1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Tuesday’s snow never settled & Monday’s snow is almost gone, but it was very cold 🥶
Earnest never put in an appearance, so the sum total of my endeavours was to make lasagne from scratch. I followed the recipe to the letter but there was one substituted ingredient - no pork mince available so used pork sausage meat. The lasagne was absolutely delicious so well worth the time taken. There is one portion left for DSis & I will make a tuna pasta dish for DH & me. Wudupa.

Got up early to take GCs to school but DS said not safe for me to drive yet as more snow last night so dressed before 6 with nowhere to go. I spent last night going through accounts and decided I needed to be more organised to ensure I achieve my goals including replacing car but without too much impact on savings. I am fortunate to have no debts or a mortgage but I remember so well what it was like. I kept a note of everything I spent last year and in what category - not surprisingly the largest category was unidentified sundries - so this year I am looking at exactly what they are each month. Some were essential but others were additional clutter. I also spend too much on food. I mostly give money at Christmas except to smaller grandchildren so I worked that total out and plan to put cash in safe each month. I am also buying premium bonds (I've read up on MSE) as I thought I'd set that aside for my funeral fund. (Not going yet)
Just 6 to add to my total at the moment;
1 Magazines rehomed - 4
2. Box and packaging from parcel which arrived last night (GS4 birthday so sundry spending allowed) 22025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Good morning all, hope everyone is staying safe and warm.I've started sorting my baking tins out , some hardly used, and will continue today, DD is going to take some, and I'll chazzer some others that are in good nick but she doesnt want them.I'll do all the cupboards, might as well, they aren't bad though. What triggered me last night was putting some cooling racks away in my baking tin cupboard.I decided I had far too much stuff, so off I went.9

Hi grannykate
Your post resonated with me.i have just done a snowy journey to railway station, usually back home at 0645 and one of my daily jobs is to check out my banks. You are obviously onto the budgeting thing . I am trying to pay off my mortgage/save for a car purchase so doing serious number crunching..i can drift easily and take my eye off the pennies if i dont check daily.
Have you tried" debt snowflaking" ? ( very appropriate at moment) its when you get small amounts without expecting them?.you quickly shunt them into savings so they dont melt into the general budget. I use this method for extra saving. It can get a bit addictive but i think thats what helps. No one takes me seriously apart from the mse PADders site but i can get £50 to £80 a month doing it. Its made of unexpected refunds, cashback, items on offer i was going to buy anyway, vouchers for stuff i buy anyway, walking and saving car park fee, DH cutting own hair, my missed hair appts at moment, and lots of other ways.
I was thinking of your post when looking at the snow/flakes on the window ledge this morning piling up😊9 -
Morning all sorry been away for ages life just got in the way and yesterday a death in the family just never ends does it? I'm happy to report I have still been getting rid of bits of clutter as I come across them but yesterday managed a whole bin bag of stuff from on top of the wardrobes in my bedroom of doom. As binmen come today thought it was the ideal time only problem was I couldn't reach them so my 12 year old had to help being oh so slightly taller than me ( she hasn't stopped laughing about it). So 1 more bag onto the total. Hope everyone's well not caught up with the thread yetvanquis £630/£3019 Robinson way £1207.41/1682.41

Morning all! Wow a medal too Mrs_SD, I shall wear it with pride 🏅 😁 I'm always very open about my mental health with pretty much everyone, it doesn't do well to struggle in silence and I find that if I start talking about when I'm having a difficult time, then others will open up too. That being said, feeling a lot better today after a long chat with my manager who reassured me that I'm on the right path and they're really pleased with what I'm doing.
I do a similar thing gettingthrifty with the little bits of cashback and survey money etc. - it all goes into the emergency fund. I also have auto-round ups on my main bank account where all the extra pennies go. Only about £40 in there at the moment but it's nice to know its there.
Managed to strip the beds and wash the sheets yesterday but that was about it. DH wanted lasagne for dinner tonight so I've been sensible and put the mince mixture in the slow cooker this morning and then all I have to do later is assemble while the oven is heating up. Hoping to get the bathroom cleaned today but will do it a little bit at a time over the course of the day.

I like that idea (getting thrifty) as I can build up my cash pot in safe for Christmas and Birthday money that way. I should probably count the money I am saving on hairdressers. Sun shining now so I've put accounts away and will tackle something off my cleaning bingo grid. I have some emails to answer and stuff to do for zoom meeting coming up but I've set tomorrow aside for that. Back onto calorie counting as weight not dropping anymore but creeping back on. Still 20 pounds down but need lots more off.

Sorry for your loss lynnsey30.
Hahaha giving the chocolate away wasn't generous. If it was in the house we could have worked our way through a couple of hundred bars of chocolate quite easily. Mr V could happily be Maid Marion. He is a fan of dressing up. He has a bag of dressing up clothes in the loft, from his previous career. He is still called upon to wear them on occasion, though not since lockdown sadly
Beautiful day here, cat house calling.

Gettingthrifty, I used to do the debt snowflaking, once when we were just married and literally hadn't a penny over at the end of the month. I would hand wash everything and put the launderette money in a jar for emergency/ treats. Then again when I first retired i too would walk from free parking and save car park cash. These are just examples and you 're
so right , it soon adds up. I've been doing the same since the virus arrived and now have 220 pounds in the treats virtual kitty for my next UK trip. Thanks for the tip about hairdressers. My hair is now on my shoulders and today I will add 80 euros( saved so far and next appointment will be when I have had the vaccine).
Nannywindow, I have the same problem with DH, who likes to have a stock of some food or other and then " goes off" the food and I usually eat it all up to avoid waste. Fine with organic honey, but not with the chickpeas we now have. I don't like chickpeas. Also me eating it all up just encourages him.
Now back to the decluttering
1 uu eye pencil
1 uu mascara
2 tubes very ood make-up
1 pile paper to compost, I'm still working on the bureau
1 packet of very ood prunes to bin - I've been seeing them everytime I opened the fridge door these last three years.
1 granny crochet blanket to CS - I'm doing a new one from my wool stash at the moment and possibly another one to go.
3 holey sheets to rag recycling.
2 about to be holey pillowcases.
I've been up on a step ladder in the walk in dressing / airing room and sorted all the sheets and pillowcases.Still too many duvets but all different thicknesses
Total is 12+ 119=131/365
Big hugs from me and stay safe everyone.I
Next visit I'll report on how I'm sort on my CS habit!
