Good morning. Thank you Mrs SD. We do have a shed, and loft...and our bedroom .... and a camping trailer... and a storage unit... all full to the brim with things that needed sorting/throwing/donating and never have been 😱🙈🥺. DH says nothing else will fit.
My auntie did help me go through the trailer in the summer and we washed 15 black bags of clothes and sent them off to charity. The trailer was then refilled (although I think its the garden pool and DDs gym bar off the garden).
I must make the effort to actually get rid this year. Today will probably be putting the decorations away though.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Morning MrsSD and fellow declutterers,
Happy new year and all that. Thank you MrsSD for my gold star. It's appreciated.
A virtual hug from me to @Black_Saturn
So we have been decluttering the Christmas food over last few days (does that count 😄) and my 9 year old daughter made us a nice festive buffet last night. Her 💖 is in the right place for sure.
So have started off the year with some good intentions this morning and decluttered the area next to our TV which has our DVDs but is also a dumping ground for lots of other things. Into the recycling bin has gone old birthday and anniversary cards, an empty box for a Nokia phone. Cut up two £20 gift cards for tk maxx which expired in 2012 😄 you have to laugh. Daughter has grown out of the Little Mermaid and Tangled so need to find new homes at some point for them. Hopefully by doing this my wife will notice the tidiness in this area and decide to watch more of these DVDs with me instead of being buried under clutter. Fingers crossed.17 -
Happy New Year all!
Sending much love to you @black-saturn, I cannot imagine how difficult all this must be for you
I have decluttered a lot of old receipts this morning that I no longer need, I don't know if I need to keep a running total of things I get rid of? I am going to make a start of some of the clothes today, if I can be bothered16 -
Hello, can I join,
would like to declutter 2021 things this year ( do you count single items or as a bulk ie 30 christmas cards is that 30 or 1??)
many thanks14 -
Here we go 2021 is off to a (crawling) start. am focusing today on tidying and cleaning and as I go hopefully i can find some things which need to go. I've given up completely on the chaz as they never seem to be open for donations and keep saying they have loads of stuff, so I'm using freegle more and also leaving stuff in the bus shelter down the road which it seems to disappear from quite quickly. 2021 looks (apart from covid obviously) like a pretty uncertain year for me, i was treading water most of last year but the main issues havent gone away and I do need to find a new more reliable job and probably move house as well. Dont want to do the moving first in case it limits me on the job though. rambling on again, sorry!

Hi all, I really need to get onboard with decluttering this year. I would describe myself as a hoarder, but not to the extreme that you see on the television. I find I attach a sentimental meaning to everything I own and therefore find it hard to let go of stuff, particularly things from my childhood, or things given to me by my parents or my husband.
A couple of weeks before Christmas I made my first real breakthrough. We took a whole car load of items to the tip. I’ve never been to the tip before! I was so proud of myself for loading up the car with no drama and then when we got there, I only had a small tear run down my face as we let go of an old microwave my parents had given us (I’m really that ridiculous). Anyway, the aim was to make space in the garage after it had become overrun with stuff (carpet, gripper rods, skirting etc) from renovations we did during the year. It was certainly easier stuff for me to part with but a really good first step nonetheless.
So for 2021, I want to continue decluttering. We moved into our first home in October 2019 and we still haven’t finished unpacking! We have two rooms full of boxes and bags to go through, plus one side of the garage neatly stacked with unpacked boxes. We moved from a one bed flat to a four bed house so I can’t believe I don’t have the space for things I want to keep!
And more importantly, I have SO MUCH stuff still at my parents house. It’s just not acceptable that I impact their lives with all my things. I must either sort it from theirs (when we’re allowed over again) or bring it to mine to deal with it. They’re in their 70s now and I want them to have it out of their house (it’s all in my old room, the loft or garage so not affecting their day to day life, but still).
I really don’t want to store stuff just for the sake of it as it’s an easy way for me to avoid sorting through everything, however, I do really want to get the loft boarded so we have a functional storage space for things we do want to keep (Christmas decs, truly sentimental things, winter clothes etc).17 -
Starting the year as I want to continue. DD's toys from the bath showing signs of mould so put straight into the bin. Clearing out the cupboards and kitchen drawers before it's removed and various items now removed to the bin. Wreath also taken down and put into the recycle bin. That's another bag so my total so far is 6.
They'll be a lot in January but then it'll slow right down. XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x18
