I had to laugh - I had to walk past the dinnerladies yesterday and they laughed at me (not in a horrible way) as I was in Bah Humbug mode and I think my expression gave me away - tbh I laughed at their reaction. Was a combination of stress/ lots to do I think.

Morning everyone, I think I have a relative of GI's screamer outside my kitchen window. She is about 4 and has understood that school is voluntary today and tomorrow in France, in case people want to isolate for 7 days before Christmas (but they've been telling us since June that there is no risk from kids!) What she hasn't understood is that her dad has to go to work and so she is going to school. And my strip light over the cooker in the fireplace alcove has gone on the blink and won't stop flashing!
OH has gone to office so can get on with jobs, must make gooseberry chutney to use up the frozen fruit and make space in the freezer.
WM on
Bedroom done
Time to have some porridge and find my SMILE.9 -
Good morning,
More hugs winging out especially for Narc0 and for YL, and everyone else under silly paid stuff pressure when that is the last thing we all need.
Last day at job 2 today before the Christmas break, although there will be 3 of us in the office today which will leave me cowering at one end to get the distance between us.
SD wedding was lovely, unique, sad, friendly - all the above. After all when there are only 15 people in the room ( but way more trying to follow on z00m), you do get to know all the other guests. From a distance and all wearing masks for a lot of the time though.
I have dragged some oddments from the freezer for dinner, stripped the bed, put the wm on, and am about to do the school run.Have a lovely day all. YL, I hope your papers are exactly where you think they are. Mademoiselle - maybe hang a bauble from it and call your strip light a festive flashing light??Take care all and be kind to yourselves x9 -
Morning all.
I've only been in our office once since March Fayolle and even though there was no one in my section I still only managed 2 hours before the anxiety kicked in so much that I had to phone the boss and say I was going to work at home the rest of the day. Best of luck maintaining social distance.
Yet another day of not getting much flying done yesterday but DH did do the washing up and put the laundry on to dry for me so those are two less jobs to worry about. Already put another load on this morning so we're starting to make a dent in the pile.

Well that's it for uni until Jan 20.....now I just have 4 reports to write. However i have sent in all the requests for exam arrangements so there is no pressure as admin finish tomorrow so nobody will be sending reports out before 3 Jan (well the only pressure is if I leave them too long I will forget what the students were like, despite my copious notes). Happily I finished on a good note; today's student was delightful.
Had drum lesson and coming back through town I got flowers to do the church arrangements and a few magazines to go in everyone's bag of little presents.
Mr N kindly waited until I was home from my lesson before showing me the text from our friend; A is in hospital and has less than 2 months; husband not allowed to be with her. Heartbreaking which is pretty much what I said 2 days ago.
It's going to be ready meals this evening by the fire; I may or may not start a report.
Mr N was meant to visit MIL today but had a call this morning to say 2 care home staff members are positive so visits cancelled. They plan to test residents tomorrow and Monday in order to allow limited visiting.
Rang my mum who is very laid back about us going into tier 3 on Sat; she is still 2. We won't be seeing anyone between now and going to see her next Wed, other than a very distanced church service on Sunday.
Hugs to all.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -

Thanks Fayolle. They were gathered up by my assistant and locked in the filing cabinet first thing, she is a star, I couldn't do my job without her, and I get another member of staff in January after the interviews this week. I am terrible at interviewing because I want someone who is keen and I think I can get on with, the rest I am not so bothered about!!
Officially winding down at work now, I have a lot of loose ends to tie up and one more meeting to get through. DS2 is home which is fantastic, lots to be happy about.
My Mum has just rung to say they have had the vaccine, which she is good, I told her she still has to be careful though.8 -
Is it never going to end? There have been urgent requests for Admin volunteers to work on the covid wards. Obviously not enough people volunteered as now people are going to be redeployed. No discussion. No warning. Just an email saying fill this in and if you don't, we will. We've always said we are just numbers. Seems we were right. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Do I really want to know?
Emptied bins brought in and the last of DS's rubbish put in to start the refilling process.
Bit the bullet and phoned the garage to ask about possibility of replacing ignition cylinder, cost etc. It's not straightforward, but he can cost it up for me when the Ford parts place reopens. Some of the work has to be out- sourced so it may not be cost effective but we'll see. He didn't say that but it's what I'm thinking.
A few more cards hand delivered on my way to work this morning.
Glad to hear that some of you have heard good news xx Hugs to those for who the news was less palatable xx
One day at a time.
