidy' for me and I will see if that inspires me lol!10 -

To continue Saturday - although it rained practically all day somehow we managed to stay completely dry 🥳 The tale of the day is that we turned up somewhere to take a photo of the Harbour Barometer. Very disappointed to find that it was just a picture of the barometer ☹️ However the inscription was informative & advised that to prevent any damage, the barometer had been moved to the Village Hall. Quick drive around to find the VH & then a very fortuitous occurrence - 2 people just about to lock up. Leading to me turning on the charm & persuading them to allow DH to nip in with his RBR 2021 card & take a photo. We had a pleasant chat & they advised that due to Covid19 the VH had been mostly shut for 16 months & we were exceedingly lucky to have caught them. We also had to promise not to tell anyone - an easy promise to make as RBR rules state no discussion about current landmarks 😉 + it is vaguely competitive 😉😉 Arrived at the hotel about 5:30 p.m. to find a wedding party - lots of men in kilts 😉😉. Whilst DH was checking in I waited by the bike & met the young man looking very smart in his kilt who had been playing the bagpipes that we had heard on arrival. I was brazen & asked him if I could see his bagpipes up close 😮 er missis 😉 He humoured an old lady & showed me his bagpipes & explained that the bag (made from sheep’s skin) had to be treated regularly to keep it supple & prevent it from drying & cracking.
Showered & changed & went down to the bar for a drink before dinner. We were invaded by what sounded like screeching harpies - aka wedding guests who were avoiding the queues at their bar 😖 Anyway once we were taken upstairs to the dining room the noise was less evident. DH had Cullen skink followed by a trio of duck - 😋🤤 I had chicken liver parfait with chutney 🤤 which needed another bread roll in addition to the bits of toast to finish it off & yes I did share with DH 🙂 Then I got my venison - roasted to perfection - I was in seventh heaven 🤤😋 not so generous with the venison as only gave DH a tiny piece about the size of a small broad bean 😂 As the original wedding guests had disappeared we sat in the bar & had a couple more drinks & were then invaded by more wedding guests who were less screechy 😉 Lost my long post ☹️ Slept well.
Now it is midnight & I am off to bed. Will try to post Sunday’s shenanigans tomorrow a.m. 🤞
