With the combination of paid work, assignments with an imminent completion date and a possible visit on Saturday to get the boiler inspected, probably won't be popping in over the next few days...‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Hi all, May I join you on your journey. My house is a mess. It started before covid when I decided the house needed some work so I have been completely rewired, replastered, New loft hatch with a proper ladder, new boiler and a new log burner. I packed up most of my belongings and a lot of furniture and put them in storage or in the conservatory, mainly books and some kitchen stuff. Then along came sheilding and everywhere shut so the kitchen and bathroom are still waiting to be sorted. I have decorated nearly everywhere and have carpets fitted in the 2 main bedrooms. So I got stuck in for months and couldn't go to look at flooring for the dinning room, lr or hall stairs and landing so bare floorboards for over a year plus my stuff is still in storage. When we come out of it all there are no workmen or materials available. Meanwhile I have had to buy some new stuff because I can't get into the storage place to get anything out. So last week I have finally organised for a boiler service and a check on a suspicious damp patch on the kitchen ceiling and wall, bathroom is above, move some stuff from in front of the boiler cupboard and think I will put it in my wardrobe and what do I find. MOTHS !!! So all my clothes have been washed and are now taking over the remaining space in the conservatory. I have sprayed some moth killer around, hoovered the carpet 3 times, beaten the bedside rug and am trying to find time to wipe down the picture rail and skirting boards before hoovering again and doing the ironing. Also I am finishing work after 25 years teaching in the same school in just over 3 weeks and am sorting stuff there as well. Lots of loose ends to tie up, things to pass over to various people and generally declutter. I am in early and home after 6 usually starving so straight into cooking tea and collapse. The garden is running away with itself. Also OH house which is currently standing empty after MIL passed needs completely redecorating and decluttering as OH plans to rent it. That garden at that house is 3 x bigger with a shed and 2 greenhouses and is being taken over with rambles. Also need to sort the paperwork for my pension and I have no idea where my birth, marriage and divorce papers are. Feeling slightly overwhelmed and I could do with a bit of support while I work through all this so hope you are happy to take me.
Got to go now or the tea will be burned.13 -

Hi all. Back from my short break away. I took oldest GS to my brothers down South and we visited some places he was interested in. We nearly lost my brother last year to recurrence of Big C and it was awful as we could not visit at all. So much worse for his wife and daughters. Sadly there is no cure or treatment this time but he has hung in there for over a year now and is able to do the things he enjoys with limitations. I was worried about tiring him but he said there was no point in being alive if you didn't live. Strange to venture out in my car and drive so far after being at home so long. GS1 is back home with me now and his mum fetches him on Saturday. He is good company as we have shared interests and he is marvellous with his small cousins.
Not much to report although my brother sorted and removed more stuff of late DH off my laptop so giving myself 10 marks for that.

Hi all, thanks for the welcome, I did try to read the board but I can't say I have remembered most of what I read. I was pointed this way by retiredinfrance from the fashion on the ration thread. I see most people seem to have set goals for the year but I am not sure that's the way for me, I think I would be demoralised if I missed my targets. I think I would like to set a goal at a time as one of my problems is that I am easily distracted from one task on to another so I want to get into the habit of finishing something properly then move on to the next iyswim. Task 1 is to finish deep cleaning my bedroom. I should say I have already taken out 2 bags of rubbish and 3 bags of paper recycling so that's a start. All I managed to do after tea was iron my clothes for work tomorrow and make a couple of personal phone calls to colleagues who are currently self isolating, one of my roles at work is being a union rep so staff welfare is a pretty high priority atm. 1 colleague has had some relatively good news in that her sister who is in hospital with suspected c19 has actually been found to have legionnaires, took them a few days to make the diagnosis and as they both care for their father who has dementia stress levels were quite high. I am taking this as a good thing as she will now get the right treatment and my colleagues stress levels will reduce. Sorry for the long ramblings but it has been a long few days and you have to hang on to the good stuff. Off to bed now, another long day tomorrow. Take care everyone.10

Liverpool_Anne, I don’t have goals or targets either. It’s whatever works for you.And I’m another one who can’t focus on anything during the week - I’m more of a weekend sorter outer. I just find it helps seeing what other people are doing - posting on here keeps me on the straight and narrow, as it were. And Mrs SD’s excellent cheer-leading obviously. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.8 -
