@vulpix, if I didn't know better I would say I know that lady. Ex science teacher who now works in my school, inherited 2 houses and has her own, all full to bursting. Her DH is just the same. She is retiring with me in 3 days and has invited me to visit her garden as there is nowhere to sit inside. She doesn't buy a lot of stuff as she is very frugal, just never throws anything away Justin. When I have sorted out my carp I will offer to help her sort hers but I know it will be an uphill battle. I also trained as a science teacher, do you think there is a theme developing here
Unfortunately things are starting to come into the house now, 1 box of chocs, 1 bunch of flowers and 1 teddy bear, gifts from pupils that I will have to deal with.
Kitchen rubbish out, another tube of hand cream uu along with a face cream sample uu.
Take care everyone8 -
Hmmm a bit of theme here with science teachers and being unable to throw stuff out. I think the nature of the job, teaching gives people no spare time. I was HLTA and had to plan my own lessons and that was hard enough to work, run a house and 2 kids. I also used to clean for 2 teachers, their houses were very messy. I just think they do a days work then have to work all evening and weekends. Something has to give. Same I think for many working people and people with health issues etc.
Spending car boot sale money. 2 new duvet sets for the spare beds (trundle).
Yesterday I tidied the house, went through the clothes on the rail and packed some up for future car boot ,all "stock" now in the shed.
Today I will clean and then potter in the garden. Oh I also need to excavate the pantry. Somewhere in this house is a plastic bag with essential bits for the cooker! Not able to use the oven until they are found.

I can’t wait til it gets a bit cooler so I can start watering the garden and having a play 😃
I asked them to leave the fence posts long because it gives me some extra hanging space and I’m probably going to put up some trellis.9 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Tuesday was another hot, hot day on the Isle of Dogs until 7:00 p.m. when we had a heavy shower lasting all of 15 minutes. DH was not so lucky 😭☹️ The parts for the water pump on the Harley Davidson had arrived & DH was booked in for the repair at a garage in Maidstone. He left home at 10:30 & dropped the bike off at 11:30. As it was a glorious day for riding he was given a courtesy bike (the work was going to take several hours). DH rode to Leysdown on Sea & picked up some rock, then on to his sister’s where he spent some time in the garden (enjoying the sunshine) catching up & having something to eat & drink. Suddenly realised what the time was so set off back to the workshop. A mile from his sister’s house he felt the first drop of rain & within 30 seconds his underpants were wet. The heavens opened & dumped all their rain in 35 minutes 😱 Apparently the journey down Bluebell Hill was horrendous as car drivers were still driving at 60/70 mph & sending tidal waves of water over DH’s feet & the rain was washing across the road about 6” deep. DH’s boots were proved to be waterproof as the water that poured into them from the top couldn’t drain away 😉 😛 His jeans got so wet that the water wicked all the way up his T-shirt. To add insult to injury when he arrived at the workshop there was at least a foot of water - so deep that he couldn’t tell where the road & kerb met & the workshop door’s had to be shut as the water was pouring in 😱 😬. So dripping wet, looking like a drowned rate & feeling miserable he waited in the sales office for the next 1.5 hours while the water gradually drained away. Mechanic then took the bike for a test drive to make sure the repair was good & DH finally left at about 6:00 p.m. and just to cap off his day he got home just as the rain started again 😔 Apart from his jacket, he draped every item of wet clothing over the bath, dried off & got redressed in DRY clothes. My day was spent knitting, watching old movies then a trip to sm when it cooled down a bit. Dinner was pork medallions in a mushroom Marsala sauce with boiled hg potatoes & mixed vegetables from the freezer. Delicious 😋 especially the hg potatoes 🙂 Wudupa.
Wednesday is another hot, sunny day but thankfully there is a cooling breeze & lots of white cloud 👏DH watered the garden this morning & is just getting ready to go to sm for cold drinks & a few bits of shopping. I have kept up with dealing with my post immediately 🙂1379 - 1383 Kitchen recycling, plastic bottle, cardboard packaging, 2 newspapers - recycled
1384 - 1386 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging, broken watch strap - binnedHope the dentist visit was successful GrannyKate 🤞 A good decluttering day 👏 Sounds like you had a lovely time swimming with the GCs. Excellent decluttering today 👏3secondmemory, Well done on persevering with the cancellation of MSE notification emails 👏 I know electronic apps are a wonder but when they go wrong it is such a pain ☹️ The fence looks beautiful 🤩 and what a great idea to leave the posts long 👏 very forwarding thinking 🙂👏Great work Finstickle 👏 & good luck with the selling 🤞bit_by_bit, Thank you so much for my Gold star ⭐️ (added to my sig 😉) 👏 & DH is really chuffed with his star especially after the day he had yesterday 👏 A momentous decision bit_by_bit & I wish you every success in disposing of the dressing up clothes 🤞
You are welcome vulpix 🙂 What a lovely chatty post & thank you for sharing 👏 Such a sad story but as you say hoarding is an illness & although help can be offered the hoarder has to accept that it is an illness ☹️ A vicious cycle. You must be counting your blessings that you managed to find a good builder such a long time ago 😉 Hopefully he is training apprentices to the same standard 🤞You don’t know how happy I was to read that the liquid food was snapped up by someone who needs it 😁 rather than someone hoping to make a few quid 😠 Enjoying a lie - you deserve it 👏🙂 Then back to working like a Trojan 😉 You are working really hard & being very successful in decluttering 👏 I do like the idea of you ‘excavating the pantry’ 🙂Great work EnergyShifter 👏
Great work Gem-gem 👏
Excellent work TC77 👏 What a great idea to note down moving frogs along as an incentive 👏Liverpool_Anne, maybe chatting about how good decluttering is making you feel will sow the seed to start your friend decluttering 😉 Lovely to receive little gifts from the children but I seem to remember when I was young if we bought a present for our teacher it was a joint effort - not lots of little items.Great work short_bird 👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 🥇 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1386/20212021 Savings Pot: £225.90 to end of JulyBe Kind. A few more from me this morning:
26-30 - 5 pairs of least favourute knickers
31 - pair of toddler tights
32 - toddler hoody
33 - all emails >2 years
i was going to do everything older than a year but then remembered tickets etc for events from last year that perhaps i had ordered previously but might need thanks to Covid.
knickers were thanks to buying some more at the weekend - determined to get to only having things i love right down to my underwear.
toddler items were due to something running in the wash, though tbf the hoody is 12-18mnths and she's now 2, only still fits at a pinch so that's gone to the material recycling now
