Hello,I hope you are all enjoying this glorouis weather.
I was thinking yesterday that posting here is like having penpals. I met a girl from London when I was about 10. We were on the same holiday park I think in great Yarmouth. We wrote to each other for about 5 years. I wonder how you are Lesley?. Her youth club went on a trip to be in the audience at a TOTP's show. I was so envious!

It`s quiet here today...must be busy or enjoying the sunshine...Mrs SD, I do hope your back is getting better - rest, and if you must do stuff take it very gently.Vulpix, I`m glad to hear your hubby is home now, wishing him all the best for his post-op recovery.Gers, you are right not to get rid of all your mum`s stuff in a rush, I like the way you put it `fading slowly`.Mehefin, congrats on the decluttering of your cataract!Well, the SSE chap came on Weds afternoon, changed my gas meter, and checked boiler, cooker, very thorough and professional. He also noted that my electric smart meter wasn`t right, rang someone to get it sorted, and ended up putting a new one in - that one was put in before I changed supplier by S.Power (a sub contractor who was in such a rush because it was a Saturday morning and he was free after my job and rushing to take his daughter out for lunch! He told me that, thrust a leaflet at me and legged it!)The chap who came on Weds has therefore decluttered the last traces of Scottish Power from my life . That is a very good feeling,I`ve enjoyed having a much tidier bedroom, have brought my fabric stash back from spare room and still need to sort through it properly, but it is tidy for now. This morning I`ve made a chicken curry for tonight (tastes better if it has time to fester), and got 2 loads of washing out on the line, Have walked the dog, and had a reminder to make appt with vet for his booster and annual health check, so I`ll ring them now then going to sit outside watching the washing dry!I`m hoping to tackle the dresser this weekend.Bracing myself for giving away stuff I don`t use....Have a good weekend all.9a sub-contractor who11

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉😉)
Thursday was a gloriously sunny day & very warm in the sun when the chilly wind was not blowing. Friday is shaping up the same way.Yesterday my back was slightly less painful - I managed to remain upright until the evening but then gradually became more & more stooped 😞 DSis went out to pick up her medication & buy more food to bin/feed to the fox - she always buys too much & then let’s it go out of date 😡
DH did the usual Thursday sm trip. We managed to reclaim 96 old bricks - DH cleaned them & I walked (very slowly 😉) up & down the garden carrying 2 bricks at a time & stacking them - very minimal bending as added to our previous stack of bricks & no real pain. Dinner was rib eye steak cooked by DH with oven chips & roasted tomatoes & mushrooms (my contribution was peeling the mushrooms 😉) As no-one was going to do the washing up, I did it as I couldn’t bear to come down to dirty dishes - unfortunately it was late & I had to lean on the sink ☹️ Lying down seems to be the only way I can get reasonably comfortable 😔 Our builder turned up early with one labourer - our wall is 3/4 finished 🥳
Friday is sunny & warm out of the shade 😉 Our builder is on his own. I got up quite late & unfortunately within 5 minutes my back started to twinge 😭 I am getting very impatient but I will bite the bullet & every couple of hours I will go & lie down 😔 for a while. I am missing out on the sunshine & not best pleased that my new no.3 above has bitten the dust in the first week 😖 but C’est la Vie 🤷♀️ I am writing off the entire weekend & hopefully by Monday I will be at least sparring fit if not fighting fit 🤞 One bit of good news - I have about 20 tiny tomato seedlings 🌱- the benefits of a south facing kitchen window sill 👏
836 - 840 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, 2 newspapers, glass bottle - recycled
841 Kitchen detritus binned
If we could all do that greent, our world would be a better place 🙂 Well done on leading by example 👏
Excellent work 3secondmemory 👏 keep up the good work 🙂
Now, now TC77 ‘wagging finger emoji’ - all the little decluttering tasks add up 👏 & in some ways are more satisfying than the big decluttering projects 🙂 Good news about the sofa & chair 🙂 Excellent work TC77 decluttering even when busy 👏 Yes that is the MrA I use - I quite like it but my DH really doesn’t - he is a MrS man through & through 😉 I don’t envy you the new office working - I always hated the hot-desking concept ☹️ but then I am very old fashioned 😉
GrannyKate, all the little bits of decluttering mount up 👏🙂 Remember decluttering only works if we each do it at our own pace & in our own way 🙂 Yippee to the HAIRCUT 🥳 Great decluttering & enjoy your new vacuum 😉
I love the silly mood balabooberlies 😂 & I never knew that woks could get on your nerves but I can now say I have learnt something new 😉😉 Well done on the decluttering 👏 Re the car, maybe 10 bags 😉 & if that means you reach your target early then tough 😉😉 You can set a mini target of 9 tee-hee 😂
Vulpix, I wish I had read your post yesterday ☹️ but as you can see I will be biting the bullet & resting properly 😔 Glad to see MrV is home - hopefully the extra night in hospital will have been beneficial 🤞Hope you enjoy your shopping trip & that it is successful 🙂🤞What a lovely way to describe the thread (in fact the whole OS forum) - we are pen-pals - just there are more of us 😉
I remember pen-pals, vulpix 🙂 - I used to have one in Finland (never met) & one in Italy (a distant cousin who I met several times) - it was interesting to read how different our lives were & I remember the joy at receiving a letter 🙂🥳 Great decluttering & well done on passing on your knitting 👏
Great work short_bird 👏 very brave of you to reduce your jar stash 🙂 😉
Brilliant work newlywed 👏 you have done more in your lunch hour than I have done in a week ☹️ but I will be kind to myself & not worry 😉 Just praise you for your success 🥳
What a wonderful decluttering win, D123456789 👏 Remember, you probably were not decluttering 10 years ago 😉(balabooberlies silly 🙃 mood is infectious 😜)
Oh dear moneyonmymindsam ☹️ Starting a new job is difficult enough without having multiple managers vying with each other to claim the new girl 😱 I have never understood why managers breathe down their employees necks 🙄 surely they should provide the training & trust their employees to get on with it & ask questions if there is something that they don’t understand 🙂
Hopefully they will settle down once they realise that they are lucky to have you 👏🙂
What a kind & gentle post bit_by_bit 👏🙂 Lots of good advice & a great deal of decluttering 👏
Thank you so very much for my medal 🏅 & Gold Star ⭐️ - I have added them to my signature 😉 I hope you have a safe & uneventful trip to Manchester & enjoy visiting your new friend 🙂
EnergyShifter, hopefully work will settle down a bit & you can get back into your morning routine 🤞as I remember how beneficial it is to your feeling of well-being 🙂👏
Good news mehefin 👏 One cataract decluttered 👏 & what a kind neighbour 😇 I hope you are following recovery instructions to the letter 😉

It's been over a month since I've been on this thread as I've been super busy at work and I've barely managed any decluttering
203 & 204 - empty paint cans to recycling centre from repainting my home office
205 - saggy shelf in home office to recycling
206-209 - shampoo conditioner hand cream and lip balm used up - not replaced as I still have a huge stash
210-214 - 5 charging leads with dodgy cords to bin - not replaced as we still have 5 of varying lengths
I haven't brought anything new in, and I've got the food in the freezer to 3 types of frozen veg, raspberries, ice cream, and a weekly batch of work lunches. Still working my way through pre-lockdown pasta hoard, I found more so we have about 4kg of spaghetti and 2kg of penne, but the rice hoard is almost empty and I've used up all of my cans and am only replacing on an as needed basis.
For the next month I'm going to slowly work on my paperwork and home office, as I replace items after repainting. Then after that I'll tackle the spare room as I need to repaint a section where the roof leaked over the winter.

4 boxes cleared and empty boxes added to recycling (+ 1 bag). Bin bag in my room split so added it to the kitchen one and out it went. Started a new one in my room and took it outside today - one pair of fluffy boots, one dress (both on their last legs before their latest encounters with blue paint), plant markers (took a hit when the can of paint tried to escape, scooped as much as I could up using an old dustpan). nearly two full cans of blue paint and a small one of silver hammerite (gate paint) used and left outside to let the VOCs evaporate before binning (nearest facility is 28 miles away and I can barely make it from one end of the yard to the other.
Brought a large carrier bag of small ornaments back in from the shed. mum has been here for five years and these have never been unwrapped. I asked mum to look at them. None are going but all the really tacky ones will be glued to a piece of slate and stuck outside - glue is to stop tiny fingers pocketing them.
I too am injured, not as seriously but more of me affected - shoulders, most of my back, knees foot and other leg bits and slammed my little toe and the one next to it into the leg of mum's footstool and they have gone through an interesting range of colours during the week. Painting raised beds all afternoon (that's pretty much true for the rest of the week), sitting down as much as possible (pain in left shoulder is because I was leaning my forearm on the top of the raised bed to support my weight and also hanging onto the frame of my old polytunnel for balance). Moved a number of stone animals round to the side of the house at mum's request - later managed to stub the injured toes on a stone otter whilst taking things out to the bins.
Mid afternoon mum asked if 'when I had showered and made myself presentable (not covered in more blue than a woad- painted highlander), could I get a taxi home to shove DS3's birthday card through the door and get the driver to bring me straight back. His birthday's tomorrow and 'he must have his card (so why wasn't it posted a week ago?). Mum is convinced that I'm going to spring to life and 'pop' here, there and everywhere. Well I ain't doing it (3 trips up and down the garden seems to be my limit).
Spent 2 hours yesterday emptying the shed, looking for a small tin of paint mum was convinced we had (think there was a lot less left than she thought and it was dried up). Everything is still around the shed and a couple of my boxes have obviously been knocked over during the winter (shed was packed to the rafters) as some of my drill bits and screws are scattered around. Will try to tackle some of that tomorrow from a chair (if I can move at all). Some things are not going back in the shed - some should never have gone in ther but mum wanted it 'tidy' so it all got shoved in wherever there was a space. my plan was to empty it out, put up more shelves and hooks, put up the polytunnel and raised beds (should have been done last autumn, not in the last few weeks) and then store all the stuff neatly.
Before painting I booked mum a blood test, ordered paint (1 silver, lots of blue - prices have rocketed). Could have the last tin at £20 from the same supplier as earlier in the week, alternatives were £27.52 and £39.99 (this is the price of the new stock with all the additional taxes). Then I found someone selling for £18 if I had 5. Well I need another 2 or 3 this year (next batch of raised beds, touch up the shed and any other odd bits that need it) but by next year quite a lot will need doing (old chimney pots, some of the fencing) so it will get used and £18 a can is much better than £40 or however much it costs by then. I have a few complimentary colours to try on some of the buckets and large containers (started with my old recycled plastic raised bed boards earlier in the week).
So roughly 15 items in the last few days so current total is 935/ 2021.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8 -
Floss said:@moneyonmymindsam I hope your new role settles down - do you work for both of those with different views?
There were 3 new starts that are no longer there🤔. I'd forgotten all about office politics and work life 😂
If I can get through next week I should be in a better place.
It need not be a long term job just something to pay the bills for now.
Threw out some of the rubbish in drawer as soon as I got home - don't have to think about it then.
Driving practice all weekend and hopefully will be ready.
Everyone is doing so well with the clutter clearing.
Plus one and I had a bit of a Barney as he expects me to be over grief and be well.. I've obviously explained that things don't work like that and some days all you can do is put one foot in front of the other and hope for the best each day.
Will get my driving out the way and then plan to do lots of catch up cleaning.
Also must avoid the charity shops so I don't be tempted to bring anything in.
Picked up some reduced veg and eggs so that will sort us out until we can do a proper shop.
Have a good weekend all💖💞

I've had a good week. Sold 2 large getting in the way items, that's £140 in! Binned a carrier bag of worn out underwear because I bought nice new ones. Why did I buy nice new ones? Because I've decluttered 23lb of excess tubbiness and I am now officially a Healthy Weight! I'm just going to enjoy it for a bit before I start again. Wearing my new pantsMagnolia Stellata12
