Be prepared for delays. Our local mail centre has approx 230 Yorks full of mail and they haven't got the staff to start sorting it

Some football tickets were posted to me on 5th December and they still haven't arrived, so I'm guessing they are stuck in the mail centre. Thankfully the venue has arranged duplicate tickets that I can collect tomorrow.
Here I go again on my own....

well i have been in on nightshifts these last few nights(plus normal day shift)
this is doing whats called diversion sorting.
so for the edinburgh area the delivery offices get edinburgh/central scotland mail sent to the offices for sorting into postcode areas or 'towns' as we reffer to them.
this is where mail with no postcodes becomes a pain as i dont know every street in central scotland so either make a best guess or return it to the diversion sorting .
the very process of diversion causes delays as insead of mail going to the mail centres with specific sorting procedures they are sent to (in edinburgh) 12 or more delivery offices.
once you have finished diversion sorting the sorted mail is sent to the mail centre for distribution to the correct 'towns'
all those poorly addressed items sit until the next round of diversion.

last night i saw items as far back as mid november!!!

packets are crazy busy and the last couple of days have seen letters/cards really ramp up.
RM in their wisdom have decided to move the goalposts somewhat this year by continuing with door2doors(the unaddressed junk mail) and mail sort over december.usually this is held back after the 1st week in december.
this puts you in the position of getting machine sorted mailsort items to put in before any 'real' mail so cards etc could be dealyed but the mailsort junk gets though

    interersting day today

on friday a woman came down look, ing for an RD letter.40 minutes after having the card left.
after being told it wouldnt be back she refused to leave the office.
in the end she had to be removed from the office being toldf IF the item was back it would be on delivery saturday.

today she is back (i didnt deal with her on friday) and goes right int5o rant mode when her items not back.
i try and explain/placate her but the argument escalates and being scum she cant handle it and starts with personal insults.
i refuse to deal with her from this point and she takes a swing at me!!!!
obviously i dodge it as a 5" woman ith more chins than personality aint gonna hit me when she telegraphs the swing :D
after missing she then asks me out for a fight.

people wonder why the phone never gets answered, its because im wasting my time dealing with this type of idiot
  • We had a letter at work this morning saying that following the strike action earlier in the year, the backlog of mail has now been cleared. However we had pretty much exactly the same letter about a month ago... And our very own resident postal-person is informing us that this is untrue. What on earth are they doing?? LOL

So... Did you fight her? ROFL
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

  • Slightyly off topic - sorry - but I've noticed that a couple of you are Posties so I'll pounce whilst you are here!

I've not had any post for 3 days, which considering the freebies and junk I sign up for is totally unheard of, I've only ever gone for one (working) day without post in the 3 years at this address.
Any idea what could be wrong or where I can enquire about my post?
Thanks for any help you can give

I'm not a posty! but it is probably just because of the busy xmas season. If you are concerned, give rouyal mail, or your local royal mail sorting office a call :o
    I :heart::coffee:
