1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Saturday has been a strange day - started with rain & a bit chilly, then cleared up dry with a bit of sun, then overcast & a very cold wind. It is now very cold. The switch for ndn’s leaf blower & vac finally arrived - unfortunately when DH put it in, it blew up the motor 😔 Oh well, DH tried but means ndn will need to buy a new one. Still managing to deal with my post immediately 🙂 I finally washed, prepped, blanched & froze the cabbage & all the hg chard. Not as much hg chard as I had hoped just 500g but it will do one dinner for 3 later in the year. I will be trying to grow some more 🤞 Have been watching the Olympics all day on & off & am currently watching skateboarding 🤔 not sure I think it is an Olympic sport 🤔 Dinner was bacon, oven chips, plum tomatoes, mushrooms with the addition of fried eggs for DH & me. Wu yet to be done ☹️1419 - 1420 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
1421 Kitchen detritus - binnedNow, now nannywindow insert wagging finger emoji keeping the daily clutter from gaining a foothold is just as important as getting rid of old clutter 🙂 Did you weigh your blackcurrants? I only ask because my 2nd blackberry bush is barren even after 3 years so might replace with a blackcurrant bush 😉 “As my Nan would say it'd be cheaper to keep his picture on the wall than to feed him. 🤣” I fell off the sofa when I read that 🤣 As to your DH keeping the motor from the broken fan as long as he is keeping it in his ‘space’ & out of your sight I think you can let him off 😉
Well done GrannyKate 👏 2 out of 4 frogs dealt with 👏 and a great find in the attic 🙂 No weddings in the pipeline? or do you buy a new hat each time 😉😉 Not sure I envy you 5 days with children 😉 not sure I would last 5 hours 😉😉Will be back shortly to continue 😉 Back again & Wudupa 🙂Wow bit_by_bit, you have done well 👏 Resisting temptation & a large declutter session 👏🙂EnergyShifter, dismembering bed springs counts as at least FIVE in my book 👏
mothernerd, isn’t it strange what we can class as a luxury 😉 Excellent decluttering 👏 Nice cousin 🙂 & hopefully your mum will pay more attention to him & give you a break 🤞Everything crossed that mum uses the handrail as surely it is safer than using the radiator 🙄MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 🥇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1421/20212021 Savings Pot: £225.90 to end of JulyBe Kind. Morning MrsSD and fellow declutterers,
First of all, thank you MrsSD for my medal and gold star from last week. The hard work is paying off, our daughter has got back into arts and crafts and has made a colourful set of clay figurines at her tidy(ish) desk. It will need a wipe down today to remove the clay off it 😄 she has an interest for art and it's nice to see that continue.
Well I tackled the problem of the bath screen in our attic head on. And I realised it was pointless to ask the local council to collect it. I also realised how 'deceptively spacious' a 20 reg plate Vauxhall Corsa is, so I got it in there with the back seats down and took it to the tip. Result. 🙂 Sometimes thinking about things too much can be dangerous, and my inner procrastinator was starting to rear its head on this screen, 'i'll get it done some day' so the bath screen went in the inert waste skip, also going to the tip were a couple of my wife's jumpers which had got threadbare, a watch from our daughter and a stopwatch which had given up long ago.
On the garden decluttering front, I decluttered a very large courgette to my gardening colleague for providing me with the manure to help this plant grow (and boy has it been productive). Made ratatouille already with courgette, curried it and more dishes are to come I think 😮
Had to declutter a tomato plant earlier in the week as the central trunk of the plant snapped in the heat. Three left, tomatoes are green at the moment and need to ripen. They are being fed every week, but it's hard going.
I have seen a couple of comments on hoarding as I have been trying to catch up. My personal thoughts are that purposeful decluttering is the way to go. Be ruthless, be bold. When you have a daughter who is growing up so quick and her imagination is going off in all directions, you have to give them choices of things to play with, learn from and develop. She has in the past had too much to work from and I think that can be a concern. So the continued attic declutter has to be my next challenge along with keeping on top of her bedroom. My wife cannot see this at the moment, if I'm being honest so I'm the one in our marriage who has to provide that order and structure to her play. So getting back to the start of this post, watching her create painted clay figurines at her desk makes me happy. Cheers 🙂10 -

Latest batch from here (and we are well on the way to the next 50)
DS2 is quite on board with it all - as long as we don't try and do too much in one day! I'm fine with that - especially given the heat that we have been working in and the size of his room. (DS3 is not so keen on the idea of tackling his.....)

Hi,
Got home late last night. Oh how lovely to come home to a tidy (up to a point) clean house. The wedding was in a derelict Priory. Ala Ross and Emily's wedding from Friends. I will whisper this... the wedding cost 27K. There were 50 guests. Very different from my son's wedding. Both lovely.
For the wedding I wore the dress that I bought for my Nephews wedding that in the end I didn't go to because of the rule of 15 guests. It's massive so will be washed and it can go. Mr V spent the day pulling his trousers up so the same for them and I think the shirt he wore the same fate.
Sorry 3 second memory I forgot to admire your new fence. You have put a lot of effort into your garden and now it is looking lovely.
Leelad you are a gem of a Dad and Husband. Your two ladies are very lucky to have you.
It is impressive how everyone just keeps chipping away at whatever is slowing us down.
One of my frogs is bearing fruit so to speak! At the side of my house is a wood with a stream. Yes beautiful but... A sizeable oak tree has started to push the retaining wall out where the stream appears. The land owner has been to asses with a tree surgeon, so progress; Nothing will happen overnight but still progress.
Mr V at work today so I will be pottering in the garden. I have built a raised bed from stone ,there's loads just lying in the garden. I have dug soil from one area and transplanted into the raised bed. I have put a few plants in there from the old house. This is a temporary home whilst the stone flags are being laid by the builder. No date yet but I need to be ready as he said he would come when other jobs come to a standstill because of materials shortages. My builder used to live on this street He moved the stairs which enabled him to have a loft room. When he comes next I think we will go for a loft room but without moving the stairs. I am still awaiting my other guy to come and make the outside toilet work.
My long term plan for this house is to have it as a holiday home. We would like a bungalow because of my arthritis. Bungalows here are like hens teeth, very rare so it might take years to get one. But it will take years to knock the cottage into shape. No rush.

Everyone very busy here.
I can happily report three bags to the CS today.
Dh and I went to a Vintage and antique fair and decluttered some money on coins. He collects. At least they are easy to store and he is very tidy.

Vulpix - that is one of the reasons we retired to France- extreme shortage of bungalows in our UK area and we kept saying " what would a bungalow cost in France?" so, here we are.
Very mixed weather here so a bit of gardening , a bit of inside activity and a bit of seeing to real life.
I had a rueful smile at the HMRC problems - I'm in the club too and have been more or less since I retired. Every two years they say I owe them a 4figure sum. I get it finally corrected -all in writing- it is fine for a year and then the error reoccurs again. The third time I was so fed up I wrote that my affairs are simple, I'm a pensioner, this is just so stressful. When it got corrected they sent me £50 as compensation for my complaint. It has just started again, but this time they say the four figure some is an overpayment a! I phoned to ask how to get the money directly into my account and I said I didnt understand the refund- the hmrc person didn't either. So they put a note on file and I sent a follow up letter asking for an explanation. I will let you know what happens!!.
So
3 empty light bulb packs
4 books from stash- I want to reduce this - they go to the CS
6 balls of yarn -as athe books
1 uu litre of shower gel used as soap at the sink. Really pleased it has gone as I didn't like the smell it was just MSE in action
1 packet of very ood raisins used up in my daily muesli.
1pile of emails
1 pair of insoles to bin.
total =21 = 291/365.
Given the troubles some of you, my friends, have, my hmrc is nothing much, so hugs for you all.
Keep safe everyone.8
