Hugs Mrs SD. When I'm running a thread, I've started to post after every 3 replies - no where near as impressive as your posts but I lost so many (find I'm frequently hitting the key to the right of the one I want, so in the early hours hit control + n instead of control + b and my post disappeared). Decided I was too tired - the early appointment + early wake-up to be ready on time really wiped me out.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Dinner was delicious 😋 - lo beef casserole with added potatoes reheated in oven, parboiled potatoes & parsnips from freezer - roasted in beef dripping, half a can of sweetcorn from fridge & can of carrots from stores. Enough gravy left for hm soup starter 🙂.
Earnest spent several hours with me - phoned bank to check account details & transfer €s to nephew in France for his 30th birthday 😱; cleared calls from landline; updated contacts list on iPad - DH’s side of the family, two more great-great nephew/niece are due in August & September so interesting knitting of baby blankets, matinee jackets, hats, mittens & bootees 🙂; thinned out 5 folders of my financial paperwork - generated 2” of shredding & 2” of recycling 🙂; swished & swiped cloakroom - so 10 items crossed out on my Declutter Bingo sheet 🥳🙂
308 - 316 Kitchen recycling, cardboard box filled with DH’s office recycling (= 2), 2” of my paperwork, magazine, glass jar, cardboard packaging, drinks cans - recycled
317 - 321 Kitchen detritus, 2” shredding, polystyrene packaging blocks, plastic packaging - binned
Very nice greent 🙂

Smaller cleaning job from my Bingo Cleaning Grid - the kitchen sink which has its own square. I do like it but made from some composite material which doesn't like bleach. I usually soak it with biological washing powder (I don't use that for clothes) but had run out. Found some loose dishwasher powder at back of cupboard and filled both sinks to brim with that and very hot water. Made paste to smear over draining board. Left for 2 hours then rinsed off - all stains gone and it looks like new.
Yesterday's utility room clean must have disturbed critters because I woke up with three bite marks on my arms. I also acquired bump on forehead through standing up too fast after I filled cupboard under sink with loo rolls. Hit myself on underside of sink. Cleaning and tidying is dangerous work.
Decluttered today:
1. Late DH's swim hat to CB. 1
2. Pen I keep picking up to use but it only writes one letter - finally binned 1
3. Bundle of plastic lids with no boxes (7). 7
4. Bundle of plastic boxes with no lids (3). 3
5. Cooking paper various 2 rolls to rehome 2
6. Dishwasher powder from back of cupboard used up. 1
7. Decluttered drive of snow (hope that counts as I decluttered some calories at the same time) 1

Oh wow, thank you for the ⭐ Mrs_SD! Will put it in the signature with pride 😁
Didn't manage to get any of my list done yesterday - ended up sitting on the sofa having a little cry and took myself to bed early. Just felt a bit sad all day, no idea why, just think it's the stress of the last few weeks catching up with me. Being kind to myself pays off, feeling a lot better today and have stripped the bed and put the sheets on to wash so that's something. List for today is:
- Make bed
- Dust bedroom
- Clean bath and shower screen
- Relax!
Hope everyone is having a good day and the snow isn't causing too many problems.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201711 -
Hope everyone is doing OK,
2 more items out from fleabay only made £16 but happy with that plus packaging out
I will recycle/throw my boxes from greaseproof paper, cling film and foil there's not much left on each roll but seem to give myself an injury from the serrated edge everytime I want to use something, so that's another 3.
YS Egg fed to dogs so used up.
Washing done.
Listed a couple more items for sale, if they don't go in a week or two, they can go to charity/recycling.
Will grab a bag later on and go through all the drawers cupboards see if anything has been missed.
Made a plan to drop off post to relative and any clothes/shoes recycling on Friday.

Thanks for the welcome @Mrs_Salad_Dodger and @moneyonmymindsam !
I think I have enough shredding to do/emails to delete that could easily surpass the 2021 target haha! However I feel that’s cheating so will maybe see if I can hit 365 in 365 days first. I would usually be away at my (then) boyfriends house at the weekends (in a bubble) but have now found myself newly single so will have a lot more free time for clear outs!

3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Forgot to mention yesterday that nephew phoned his mum yesterday & mentioned that the French government are considering changing their curfew from 6.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. 😱😱 but their shops are open - he works in a book store & has worked all the way through the pandemic 😷.Tuesday - it has been snowing for 7 hours but it must be warmer than yesterday as the snow is not settling & lots of yesterday’s snow is gone ☹️ Earnest is obviously tired as he has not turned up yet 😉 so straight back to cheerleading 🙂
Every item out is a win, gettingthrifty 👏 Shame about the physiotherapist but hopefully you have exercises to do & maybe resting will help 🤞Now, now Viking_mfw - do not downgrade your efforts - you have worked hard to get to 47/49 👏 Will you have to leave home to work? If yes, then maybe batch cooking is a way forward so there is less to juggle? My DH is very kind Nicnak, he lets me do the shredding 🙃 Perhaps you should put the blind back up 🤔😉
You have been busy moneyonmymindsam - decluttering & testing lightbulbs 👏 Not sure I would cope without heating ☹️ so well done to you 👏 & hope you enjoy your new electric blanket. Good luck with the job hunt 🤞 I was curious about your potential ‘win’ of six million Nigerian dollars which equates to about £11,400 - however by the time you have paid the ‘fees’ to release your win from a lottery you never entered our would probably be down by 10 million Nigerian dollars. I think you are probably safe to go ahead with a mass declutter of digital clutter 😉
Foofoopuppy, I am lucky as my DH is my electric blanket - he radiates heat & I always let him go to bed first 😉😉 If the kitchen is less cluttered then swapping out bags for airtight boxes is Definitely decluttering 👏 Well Done 👏 & good work on the office room 👏
Great work Gem-gem 👏 Hope the night sweats end soon 🤞
TC77, Lovely advice to gettingthrifty 👏 Great work on the decluttering 👏
It was a bit of a shock vulpix 😱 but at least there was no one hurt 🙂 I think you are building a cat palace not a cat kennel 😉😉 that is why the design keeps changing 🙃The frame sounds beautiful vulpix & I admire your up-cycling skills 👏 Looks like MrV is losing the noughts & crosses bingo 🙂Thanks balabooberlies 👏 hug is most welcome 🙂Thanks mothernerd 👏 - I am missing my hugs ☹️ This thread moves so fast that if I replied to 3 posts at a time, I might never get anything done 😉 on second thought 😜 Hope you are feeling less tired today 🤞
GrannyKate not sure any cleaning job is small 😉 especially if you dislike cleaning as much as I do ☹️ Great ‘make do’ to avoid spending 👏 & sounds like it worked a treat 🙂
Well, critter bites is not a great reward for cleaning & tidying 😞 Great decluttering 👏You are very welcome ruby_eskimo 🙂 You obviously needed to release the tension yesterday & well done to you for being kind to yourself 👏 one medal 🏅 coming your way for sharing with us. It might encourage us all to be a bit kinder to ourselves 🤞as sadly we can frequently be our own worst enemies ☹️Well done moneyonmymindsam 👏 Any amount of cash for clutter is great 😌 you are happy & the buyer is happy 🥳 and we can do with anything that relieves the stresses of lockdown 🙂
Every cloud has a silver lining battenberg 😉Well done on the decluttering 👏
And breathe & post 😉MrsSD 🏅🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 321/2021Savings Pot:Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Still tired and have achieved much whilst doing very little. More snow overnight, only just visible but treacherous, salted outside the door and on the path as food is being delivered (had stuff to make meals but running out of some things and thought if it snows and sticks, things will get more difficult). Because I'd already spent money on taxi fares and food (mum paid but I've only just got back to her not owing me) I ordered a few items from the 'wish list' including my new reading/ sewing lamp (found one a tenner cheaper than previously), two candlesticks that have been in the basket for a while (they will take the only candles we couldn't use at c***mas and if we have power cuts we will each have a light to carry round with us - a modern version of wee Willie Winkie type candlesticks with an integral saucer), light bulbs for the new lamp and some more craft stuff to make cards.
Mum is very pleased with herself because yesterday she managed to alter a 'son-in-law' birthday card to one for my brother (I let her use a piece of the box my candles came in and she used white letters from one of the packs I picked up on Friday to add lettering). She has made a card for my niece today using recycled bits of C***mas cards, one of the scallop edged cards I bought and a star I cut from the wallpaper that was bought to cover boxes (bought some Kallax cube shelves about 2 years ago and rather than pay £10 and upwards each for boxes to fit the holes, I bought a pack of plain cardboard boxes and a roll of wallpaper to cover them).
Took two blocks of coir compost to the bottom of the yard and filled them with ice and water from the buckets (1 block makes 9 - 10 litres of compost). Whilst I was down there I did a quick litter pick of rubbish, and broken bits and have since filled another two bags (all broken, rusty or filthy and green mouldy) plus several small bags from the house collected over the past few days (bin is nearly full so several small bags filled the space better than one bin bag but bin bag from kitchen was added). Small amount of green waste added to green bin (both bins will be collected tomorrow morning) but it snowed on me again.
Have spent most of the day sewing, doing a little mitten with a birdhouse embroidered on it. It will take a while to get a result as I am using up really small bits of thread - the mitten of the cuff starts with two rows of french blue with added purple, a single row of rich blackcurrant juice purple ans then a zigzag bit 2 - 4 rows deep in a light purple (but definitely purple, not lilac), line under the eaves is a scrap of very dark blue, squiggle above it is bright blue, birdhouse is slate blue (last 3 lengths from cushions I made for mum about 30 years ago) and the door and outline of the birdhouse is very deep turquoise, holly leaves are in olive and I need to put in 5 holly berries. I have to do a back and a front so I have a rolled up piece of paper about an inch wide with single strands of all these different shades and what they were used for. Really enjoying it, taking my time but will be glad when the new lamp arrives.
So claiming a total of 40 for today. I have to go and unpack the second half of the trolley now (had a rest) and will reuse the large brown paper bags it came in for sorting pills, toiletries, medicine etc. Saw a trolley like mine being used as a bedside table on pinterest (vase of flowers and alarm clock on top, books in the middle and a pillow/ spare bed cover on the bottom layer). Mine looks nothing like that - lots of small boxes/ tins subdividing categories. When mum is settled watching films I'm going to go and strip it all of, give it a good clean and start again. Stuff which does not belong in my room must be accommodated elsewhere. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10 -
We have been Robin hood and Maid Marion today. There were a full box each of Mars Bars,Snickers,Twix and Double Deckers about to go out of date at work from the shop. We have distributed them about the village. There are countless cans of pop to do next week. Had a double decker and then got rid of all the chocolate quickly!
Nowt done today apart from a baby blanket finished. The cat palace design changes because (I am very fussy) the proportions have to look right to me and it also depends on the size of the wood we have. Heaven forbid we actually bought some wood! I also have an ice cream tub of used screws we are using too. Must say Mr V is VERY patient. He can have the middle square on the jobs noughts and crosses when it's finished for his efforts. He has no eye for DIY or design so is happy to be my brawn. I love recycling/upcycling. It costs very little and I can change my house style constantly.
Battenberg I second a clean sweep for a new start. Time to indulge yourself.xx
Mothernerd your embroidery sounds exquisite.
