1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Try again 🤞 Apologies for being remiss in posting 😔 sheer laziness. DH was away 2 days & 1 night doing his Round Britain Rallying in the Peak District. Left 6:45 a.m. Tuesday & back 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. He had a great time as the weather was good. Dinner was steak & ale pie with lots of vegetables.
Tuesday & Wednesday the weather was very dreary but no rain to speak of. Lots of competition puzzles, reading, watching TV & knitting. Dinner for DSis & me was egg, bacon, oven chips & baked beans. Wudupa both days. Watered the garden Wednesday evening. Dinner was pork steaks, mash, carrots & broccoli.
Thursday was a brighter day. DH filled the bird feeders, did the usual Thursday sm trip & put the hinges on the new raised bed cage. I put away the shopping including portioning up meat for the freezer. More TV, reading & knitting. Dinner was burger & oven chips for DSis. Cheesy beans on toast for DH & me. Wudupa.
1255 - 1261 Kitchen recycling x 3, 2 newspapers, drinks cans x 2 - recycled
1262 - 1264 Kitchen detritus x 3 - binnedExcellent decluttering D123456789 👏 You must be looking forward to Grandma’s visit as it gives you the perfect excuse to declutter the guest room 😉😉What a shame bit_by_bit ☹️ Hopefully you can manage the repair 🤞As to the loose covers perhaps you can find somebody on t’internet 🤞Good work oceanspirit 👏Keep up the good work EnergyShifter 👏 Wool basket cleared - wow 🤩 Shame about your bank closing. (Must admit to liking FD - customer practically from start up 🙂)
Thanks for the info skogar 👏Party time TC77 😉 I bet you never thought the sofa would go 😔 I hope you took the 2 young men’s details - you may be able to donate more furniture to them 🤞 Re the other furniture how about picking your least liked piece - emptying & sorting contents, then contacting the 2 lads & seeing if they want it 😉 We are 2 peas in a pod TC77 focusing on what we will do rather than what we are doing - in my case nothing much 😉 Btw, what a lovely thing to say ☺️ The daily recycling & rubbish is a win - you are stopping clutter coming in 👏
Maintenance Mode is working 3secondmemory 👏 Gives us all hope & something to work towards 🙂 The joy of clear spaces/rooms shines through. Reading your post makes me grin from ear to ear 😁 - I just need to work as hard as you have clearing the clutter. I really must start writing ‘To Do’ lists & restart the Decluttering Bingo Card 😉
Btw congratulations on the win 👏
I second your observation elsien. If you manage to get tops that are comfortable around your arms they are miles too big everywhere else 😖 I really wish I could sew 😔 A lovely welcome to Liverpool_Anne & thank you for the compliment 👏
I bet she regrets getting rid newlywed😉
I will miss you short_bird ☹️ Looking forward to seeing you when life is less busy 🙂
Sorry I am late in welcoming you aboard Liverpool_Anne 👋 I am very happy that retiredinfrance pointed you in our direction. Hopefully we can offer support and encouragement to stop you feeling so overwhelmed 🤞 Everyone here has their own way of decluttering - we each mix & match various methods, some of us count items out, some of us use Marie Kondo or a Slob Comes Clean, To Do lists, decluttering Bingo Card, 15 minute fling boogie - there are so many ways to declutter that you just have to find one or many that suit you & keep you motivated. You have done so much work already that I am awarding you your first Gold Star ⭐️My tuppence worth is to sort out your pension paperwork & your ‘retirement’ from teaching. Re the missing personal documents, if you are unable to find them quickly you could order new copies - I know that adds more work to an already full plate but it would take the pressure off 🙂
I see from your 2nd post that you have already made a start & are feeling a little less overwhelmed 🙂👏 You managed to do more after your tea than I did all day - so a big pat on the back 👏 What wonderful news for your colleague - not that her sister having legionnaires isn’t worrying but as you say the relief is in knowing that proper treatment is available. No need to apologise for long posts - it often helps to write things down as it seems to clarify thought processes. Again welcome aboard Liverpool_Anne 👋
Nice to see you back GrannyKate 👏 What a remarkable man your brother is - it must be lovely to know that he is making the most of a bad lot. I see you have still found time for some decluttering 👏

This bloody cat! He is now taken to just sitting outside the house, in the road, calling up to my open window at 5.00 amIt’s embarrassing. People think I’m neglecting him! As if. This cat has fresh meat every day! Every time I make a cup of tea, I go to the front door to ask him if he’d like to come in, and he clearly doesn’t. The back door has been wide open since I woke up so he can come in and out, and eat his very expensive veterinary food but, no! He is now sat on my neighbour’s path asking to be let in their house. 🤦♀️I’m going to treat myself to a cup of coffee, put on my overalls (garden onesie) and continue the current mission. I am one third of the way through decluttering my rotten fence and my neighbor’s wall of ivy behind it.I’m hoping to get as much of it out for the garden refuse collection next week, as possible. It’s my birthday coming up so I’m adding things to my Amazon basket - a few plants, solar lights etc. Little things. I don’t want any of them spending ‘money, money’ on me, but if I don’t guide the boys, they don’t have a clue!I haven’t told any of them about my Holiday. The only person who knows is one of my nieces who lives nearby. She and I are planning to pull the best April fools prank on the kids ever ( my cruise is the 31st of March to the 7th of April) 😂😂😂
I thought it was Saturday, but I’ve just realised it’s Friday. I think that’s good because there were a couple of phone calls I didn’t get round to making yesterday, and I thought I’d have to leave it till Monday.Bonus day 😃
Coffee and garden. There is no better way to wake up8 -
Morning, Mrs SD good to see you, and you remind me I keep saying I must get back to knitting (have a stash of mismatch wool) and dozens of pairs of needles for some reason. Work today but while making coffee and wondering round the house had a revelation, about how I just pick up furniture from the BHS charity shop, and put it somewhere - never looks right and has random stuff on it. In hall have some shelves (really meant for a bathroom) so a bit wide and they have baskets on them with football socks, goggles, masks, work ID, handcream etc, but could fit in a much smaller space. Only narrow shelving I have is DD1 little bureau - painted colour which doesn't go in hall but is wrong in dining room. Can' t put in her old room as full of other stuff which I had hoped to get her to sort - but her mental health fragile (waiting for assessment) and she may move into a unfurnished/part furnished flat with her friend for 2nd year at uni. Long way round of saying I need to group things and work out what needs to be in an area, and then find best way of organising.
Work today, then out to drinks in the park so will be tomorrow but hopefully have a plan. Happy Friday all.
@3secondmemory - understand how annoying of your cat - is it Proud Charlie? one of mine ends up staying out after I stay up to wee hours trying to get it in but she has quiet meow . He's very lucky having you.8 -
329. Another belated birthday present handed over (I’ve been so bad this year)
330. Toilet brush holder I’ve had for years, lovely pottery cat one….it lost against the steamer and broke-binned
331. Mug broken by the cats-binned
332. A glut load of cardboard-recycling. Have another big box for next week aswell that I forgot to put out with the rest.

1184 old food out
1185 holey tights dad's
Drain man tomorrow

Set up new cs bag so hopefully over weekend it will start to fill up.7 -
Evening all, thank you for my star Mrs SD, lots sorted at work today, only 2 boxes left to go through, mainly union paperwork, most of which will go in the confidential waste and anything that really needs to be kept will put in the union locker I have at work and the key given to the lovely lady who has agreed to take over as a union contact.
Called at the chemist on my way home to pick up my ordered repeat prescription but it wasn't there and no notification sent through. I order it via t'internet and the surgery send it to my local chemist. Called the surgery to find out what the problem is. 20 minute wait in the queue to speak to them. Turns out they have started using a prescription service and the person who should have done mine went off sick on Tuesday when I put my order in. I suggested they not pay for the service as it was obviously rubbish with no system for other people to pick up the work if someone is sick. I was very polite as I know Drs receptionists can have a hard time sometimes and he did admit they had had quite a few complaints but sent my med request to the triage doctor so I should be able to pick it up tomorrow. After that I just cooked tea and collapsed on the sofa, didn't even manage to iron anything as I fell asleep and have crawled up to bed now.
I think you are right Mrs SD, the pension paperwork will have to be sorted and I will have to order copies of documents. I have held off from doing this as I was hoping to remember where I put them"safe" but I think I will have to admit defeat as my brain appears to have left the building
Take care everyone7 -
@TC77 I always remember you as a poster because TC stands for TopCat😂😂
proud Charlie is indeed a lucky boy. he is still very outdoorsy, I found him sleeping in a box on top of a hacksaw blade the other week. that reminds me, I didn’t cut the label off the cat bed that I bought him so I’m going to return that to home bargains 😂😂
I noticed a couple of other things like sorting out my repeat prescription – this thread is really good at reminding me.

3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Friday was a gloriously hot & sunny day with a cooling breeze. Perfect drying day 🙂👏 Two full loads of washing done, two full loads dried on whirligig 🥳 DH & I spent a couple of hours in the garden - yes DH wore a hat & we both kept hydrated 🙂 DH sorted out one of the removed fence panels - with the new wall the panel had to be adjusted so it would fit properly. DSis assisted for a while. My task for the day was to pinch out suckers & stake the tomato plants. Took my time - 20 plants of which only one has a flower. However they are looking healthy. I then weeded, moved a couple of plants & did some pruning - half the area designated as the flower bed. I will finish tomorrow. Dinner was a very yummy Chinese 😋 & all 3 of us have enough left for Saturday night’s dinner. I have also finished the first of three baby blankets. Wudupa.1265 - 1266 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
1267 - 1268 Kitchen detritus, garden detritus - binnedWhat a lovely day you had 3secondmemory 🙂 fussy cat notwithstanding 😉 Keep up the good work in the garden 👏 So pleased that you have one person sharing the secret of your cruise 🙂👏 Early birthday greetings & I hope you receive everything on your wish list 🤞 What a bonus - an extra day 😉😉 Surprising how many things we can pick up on from our lovely friends here on the thread 🙂👏
TC77, knitting is really for rainy days & cold evenings so I wouldn’t rush 😉 The only reason I am knitting is that there is a baby boy due in August, a baby boy due in September & another baby due in December which I am hoping will be a girl 🤞🤞
Looks like a great plan - hopefully you can identify a few items to go 🤞Hope you had a lovely time in the park 🙂 See you have already had one success & one partial success 👏
Great work Happy_Kitties 👏Excellent work Liverpool_Anne 👏 Hopefully the last 2 work boxes can be swiftly sorted 🤞 then you can concentrate on enjoying your last few weeks 🙂 Sorry about the problems with your prescription. My DSis has yet to receive her first medications delivery - filled in various digital forms, chatted to the doctor etc & so far the “swift & efficient service” she was supposed to receive has yet to materialise 😡
According to Murphy’s Law you will find your original documents the same day the copies arrive 😔MrsSD 🏅 🏅 🏅🏅 🏅 🏅 🏅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 1268/20212021 Savings Pot: £164.80 to end of JuneBe Kind.
