Lyndsey30 condolences to you and your family. A death is awful at any time but this last year seems to be such a dreadful time. Hugs to you and yours.RetiredinFrance DH didn't go off it, he just bought too much to drink in a reasonable time and I don't like it at all, I wish I did
Either way it was very annoying and ultimately throwing money down the drain, or rather juice, literally ! Think we could get away with shutting them both in the same room with their stuff and watch through a window
Naughty Nan
Vulpix Thanks for that insight of Mr V and I now have a picture of him as Maid Marion, can't get it out of my mindOut today a broken glasses case, luckily Justin came to the rescue.........seems he's useful sometimes ! Yesterday I deleted lots of digital photo doubles, only several thousand/s to go through now, make take a whileToday I've decluttered the fridge and cleaned it out and have some sad items to use up this week. Now I'm off now to declutter the dust from the stairs, it's not my favourite job.
Happy decluttering allnanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9 -

Cleaned hall thoroughly today including woodwork, airing cupboard and pictures. Reminded me that woodwork needs painting - L shaped but with 7 doors (bungalow so no stairs). Reorganised beach/swimming towels and aprons in airing cupboard - made bigger space for airing. Only a few small items decluttered:
1 Toddler's aprons x 2
2.Table protection mat - badly stained - didn't know I still had it.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Thanks Mrs. SD. Luckily I do not need to worry about the cooking when I go back because 1) I'll be working upstairs not leaving the house and 2) DH is a stay at home dad who does 90% of the cooking.
My get up and go has got up and went a bit these last couple of days. Hugs @ruby_eskimo
I am feeling a bit the same.
Have started decluttering some frozen blitzed mango into DS2.9 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Wednesday has been cold but bright & no snow ☹️ Earnest has visited the 3 of us today 🙂 DH has been the busiest 😉 1. DH Chopped up vegetables which I seasoned & roasted - for soup. He then made a mirepoix & we added lo gravy (from the beef casserole) roasted vegetables & a beef stockpot - bubbling away nicely on stove 2. DH chatted to neighbour - the letting agent has been out, taken photos of the collapsed wall & got in touch with their insurance company, so DH contacted our insurance company & someone will be out on Monday to inspect the damage. 3. DSis needed to find some documents - as she is still being charged tax by the French Tax office (DD/SO set up & not cancelled 😞) even though DH & I spent months back in 2018 writing letters & sending copies of documents etc 😖 - anyway she found the required documents & DH has written the covering letter which needs signing & posting. 4. In the hunt for the documents (I assisted 😉) DSis generated 3” of shredding & 1” of paperwork for recycling 👏 (As an aside I have been trying to get her to sort her financial paperwork monthly for at least 25 years 😔 😤) 5. I have made chunky guacamole (we had avocados in our veg box) 6. I emptied shredder bin 7. Currently I am writing out February & March birthday cards
DSis is having the lo hm lasagne for dinner & DH and I will be having a tuna based pasta dish.325 - 328 Kitchen recycling, large cardboard box, 1” paperwork, drinks cans - recycled
329 - 330 Kitchen detritus, shredder bin contents - binned
No charge on iPad, so will be back letter to cheerlead 😉

Still going:
20 - mug
21 - tote bag
22 - sports bottle
23 - book
all chucked out.
Thanks Sam, it actually took a moment to realise that you were referring to Valentine’s Day! I think I will treat myself...kinda struggling today being stuck indoors and having fallen out of touch with friends...while just have to power through. I really hope things start opening up next month in some form.9 -
hey i think i posted to join at the start of the year but never posted anything.
I'm trying to make the house decluttered ready for when we buy a house and well I'm tired of literally bags of stuff everywhere.
So far I have made small but good steps with decluttering...I can't do a lot at once because of my fibro but we'll get there!
My Intentions;- Declutter all rooms fully
- Clean each room fully (as much ourselves as possible) before moving
- Repairing the skirting board on the stairs - my hubs accidently chipped it when he knocked off a candle on the railing in the hallway... & repainting the house before we move
- Get into a weekly cleaning routine I can stick to
To either spend 2,021 mins decluttering / cleaning a month or get rid of/ sort 2,021 things....
I will now keep track on my notion of times & how much I declutter.
So far I have;Got rid of 3 cups,3 bottles of alcohol, Sorted through our 2 home files; one now is for improtant info of the house & the other is for 'house resources' such as instructions/manuals, recipes, things like jar labels & stamps.Threw out some paper from upstairs but still so much to sort out. I just shoved everything in a bag after moving in.Sorted coffee table shelf of paperworkCleaned & sorted kitchen windowsillDecluttered my desk, still need to sort my art box thoughsorting through GMAIL 'action' folder - was something like 250 emails now down to almost 100Deleted 2 email accounts I don't useSorting through my old email account - got over 2,000 emails to look through (make sure there isn't anything I need to swap to my active gmail)

Funny old year and normal to feel out of sorts, a little declutter never hurt anyone. Out with the old and in with the new as they say.
This is such a lovely, supportive thread of people, some of us do have a little moan/winge/vent along the way, so do feel free 😂

gettingthrifty said:Have you tried" debt snowflaking" ? ( very appropriate at moment) its when you get small amounts without expecting them?.you quickly shunt them into savings so they dont melt into the general budget. I use this method for extra saving. It can get a bit addictive but i think thats what helps. No one takes me seriously apart from the mse PADders site but i can get £50 to £80 a month doing it. Its made of unexpected refunds, cashback, items on offer i was going to buy anyway, vouchers for stuff i buy anyway, walking and saving car park fee, DH cutting own hair, my missed hair appts at moment, and lots of other ways.
Popping in to report a huge binliner of packing used to send an item I sold to the bay to the US. Won't be doing that again in a hurry. Anyway. Another large item has also now gone and the place is looking better by the day.

Thank you Mrs SD for keeping ahead of me and helping me with nos.
mainly work but this evening heard a strange noise from our front room we don't use in winter as so cold only to find water from the room above. DD had shower and didn't realise as not draining the water must be going somewhere else . Just so glad I was near by and got a bucket, fortunately not too much damage but another hassle. Stayed v calm however did realised she should have noticed and without asking washed up and tidied kitchen which was nice. Will be having more of other DD(1) things back as she moved flats.
