Hmmmm....I wondered if I was being a bit too harsh with 'buttoning it' but if you had followed a stained shirt for 6 months you might understand. I had soaked and washed it about three times even using white wine vinegar to no avail. I kept finding it in my shopping bags, on the kitchen table, in the hallway, back in the washing basket until I felt it was following me everywhere. One morning a few weeks ago I asked him to decide what was to be done with it and once again he said he was going to apply stain remover so I went and got it for him and handed him both. Could I have done anymore ?
The blighter wouldn't even apply the stain remover so I stood in front of him and demanded that he either deal with it or it needed to be binned. It got binned !
It was a plain white shirt. He has 17 pristine plain white shirts !

One year we were on holiday and the t shirt he was wearing was annoying him as it was too short and was riding up ( either it had shrunk or he had grown )
He went into the gift shop bought a t shirt and promptly changed into it ,then proceeded to put the old t shirt into the bag to take back with him !
I made him throw it away ,it was a bit of a battle

What a brilliant story balabooberlies - I laughed my socks off 🤣
Welcome aboard rolorich 👋 Nice to see you have your DH on board as well 😉
Another new face - try_harder you are very welcome aboard the Decluttering Charabanc/s.
I have noted a couple of your targets 😉 Please do not put too much pressure on yourself - slow & steady wins the race. Remember the clutter has built up over many years, so it won’t all go in a few months ☹️Floss, brilliant idea to only have Christmas stuff in the attic 👏👏
Absolutely boultdj 😉 Didn’t your DH share his sweets? You are racing along Nicnak 👏. The TV counts as one bag 👏 Well done on earning some pennies & stopping something so large going into landfill 👏
Welcome aboard lynnsey30 👋 You are not a hoarder 😉 you are a declutterer in the making 😉 Do you have a space to store the bin bags until the Tip reopens? or do you have space in your bin for an extra bag each week? Re the rubbish landlord, can you contact someone to get advice re getting him to do the repairs? After all it is his/her responsibility 😖
Hope you will pop in now & again Sallyp2 🙂 Would be nice to see how you are getting along with your savings pots 🙂
What a great idea Foofoopuppy “Operation Stop Reclutter” 👏
Great work bellabella 👏
Great work purpleivy 👏 Clutter out, pennies in, space created - a trifecta 🥳
You have been busy Black_Saturn 👏 Very impressed with your kitchen decluttering & arranging 👏
Another one who has been busy, tryingtoavoiddebt 👏 I tried the Marie Kondo method of folding, but have now gone to ‘rolling’ T-shirts, jeans, towels etc 😉 Did you lose your money tree, tryingtoavoiddebt ☹️ - I lost mine as well 😉 A chance to earn is always a boon in these current times 👏
Oh bit_by_bit ☹️ If DH is fed up perhaps he should help you 🙄 A pound to a penny the clutter is not all yours 😞 I need to decide on my 2021 mottoes but will be keeping your “Just Do One Thing” - it really helps, Thank You 👏
Exciting times ahead stuck2020 🙂 Menu planning, clothes sorting & then clothing research - far more sensible than just buying without thought 😉
Welcome back Chocolatedrinker 👋 Target noted & you will be just as successful in 2021 as you were in 2020 👏
Thank you so much for that pelirocco 👏 I fell of the sofa I was laughing so hard 🤣

Well, haven't been able to sleep and bin men coming today so I have been sorting and chucking. It takes ages because I have to recycle if possible which means me squinting at plastic bags, magazines etc to find out if they can be.
Anyway, have found loads of bags for life (plastic, store ones) which I am going to use to fill with clothes etc for charity. Does that mean I have to double up to 104 bags as they are not bin bags ? My challenge was/is 52 in 52.
Mrs Salad.........that shirt haunted me !

Morning MrsSD and fellow declutterers, just come across Claire's original post. Some good responses from all concerned. A couple of things I would like to add.
Celebrate the small wins - once an area has been decluttered (part of room, or full room or anything that has been difficult to work through), then reward yourself.
Don't have a deadline in mind for completing an area, take each day as it comes.
Declutter in short sharp bursts, that has worked for me, half hour or an hour.
Have one dedicated day for laundry and ironing. That works for us.
Cheers 🙂

I think I have struck it lucky. Laundry is never a problem for me (except THAT shirt
).
For me it's everything else. As an example I found a strip of a sheet that once belonged to my Aunty. A woman that I loved beyond words. She grew up very poor so she used to save, mend, treasure everything. She was a seamstress and I used to watch her bent over the machine mending. She left behind lots of scraps of material and I took that one. Perhaps some of you will understand why I can't let it go.
But hey-ho I have struck it lucky again because I just checked timetable for dustbin men..........they're not coming until Saturday ....................so I am ahead............silly me.

Update on my f/b sales, gone 2 lge throws, 4 duvet covers, and a pasta machine is pending.
I will take my decorations down tomorrow and take them up the loft, I know there is loads up there to declutter so will sort through and put in a separate pile, made me recall 2019, nearly said last spring, I looked at the pile of suitcases in the loft I had accumulated, decided to tip some, and advertise others on freecycle, 1, just 1 taken, I had them all piled in my spare bedroom, bungalow, took photos, put them on f/b for £10 each, all gone.
I am so desperate for the charity shops to open, really don`t want to take stuff to the tip.Do I need it or just want it.17 -
So good to read about everyone, decided not going to start counting until Jan 1st but the actually counting really helped me. trying to sort out some admin, and RL stuff in the next few days. Stay safe everyone and see you in 2021 x14

Morning all, I'm not officially starting until the 1st but I did declutter my Christmas decorations yesterday (i.e put them away) as I can't be doing with them after Christmas. The tree will come down tomorrow as I'm a firm believer in Christmas staying in the previous year come NYD (if you get what I mean). I know this upsets some people but that's just how I've always done things. I hope everyone has a good day14

I do the same Katy. My tree is down already as I like to start the new year fresh with a clean house. I need to take the outdoor lights down but that's it.
