1 item paperwork recycled
Friend's paperwork taken back to her yesterday by another friend but she refused to have it back in her flat so it's still in other friend's car. Other friend says the place is full of piles of stuff, just like her previous house was. She had said last week that she is no longer a hoarder. Sadly this is not true. We don't think there's much more we can do until she agrees to accept professional help.
The excess items on the dressing table have been put into a make up bag that I just use for travelling - they are bottles of creams etc that I'd put there to remind me to use them up - and put away in a drawer. Mrs SD you are so right that it was lovely to put the bag in the drawer without having to squash it in. There's still plenty of space in there but I won't be filling it up again. It's amazing that moving just a few small things makes a room look so much better.I’m pretty sure I read something on this thread a couple of weeks ago about giving yourself permission to black bag stuff. I’m never going to use half the stuff I’ve got, and it’s most probably out of date anyway. I’m going to be ruthless and go up there with a timer set for 15 mins - that way I won’t procrastinate!9 -
Done the essentials, cleaned fridge, used up veggies for a HM soup, wiped all kitchen surfaces down. Toys tidied and put away, all of downstairs hoovered. Beds stripped windows opened, washing done and sheets outside. Sinks shined, toilets cleaned. Having a rest now!LO winter pyjamas need to go out and a quick check of what she’s outgrown. There’s one mantelpiece shelf in our kitchen full of LO drawings, cards, photos, wedding invites all that sort of thing it’s got so much stuff on it. Need to find the energy to take everything off and sort it out!10

A huge thank you for sharing stories of your dad 👏 I believe you & I are sisters from another life 😉 I also like to think that I wander along the middle ground - rather than hoarding though I would say collecting 😉😉

Mrs SD , sorry to hear your injured and sending speedy recovery good wishes.
I have 2 sofas and a tub chair to go. I love one of the sofas and the chair, worn leather 30s style but.my kids say not comfy and have bought 2 more ( much better condition) someone wants these on free site and as they love them I immediately think if they are so nice why am I getting rid. I know I have to bless them and let go, but would love to do more instinctively !!10 -

how lovely of you to give them away. When dreaming of my own home am always imagining/researching couches. Probably 'cos I always curl up with my dog and snooze so it's my favourite place.

Sorry to hear that you're injured Mrs SD - I hope that something relieves your pain soon.Don't think I'll be using much of the stuff I've kept. I don't eat jams or preserves, only bake on the odd occasion and have never knowingly eaten butter beans since school days! The empty cupboard has been pressed into service as temporary storage for all the big plastic storage bins which hold who-knows-what which used to live on the floor in the recess. I've just hauled them into the cupboard so that at least the floor can get washed and the stuff is out of sight. My lovely friend, who put it all together years ago and would have dismantled it suggested just leaving it for now. He's right. The sounds and thoughts of it being demolished would have distressed DM so it stays a bit longer.
Now I may move onto her collection of cookery books or the next cupboard of doom which holds a huge amount of her artists materials, acrylics and oils. This one worries me as there is so very much!I've ordered some vacuum bags to put some of DM's clothes in. She won't ever wear them again but I don't feel comfortable about sending it the CS just yet. It'd be too much like wanting rid of all her belongings...it's a difficult one. Hey, ho! Things are moving slowly. DM is fading slowly, as it should be.

Oh Gers
If I was near you I would buy all the art stuff from you. I have 2 budding artists (nieces) one just turned 11 and the other 13.
My cousin (clever woman, teacher) commisioned the 13 year old to paint a picture that reminded my niece of Cyprus. She could paint anything. The only thing stipulated was the size of the canvas. My niece painted the shore and a boat. Perspective was great, as was proportion. She is an instinctive artist. The whole project was an enormous success as it kept her busy during lockdown and she was so thrilled. My cousin paid her £30.00 but my niece just wanted to buy more materials to replace the ones she had used. My cousin insisted.
So I got really jealous.............and you can guess the rest.........

Sorry you are suffering @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. Hope it eases soon.
went through my bags for charity shop and have sorted some to take to the nearer clothing bank. Also bagged up my winter 2019 coat as it’s too big now. Got out my winter coat I haven’t worn for about 4 years and started to debobble it and realised it was really not in a great condition overall, so put it in a bin bag with some other bits and will put them in communal bins tomorrow.Need to go through my clothes again with a trying on session.
Seem to be back on the decluttering wagon and looking for small areas I can sort in part of my lunch break.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?11 -
