2021 MISSION DECLUTTER and CLEAN

A pile of LO clothes had started to collect in the charity bag, I added a walking singing toy dog which DH had hidden as it drove him crazy! And a fleece of mine as I was given a new one. Then I boxed up all my CDs, as there’s no real point in keeping 100s of CDs under the stairs not being used. I dropped them off at the charity shop so they are out the house already!Grandma will be coming to stay next week so I will be getting rid of anything that is decluttering the guest bedroom. We haven’t had guests since last March, so lots of things were getting put up there, so need to get it tidy and clean! Best get on whilst it’s miserable and raining!9

Thanks @mrssd. The dress was embroidered at work and when camping (its ok, not a mark that wasn't meant to be there). My friends all had a go but though.
The upholsterer doesn't do loose covers, only upholsters. She says that the strapping for the spring repairs will require her to remove all of the fabric and often it rips. I will find another way. I am still going to get loose covers anyway and see if I can do the strapping repair myself at a push. The hessian is already off and the strapping accessible. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
I will see if I can get a quote of someone else first though.
Nothing has left the house today.

Bit by bit. Lovely idea of using your wedding dress to make a loose cover for your chair? What is your chair like and where is the spring that is broken? There are some quite good videos on reupholstering chairs of that type. I'm afraid I have only reupholstered a chair with a drop in seat so no practical experience I'm afraid.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons8

1177 Sofa picked up . Yippee - been a couple of months finding a taker as so many people let me down (f/cycle and Freegle) but two young men were pleased as punch - 4 of them moving into unfurnished house. Saved from landfill. I now have a space in one room and everything else looks so crowded and overflowing and want more of that space. Our remaining sofas do not match each other or anything - bought as bargains and in 2 different rooms. Very hard to buy online things.
1178 emails and unsubscribing (seem to get subscribed to things automatically)
Hoping the new space will inspire me - realise how little of my furniture I like but this also tends to be the useful things (for storage)!10 -
Day 3 of Maintenance Mode!Instant reward this morning when I actually opened my mail instead of kidding myself ‘I’ll deal with it later’ - I won £5 on the action medical research lottery which I only signed up for last month!Another cheque to deposit and a big clap on the back for me. Every little counts!I sorted my freezer out last night and had to let go of a few bits that have been there for some time. Nasty looking! I can imagine it tasting of ‘freezer’I am enjoying seeing the results of my decluttering every time I walk into a room. I’ve still got a bit of deep cleaning to get on top of but I have large areas of the house that I’m really happy with 😃 I don’t actually have to do anything but I’m enjoying the bits I can actually do
i’m still coming across bits and pieces that, on further reflection, I don’t need. I’ve got another bag of clothes to go to the charity shop. I’m trying them on and they are all hanging off me. I need higher necks and covered arms, or something 🤪😂😂
it’s very overcast today so I’m going to start in the garden.Hope everyone has a productive day 😃12 -
I made an attempt to do a second sort of some tops as I’ve got no space to store them. Example - 2 oversized baggy fleeces that are my round the house ones. I could manage perfectly well with one but can’t bring myself to let one go. Hitting the same barrier with a lot of items and aren’t sure how to overcome it.
I think it’s because my older tops are just more comfortable- less fitted under the arms as most seem to be tighter nowadays which I really dislike. So the older ones are too tatty to be seen in public but are fine round the house/under another layer and the new ones are smarter but I don’t like wearing them unless I have to.
Stuck! All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.11 -
@elsien I had a friend who by mistake wore her house cardigan out with a group of friends by mistake… it had a hole in it and everything (i don’t think anyone noticed), she just put a coat on and went out… afterwards she decided to get rid of it so it didn’t happen again!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?9

@elsien spending so much time at home I've found a couple of house tops are fine ( but then I haven't solved my clutter problem). I'm focusing on things that are in good/ok.condition but which don't suit me or don't feel right and someone else can benefit from. No one would want my house comfy clothes
having said that the focus is on what I will do and not what I am doing.
