LETTER TO GOD...
There was a man who worked for Royal Mail whose job was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no actual address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read:
Dear God,
I am an 93 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had £100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension cheque. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited my only living friend over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with, have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me?
Sincerely,
Edna
The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers.. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few quid. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected £95, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends.
Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read:
Dear God,
How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friend. We had a very nice day and I told my friend of your wonderful gift.
By the way, there was £5 missing. I think it was those c**ts at the Post Office.
Sincerely,
Edna0 -
right then,what a day!!
special deliveries are through roof now.very busy and much busier over last year.
today we had so many SD items i had drivers taking out redeliveries and SD items only.
so no new packet deliveries at all!!
mail centres are struggling as well.this is going to have a knock on effect on all mail items.
we physically are struggling with SD's as we dont have space to process/store them as they neeed to be kept in the secure 'locker' area.0 -
Custardy,
I know why RM is short staffed (especially in Edinburgh) ................all their posties are delivering to me!:j :j :j
I had 3 parcel deliveries today and a seperate mail/card delivery!
Sorry to everyone else,I am obviously more important!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::j I love bargains:jI love MSE0 -
this happens just now because................
yoiu have your foot postie
your van postie
both on set duties for your area
however just now you have seperate duties clearing packets on van runs so they tend to just grab a trolley of packets for a certain area (eg gorgie in edinburgh) and go.0 -
oh no real issues with special deliveries.some later 'missorts' but still in plenty of time ot be sent out on vans well before 1pm0

well what a day.started at midnight and worked right through to 2pm.
who says its an easy life
forget phoning your local office.
also be wary of organising online redeliveries/local collect.we havent been able to fulfill this for 3 days.
the list has been 17pages+ and we just cannot do this with everything else.
however we cant 'opt out' of the online system.
spent 6.5 hours purely serving on the door dishing out parcels etc.most of that time with a queue out of the door and up the car park!
i was so busy i gave out a customs charge without chargingi'll be getting some hassle from the managers for that but hey its done now
still plenty of moaners, people not reading cards, people with no cards or those with DHL/parcelforce/buisness post etc etc0 -
I had to collect a recorded delivery from my local sorting office today.......
It was manic
I dunno how the fuk they managed to find the parcels...
They had 4 people on the desk serving........
I have to say it did look like there was no system behind the counter
But they found mine.....:T
But the lady behind me was moaning like a lady dog
I did advise her that if she could find her parcel any quicker maybe she
should offer to go and look for it0 -
Crikey, you'd think it was Christmas or something... oh, hang on...0
