Hugs and heartfelt best wishes to you Black_Saturn. And hugs and positive vibes to all those who are struggling right now.
So another New Year and i missd my second target by 10 bags but I am not unhappy. This year is a new start and I have already several bags for the CS and for family members when I go down South eventually to see them. I also have a fine stas of baby blankets and hats friends were knittling and crocheting babies in Africa. These will be going in March.
So I think this year is going to be different for me. I am going to be retiring and in the next three months expect to get the house in such a condition as to have a place for everything and be shot of the rest. This is a big ask but I have made such headway I can see the end in sight. I know what it looks like, just got to get there.
I am aiming for a half 10 bed time as tiredness in doing me in.
Clean kitchen straight after tea.
Hot spots clearing every day
Doing on decluttering activity (sticking to it like a stamp til done) a day
All the best everyone for 2021

Afternoon All, please can I join in too? I discovered the 2020 thread @November, though couldn't get started on any sorting of my own due to working two jobs.
Once Christmas was over, I started sorting & filing paperwork, then spent a couple of hours another day, sorting through boxes in the shed.
We have a small house with not much storage, so I'm planning to streamline everything, selling what I can & putting the money towards a house extension.
After catching up on the 2021 thread today, I've cleaned my fridge (long overdue) & removed 15 empty/nearly empty jars & bottles. So after moaning for ages that the fridge isn't big enough, we now have more space in it! 😁
Thank you all for your inspiration. Happy new year to you all, may 2021 be the year we can all look back on & smile, thinking that it's the year we took control & fought off the clutter monster xUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Happy new year all!
I couldn’t sleep last night/early hours so I decided to pull an all nighter and reset my sleep schedule. At 6am I was finishing up sorting through my kitchen cupboards and I’ve got a box of stuff I no longer need. I also made some vegan granola for breakfast. I listed some cacao nibs on Olio, oh my word they were vile! Haha 😆 at least I know now. It got to 9am and I felt like trash and ended up falling asleep until 2pm! Normally I’d be kicking myself for wasting half the day but I’m determined to stop being so hard on myself over little things. Since 2pm though I’ve put the Xmas decs away and completely sorted my living room, admittedly it was the most done room anyway. I’ve also put a load of washing on and hung the damp stuff from the previous load on airers by the radiator, it’s freezing here so they’re on anyway, may as well make extra use of them. From my to do list I have sorted the shampoos and conditioners so I know where I am with those. I’ll list a couple on Olio because there’s only myself and my daughter that even use the stuff! I also managed to get a few pieces of clothing while I did my food shop, just generic items but it’s equivalent to 3 outfits and all 50-70% off. My next to do list:
- sort wardrobe
- research/think of a few more ideas for outfits
- utilise the app I bought 2 years ago to take photos of my clothes, sort outfits and that way if I see something while I’m out and about I have it on my phone!
- sort through my cosmetics, at least some are out of date or I don’t use them18 -
So here goes !1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH
Friday January 1st 2021 is an overcast, damp & cold day. The only tasks today will be to watch & clear down some of my programmes from the planner, cook dinner, wash up & tidy the kitchen. So straight into cheerleading :-
Welcome aboard ilovetea 👋 In lieu of setting your own target may I suggest 1 small task or 1 item decluttered each day?. That will get you into the swing of things & you can then firm up your ideas/plans for 2021Thank you for the lovely comments gettingthrifty ☺️ You have put a lot of thought into your plan & I think that many of us will be sending thanks for doing the hard work for us as getting started is the 2nd biggest stumbling block to decluttering (the 1st is admitting we actually have clutter 😉)
Very MSE lynnnsey30 👏 - Martin would approve 🙂
Good work villagelife 👏
Whatever works for you mehefin 🙂 Do you have a garden? as egg boxes are useful for starting off seeds or putting in a compost bin 🙂
charlies_tribe, 2021 is YOUR year 🙂 When you put away the decorations remember to bin the broken ones 😉
leelad, What an excellent start to 2021 👏 It always surprises me how uplifting it is to clear a corner of a room 🙂 Your daughter is a fine young lady - 9 years old & already looking after you & your wife 🙂 I am sure your wife will notice your efforts even though she may not comment 🤞
Good work KatyLovesCats 👏 Absolutely no need to keep a running total (sometimes counting can be a bit of a faff 😉 & I say that as an inveterate counter 😅) - if you pop onto the thread & list your achievements you can see evidence of your successes 🙂
Welcome aboard Ms_W 👋 I have noted your target as 2021 (averages out at 6 per day). In order to give yourself an encouraging start, I would count as 30 - then you have a bit of leeway until you get into the rhythm of decluttering 🙂
stellata, you have started 👏 remember our Mission Statement for 2021 is ‘Declutter AND Clean’ so you are not crawling 🙂 Remember success breeds success & as you get your cleaning/tidying/ decluttering mojo moving it could clear your mind re the job hunting & potential house move. Perhaps researching/identifying a new job can be part of your decluttering regime e.g. a dedicated amount of time each day/week. You would probably feel more in control 🙂 Oh, by the way you weren’t rambling, you are trying to get your thoughts in order 🙂
I am going away now to have something to eat & will come back in a while to resume cheerleading 😉MrsSDDecluttering Target: 2021Savings Pot:Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Ok so my goal is to see if I can declutter 21 items a month, but I won’t beat myself up if I can’t get there. And there’s no way I could even remember 21 goals to try and join that threadDay 1.
a summer dress I bought (online auction so pre-owned of course) and have never work... now that it actually zips up I have realised the shape isn’t right for me at all. Into the summer charity donation bag.

January Declutter 4/21
since cleaning the kitchen through and decluttering cupboards last month, I have been keeping up with all the washing up and keeping it more tidy. Plan to continue with that too (a messy kitchen makes me stressy)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?19 -
Happy New Year everyone
Not sure how long the counting items in and out will last, probably only for a couple of weeks until I forget where I am! Today I just pottered about the house randomly replacing things that were out in the open. Local person from Facebook group came to collect half used hair products I was giving away, and I also saw the neighbours and gave them a bottle of wine that's been in my fridge for at least a year since a friend brought it for dinner and we didn't drink it.
Out:
24: Bottle of wine to neighbours
25: Husbands football gloves (unused for at least 14yrs) to neighbours sporty son
26-32 - 4 conditioners, hair mask, 2 x hair gel, and curl cream donated
33: Broken pound shop USB cable to bin
Used up remaining lasagna sheets and a couple of tins of tomatoes and freezer mince to make dinner last night, then defrosted steak to make fajitas for lunch. I want to declutter the freezer so it can be more organised and I can see what I have easily instead of it being crammed full of stuff that doesn't go together. Planning to start on craft stash tomorrow, as I have enough craft supplies for several lifetimes and a lot of the projects aren't really inspiring me anymore. Will be parcelling them up to sell or gift to friends over the next few months."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux18 -
I've decluttered the last of the NYE fizz into a glass of OJ, and the last bits of an open pack of bacon into a sandwich 😁
The tree is down & I've sorted the deccies - the ones I don't want any longer will be boxed separately to go to the chazzer next Autumn. I've even remembered to wind the lights around some cardboard to keep them straight. I'm about to pack everything away to be put back in the loft when I've wrapped the London-bound gifts, which will be collected tomorrow too.
I've also managed to sell a few things I listed on Ebay yesterday, just need to sort the labels & pack them up for collection tomorrow. I've also decluttered a light shade that is too heavy back to the supplier for a refund.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Decluttered 2 pairs of curtains £15 found its way to my purse.
I too like to get up to a clean and tidy kitchen, @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, I also like to give one room a top to bottom clean, but I do one a week, live alone in a bungalow so easily achievable, counting the hall as a room, job involves wiping the skirting boards too.
Kitchen and bathroom are done on the usual daily basis, but once a month I clean the bathroom tiles, room tiled all over, it`s actually a wet room but has a waist high cubicle so that gets cleaned in the monthly rota too, kitchen is cleaning the entire work surfaces and all back splashes, I am turning over in my mind how to get some of the stuff off the counters and into the cupboards, think it will involve moving shelves.
Will take the decs down tomorrow, get them up into the loft and see what can be recycled/resold from there, but don`t really want to bring stuff down into spare room as trying to organise that once dec boxes gone, so will make 3 piles junk/sellable/keeps near the loft hatch.Do I need it or just want it.18 -
Only decluttering I've done today has been e-mails, 164 of 'em and a film watched that OH would not like.£71.93/ £180.0018
