No problem Nicnak 🙂
Of course you can join Madusa 👋 Welcome aboard the Decluttering Charabanc/s 👋
So sorry to hear about the loss of your DM ☹️I see that everyone is pitching in with ideas including making an haven for oneself. That is also my recommendation - doesn’t have to be a large area - enough room for an armchair & a little table where you can chill out with a cuppa & forget about decluttering - reading a book/magazine, knitting or just listening to music. Refreshing yourself for your next session of decluttering 😉
Excellent work tryingtoavoiddebt 👏. Already 13.4% of your total 👏 and more to the point you seem to be enjoying your new hobby 😉
Welcome aboard ClaireT13 👋 Lots of lovely ideas from Nicnak, Cheapskate, -taff, balabooberlies, vulpix & tryingtoavoiddebt 👏👏 and I see from your later post that A Slob Comes Clean ‘Speaks’ to you 🙂 Re your, to my mind ☹️, inconsiderate family perhaps a sit down & a plea for assistance. Let them know that it is not acceptable to leave dirty dishes on the side especially as you have a DW 🙄 Another idea is to only have enough crockery & cutlery for one each for each person. If they don’t wash up, they don’t eat 😉 I hope your DH’s operation goes well 🤞 An excellent decision - if you can make your room nice you won’t mind spending time in there & leaving everyone else to fend for themselves 😉😉 Other than that, perhaps ‘sell them on’ 😂 Only joking 🙃 - I think 🤔
Thanks to Nicnak, Cheapskate, -taff, balabooberlies, vulpix & tryingtoavoiddebt 👏👏👏👏👏👏 for your great advice/ideas 👏
Welcome aboard Floss 👋 Wow, I am in awe - divorce, downsizing, new job - decluttering will be a breeze 😉 It appears that whatever you put your mind to is a success 👏 but probably only due to your hard work, persistence & enthusiasm 🙂 Thank you for joining us 👏
No such thing as a ‘decluttering bore’ -taff 😉 What a wonderful result to find a system that works for you 🥳 I am also very impressed at the amount of work you have done in just three months 👏 You might have to start selling tickets for tours & workshops 😉
dND what a brilliant idea 💡 and you explained it very well 👏 I sometimes think that it does take a thinking outside the box moment to encourage us to get on with our decluttering 😉 So thank you - who knew masking tape could be so versatile 🙂
Thank you for the laugh balabooberlies 😂 - “Don’t care about objections from anyone. They are not helping so they can button up! 🙂” I nearly fell off the sofa reading that 😉
Vulpix, Excellent advice to Claire. Especially as it is a tried & tested method that has worked 👏👏 Being cheeky - 366 as it is a leap year 😉😉 That is shocking about the amount of clothing going to landfill - very depressing that we are so wasteful 😔 😢 Hopefully if we all do our bit, we can reduce this figure 🤞
So many posts 👏 I will come back a bit later to resume the welcomes 😉Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Welcome aboard gettingthrifty 👋 The Decluttering Charabanc/s have 70 of us with this new hobby of decluttering 😉 I love that you understand yourself well enough to know that you will never sell things 😉 In full agreement that decluttering wins make you feel great 😊 with the added bonus that unlike eating chocolate your waistline doesn’t expand 😉
Had to laugh at the way you deal with your DH, tryingtoavoiddebt 😂 By the way, the money wasn’t wasted because you probably loved the items at the time of purchase 🙃 Good luck with the bedroom declutter 🤞
Purpleivy, it seems quite a few people have used A Slob Comes Clean to great effect 👏
You are all determined that I will split my sides laughing - Futility Room 😂 I do like your approach to doing the laundry 👏 Would you mind if I did that for 2021? I am rather more slapdash when it comes to laundry - just do it as & when I can be bothered 😕 shame on me 😔
Good luck with the sales pamsdish 😉
Welcome out of lurkdom skint_chick 👋 You are in good company re stationery supplies as quite a few of us adore our stationery - especially notebooks - they are so beautiful & so many different sizes 😱 I know that when the world becomes more normal I will be looking at notebooks & trying to resist the urge to buy 😉😔
So sorry about your mum bellabella 😢 I do not envy you having two lots of clutter to deal with ☹️ but I am positive that you will succeed 🙂
Welcome back ailz95 👋 You did an excellent job of decluttering in 2020 👏 and now you just need to keep up the good work 😉😉
Now, now Black_Saturn (wagging finger emoji) - 14 items is Not a small amount + you tidied the bookcase & sorted some paperwork 👏 An excellent start 👏
Welcome aboard no.1swimmum 👋 I think you will enjoy being out of lurkdom 🙂 Being sentimental is a lovely thing to be but does make decluttering difficult 😞 However, you have hit on the perfect solution 👏by gathering all your grandmother’s things together in one place & letting go of one item 👏 Then move onto decluttering items that hold no real sentimental value. You can revisit the pile of your grandmother’s things at any time & if you can let go of one item each time. That might take some time but you do need to be comfortable with your decision/s. It might be an idea to take a photo of the whole collection - it might help in the decision making 🤞
Chrystal, I definitely ate some of your ducks 😉😉
Vulpix, I hope that you are now cancer free. I definitely like your attitude to what can be sentimental or expensive items. It is very refreshing & succinctly put - thank you 👏
Brambling if you have done all that decluttering with a hurt foot, just think of what you will do when the foot is mended 😉 Please take it easy 🙂
Every item out is a win Nicnak 👏
Yippee, I have caught up 🥳

Mrs S.D. ............. I don't know how you do it.
Hmmmm....I wondered if I was being a bit too harsh with 'buttoning it' but if you had followed a stained shirt for 6 months you might understand. I had soaked and washed it about three times even using white wine vinegar to no avail. I kept finding it in my shopping bags, on the kitchen table, in the hallway, back in the washing basket until I felt it was following me everywhere. One morning a few weeks ago I asked him to decide what was to be done with it and once again he said he was going to apply stain remover so I went and got it for him and handed him both. Could I have done anymore ?
The blighter wouldn't even apply the stain remover so I stood in front of him and demanded that he either deal with it or it needed to be binned. It got binned !
It was a plain white shirt. He has 17 pristine plain white shirts !

Please could i join in ..This year has been rubbish for me , i have just lost all motivation and seem to be unable to complete any jobs so lots of unfinished projects to complete ..
In 2021 i hope to declutter 2021 items no matter their size ,
Lose weight !! This is one of the most difficult aims but at least twenty pounds and hopefully more
Work my way round the house decluttering each room and decorating
Cut down on the amount of food that i buy and not waste one thing
Keep the house tidier and get into a cleaning routine
Maybe then i will feel less muddled ,definitely need less stuff ,too much stuff everywhere, it has to go17 -
Well, I managed to declutter a piece of work I had to redo, due to losing the original notes in a decreased laptop incident. I also tidied up the Christmas stuff, ready to be put back in the attic when the tree comes down on Saturday. There is only Christmas up there and that is how it will stay...the ex-h's house had a converted attic full of !!!!!! that might be useful going back years, and I am determined not to replicate that.
Back to work today for me, so decluttering tasks will be done at weekends & evenings.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

, does it count?

Everything can count!
Another few drawers in the kitchen cleared and another bin bag full. I took them to the tip this morning so that's a total of 4 bags now.
I remember being this motivated last year so hoping I can carry it through.
