Good evening everyone, and Happy New year to you all.
No de-cluttering done here today physically, as my recycling boxes are full, the bin is full, charity shops are closed for 5 more weeks so I'm stuck until tomorrow when the recycling boxes get empties lol.
I have decluttered some computer and tv related stuff though. Cancelled my YouTube subscription for no ads, and also my Netflix subscription, so that subscription money I'll put towards paying off my credit card. I've decluttered some tv programmes of my recorded to watch list too so another bonus.
Think I'll now go and do a declutter of emails too.

Good evening. Been busy cleaning the living room, lights and garlands etc away, the tree was done yesterday. Just some lights from the conservatory to come down. Decluttered all the dust from under around them.
I've added 2 pairs of pjs, a t-shirt, some swim shorts and a pair of boxers to the black bag from DS2 drawers but not going to count them until they actually leave the house.
I did bin 2 empty tea light and A non working fake tea light that's been on fire guard years.
The small Christmas tree was also moved to the garden to see if it survives.
With each cup of tea I've started decluttering my inbox. So far I've done 1170/30000 🙈 a 1000 a day and it might be done before the end of the month.

Hi All,

Swept and mopped floors, hoovering, cleaned d/s cloakroom, shook door mat and cleaned mirrors (took much longer than I would have thought)
Hoping to sort out some papers this evening have a few things ready to go out of the house tomorrow, (and will count then).

3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH
I am back. Dinner preparations completed, will just have to cook - sausages, mash, baked beans & plum tomatoes. I have watched 3 episodes of a Nordic noir series ‘DNA’ which is compelling viewing but needs concentration for the subtitles 😉

Welcome aboard Samiire 👋 It is a universally accepted idea that our stuff expands to fill the available space 😂 however there is a solution & you have taken the 1st step - You have decided to declutter. Well done on your breakthrough 👏 - a trip to the Tip is a major achievement 👏 There may be a psychological explanation for your sentimentality regarding objects but that is by the by. First things first - do you have an haven or maybe I can call it a bolt hole? A clear uncluttered space that you can retire to - sit down have a cuppa & forget about decluttering - read, listen to music, knit or do something that you enjoy. If you don’t then that is your first order of business 😉 Next & this is the toughie (I really wish DH and I had bitten the bullet & done this 😉) - empty the loft 😱 & board at least a section of it. I know, I know more visible clutter to look at BUT then you can really start to declutter knowing that whatever is returned to the loft deserves to be there 🙂
Re the stuff at your parents, please try to put that to the back of your mind. I imagine that it is the stuff that has the most sentimental value & would be harder to sort. You have had one huge success, and with every future success you will find it easier to declutter. Remember it has taken YEARS to accumulate your possessions & it will take some time to declutter. However, I know you can do it 🙂 We are all here to support each other & if we persevere our clutter free dreams will become reality 🙂Well done Black_Saturn - if you cannot sleep then keeping yourself busy can be a boon. Hopefully you will tire yourself out & get back into a sleep routine. Please do look after yourself though.Excellent work Nicnak 👏 Yes, your decluttering might well slow down after January but by then you will have built up your Decluttering Muscle aka Mojo - so will continue to declutter albeit a bit more slowly 🙂Brilliant bit_by_bit 👏 Yo have set your stall out, you can see light at the end of the Decluttering Tunnel & you are fully enthused 🙂 I look forward to reading about your successes 🥳Welcome aboard Thrifty_Taylor 👋 You have been very busy since Christmas 👏 I did smile 😃 at the tale of the fridge 🙂 but remember it is not an excuse to overfill it 😉
Thank you so much for your very succinct comment (quoted below)
“Thank you all for your inspiration. Happy new year to you all, may 2021 be the year we can all look back on & smile, thinking that it's the year we took control & fought off the clutter monster x “
Excellent decluttering stuck2020 👏 Also a wonderful plan of action - 2021 is your year 🙂Great work newlywed 👏 Our numbers are guides not necessarily targets - in a perfect world (which this is not 😉) we would meet every target we ever set 😉 You are wise enough to know that we should not stress about a missed target 👏🙂

Evening All
Well I've been quite for the last couple of days as DH has been in hospital for an op and I had to be focussed on that.
However, since my first post and clearing the kitchen, I have managed to stay on top of that each day. Coming down to clean kitchen sides every morning has been nice.
Today, I have started on my bedroom. I haven't managed to get as far as I wanted, but I have cleared half of the floordrobe, done a wash load and dried it and put it away.
As I need to concentrate on selling on things rather than just throwing things, I have started to put items in my loft ready to list or to store once listed. Because of that, the declutter total today is only at 1, but the cleaning and tidying is underway!
Thanks to everyone who stopped to comment on my first post. Your words of encouragement made me feel very welcome and I truly feel like this year we are all going to smash it!
Have a good night all.
Claire

Hi
Made a small start at decluttering this afternoon, by sorting through paperwork and have a pile of stuff to shred. Also sorted out some unwanted CDs and DVDs that couldn’t be sold and weren’t wanted by any local charity so have separated the paper and plastic bits and put it all in the recycling bags. Need to go through statements and will have some receipts to clear, which I’ll do this evening.
Tomorrow I’ll go through the fridge and clear that out and will make some pastries and cakes which will be decluttered to my brother’s houses. Xmas decs boxes need to go back onto shelves.
