I've not read all the way through yet but could I join you this year please. We are hoping to sort one room a month.
This month will be the boys room as I already have everything ready to decorate. Yesterday I sorted through DS2 drawers and removed 2 black bags of clothes that no longer fit or were full of holes (he chews all his clothes). The bags are in the kitchen so haven't actually left the house yet.
Our eldest is 19 and we still have all her baby things, its safe to say we have hoarded sooo much junk.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Floss, I like the bargaining idea 🙂
Bluegreen143, shame the evil plan won’t work ☹️ but bargaining might 😉 Generally speaking DHs are lovely 😉 I never have any decorations up - bah humbug 😛 A good start to your decluttering journey but I don’t envy you the conversation with your 5 year old 😉
vulpix, Well done on your 2020 success - a Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way to cap off your success 👏Patentgirl, I have been surprised too 😉 I think a lot of us just wanted to see the back of 2020 ASAP 🙂
Good work villagelife 👏 I know you will miss DS2 but not his clutter 😉
Succinctly put Uncluttered_unicorn 🙂
KatyLovesCats, very pleased to know that you’ve “finally found my people” 🙂
Remember lynnsey30, once you have completed your knitting projects, you can count the number of balls of wool used in your decluttering numbers 😉
Black_Saturn, I am so very sorry. Please, please do not think you have derailed the thread. I like to think of us as a kind & caring family - here to support each other not only on our decluttering journeys but also to support each other in maintaining our wellbeing.dND, thanks for the info 👏 England to France about £8 up to 1kg, then the price increases for each extra 250g up to 2kg. More than that the price soars 😱
elsien, I like your targets 👏 I’m with you elsien, I thought alcohol lasted forever 😒 Such kind words for Black_Saturn, thank you. Sorry, Declutter AND Clean - after all you want to show off your nice clutter free spaces (clutter does have a habit of hiding a multitude of sins 😉)
Wow IrishRose12, you have been busy 🤩
Floss, lovely thoughts for Black_Saturn & IrishRose 👏
balabooberlies, Marie Kondo can be frightening - I did use her folding methods up until recently but now I belong to the ‘roll club’ 😉
Kind words Nicnak & Happy New Year to you.
Good work boultdj 👏 Very efficient of the company from whom you bought your new oven - 2020 ended well 🙂
TC77, so sad that alcohol doesn’t last forever ☹️ but at least it has given you a good start to your decluttering 😉👏 That is an excellent motto “Be kind to myself” - I think we should all be kind to ourselves 🙂 after all it is only clutter & cleaning 😉
rtandon27, Well done 👏 I have a funny feeling that we all have one of those tasks that seem to sit on a To Do List for ages. Then when we take the plunge it takes no time at all to complete 🙄
A real surprise for me too garden_girl_2 😬 The thread has really taken off 🙂
Vaccines for all 🤞- I read somewhere that there may be a 3rd one soon 🤞
Excellent work skint_chick 👏 I am rather enamoured of your decision to count specific items in 🙂
You are in moneyonmymindsam 🙂 welcome back 👏
charlies_tribe, Welcome aboard the 2021 Decluttering Charabanc/s. Do you have a garage or shed to store the bags? I have been using the Tiers system as an excuse not to declutter - no charity shops open, queuing at the Tip etc I see you have preparations made for decorating - well done 👏
Later today I will decide on my mottos & target/s.Happy New Year everyone

Happy New Year to all.
Gentle hugs and good wishes to those who are struggling and need it.x
Ive been in this group before under a different login which i cannot access, Mrs SD is a wonderful cheerleader and the group are kind and supportive
Me? I have pondered for a while how to do this with charity shops closed and tip queues. For the for past weeks i have made a virtual list of the items that are destined to go as i cant see the point of pulling them out to sit in the garage/car/spare room. ( story of my life.!) I gather the professional hoarder experts call it " churning"... moving it around house and never getting rid . The virtual list has been useful as ive been able to discuss with DH things ive had a dilemma about. Sentimental items and paperwork are my biggest problems.
I will be the slo mo of the group! I chip away slowly but i cleared my garage doing that.
So this is my plan:
1. Declutter items that I can get out of house in present situation. (Sell books to webuy ziffit music magpie etc) ,donate books to school library and games to their club..return items to people they belong too, paperwork shredding and recycling.
2. Declutter a minimum of 1 item a day
More is a bonus..nearly always 1 leads to more, but if life happens 1 is enough to keep the momentum.
3.Bypass sentimental/ painful stuff for now .
1. Return book to family member
