Today I emptied and packed the airing cupboard and my chest of drawers. I filled 2 more boxes in the kitchen but have now run out of banana boxes. I have recycled about 8 small cardboard boxes that I have saved for ages, before I knew we were moving as I might have found a use for them, obviously I didn't!
When packing I have the box to pack into,a charity shop bag, a carboot sale bag and rubbish and recycling bag.
Mr V came in from work and had a root in the shed and binned some stuff,no idea what but It is stuff that will not be moving with us. He has a day off on Sunday so I will pin him down and make him sort his chest of drawers out.
Just the studio to dismantle now and 2 more kitchen cupboards,oh and the contents of the island.
Seeing all your belongings in boxes stacked up concentrates the mind. I still feel like we have too much stuff. I am sure when I unpack at the other end I will get rid of more.
Arrgggg I just remembered there is masses of library shelving in the loft. Bought for the studio but never put up.
Tomorrow I am having a haircut and some pottering in the garden and crochet I think. Will update numbers tomorrow.
Love to all Vx

Hi, I usually just lurk here whenever I need the inspiration to actually get things (sorted) out and today I have removed 4 bags-for-life overfilled with old textiles from the attic to the boot of my car. I have filled another bag-for-life with charity shop stuff that was randomly chucked in the attic (in the same corner, but still, messily).I have emptied a small drawer in my ikea room divider; it contained so much stuff that actually has proper places to live! Some was thrown out/recycled, but most was just relocated. Now the drawer has breathing space again and a more or less clear definition of 'what lives here'.Someone on page 189 (or similar) suggested yootoob 'a slob comes clean'; she makes sense and is nice to have drawling in the background when I clear out stuff. So, THANK YOU!Edit 1:Husband is in Africa for 3 months on an extended family visit, working from 'home' the last month of that stay. I keep whatsapping him pictures of the trash he left behind with the question 'can this go?'. Usually, the answer is 'yes'. (so why didn't he throw it away last month/year?) Anyway, it's getting cleaner, so it's working.I have taken down the decorative plastic on the kitchen windows and now have an uninterrupted view of our backyard, which makes me very happy. Hsuband insisted on the plastic when we first had the new windows put in and the family behind us was rather eager to look at our house. Now we have nice size cherry trees and ivy blocking their view at the back of the garden, so the plastic was no longer needed, but was just never taken down. Somehow, husband being gone has woken me up and made me back into the little diesel engine I know myself to be (rather than staying unhappily in place). 'Husband' himself is still under my consideration, as I found out he had a girlfriend all last year, and possibly even the year before, and took her mid-covid on hotel weekends.Edit 2: (I keep coming back and adding; I'm actually supposed to work....)We have a 2-seater black faux-leather seat with storage (no arm rests or back). It looked nice enough, but as dds and husband kept on piling stuff on top, the 'container' part was filled and never reopened. I tackled it on Sunday, and found that between the outside wall and the seat, it had started going white. Not quite mould, but the pre-stage. I emptied the container, washed it down with soapy water and then clean water and set it out in the sun. Then sprayed it with febreze and put it in the sun again. I'm not sure it will go back inside. The contents was mainly thrown away, as it was all smelling mouldy. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.5912

Hello all. Hugs where needed. After 5 days AWOL I had 6 pages of posts to catch up on. It has been lovely to see my older children and grandchildren over the last few days. Half a days cross over in the middle when one set left and the others arrived. Thankfully hot water stayed on ok for 2 teenage girls who seemed to live in the bathroom for hours. Not mentioning plumbers or BG today but there will be more to come. We managed a day out at a beach not far away - no facilities but miles of sand and very few people. Took the 2 small ones as well and they had a great time. DD and I discussed some of late MIL's stuff and agree that the ornaments I have put aside as unsure about disposing we will keep. One labelled box of wrapped ornaments to go in loft for the moment to revisit later as neither of us felt ready to part with them. She will be staying for a week in August and hopefully we can go through papers and photos then.
