YORKSHIRELASS said:When my boys were little I think I had this idea that one day I would wave them off into their own lives, happy and content, and my job would be done. No-one tells you that it is much tougher than that, and when they are adults you can only do so much to help.
Paid stuff today. GF's work tops are drying on the radiator. Their WM fitting problem should be sorted on Saturday 🤞. Their broadband should be sorted this afternoon 🤞. I will feed the birds and put out what recycling I can - burgundy bin is emptied tomorrow yayyy. I already have a stack of cardboard ready to start refilling it.
I've applied for the Council Tax Single Person reduction- with only one installment left to pay I'm wondering if I'll be due a refund?
Have a good day. Stay safe.

Good morning everyone, a late check in from me but
Bed made, clothes picked up, windows opened & closed (with a 20 minute airing)
WM on
Ironing done and put away
Living room tidied
Kitchen tidied, recycling out, WU put away
I know what we're having for lunch
I want to find more rubbish so bin goes out full tomorrow evening, have a couple of presents to wrap, and need to do a click and collect order for OH to pick up tomorrow, off to check banking and update spending spreadsheet

Morning all
since i pottered about yesterday half finishing various jobs I still haven't done a room. I have written cards and wrapped though, which means I have stuff ready to bin. So the ironing board is still up. (Temporary back-saving wrapping table).
i did list an item I photographed two weeks ago (at least) and it has a bid. So that's good.
So I plan to get up shortly.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

MorningRound, even if you only have one payment left to make, I would still ask / fill in the form or what ever your council does, a few quid is better than nothing, and you are entitled to it, why leave it in the gov / council coffers? don't know what you pay but example £100 per month - 25% (I think) = £25 refund or there abouts. My boiler has a small leak, since I re did the kitchen, the workmen boxed in the boiler at my request, for what ever reason I opened the door today, to find a small amount of water, and the mdf type shelf 'bubbled' so it has clearly been going on for some time, now it has 2 saucers under each corner, and a 'due' is on his way for Tuesday.Mince out defrostingBirds fed, 2 pheasants and a load of seagulls have already been by.I too will go and buy some stamps but not many as I tend to do most things by email, I thought the price hike as a couple of pence, according to mse email it is 13pBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Fayolle said:Can I ask for some opinion - Christmas boxes for helpful people like our postie (who is the best and saves us all 25 mile round trips to small town to retrieve parcels etc) and milkman (who delivers at 4.30am without fail). Do people do something, and if so what? I
Glad you're warmer, Narc0
.
Late start here this morning, though I was in the WAC between 4.00 (when Rosie started crying to go out) and 5.30, then didn't wake up again until DH got up at 9.15, so now playing catch-up. I need to go out to post letters, buy F&V, Christmas cards and a gift voucher, take Posada photos (which will involve standing chatting to each person for about 10 minutes, often much more ) and deliver the reference I wrote yesterday. I have phonecalls to make, a wall in the under-stairs cupboard to paint before I can put back the coats and shoes, and last year's Christmas cake, pudding and jars of mincemeat to check. I am not getting on very well with planning the service for Sunday
So far I have opened the curtains, tidied the LR, S&S'd the kitchen, FUPA some of the clean washing from yesterday, and checked finances - this time I have remembered to cancel an unwanted Direct Debit. I too may have peaked already!

Older beasties who have left home are MUCH harder work than ones at home... that weirdly when they leave and come back they are even harder.. they are independent but re-dependent.. it's weird.. I am very very ready for DS1 to live elsewhere .. he is 29.. he has left and come back twice now.. first time he was back 4 month this time he has been back 16 months and saying he will stay another year at least.. He has the middle room as his bedroom and it is an absolute pigsty.. I have had the stuff to decorate in there for about 18 months but I can not do it with him here, and he would just spoil it no doubt. He has broken the cooker, the vacuum, hundreds of glasses, tv unit door and a sofa.. I have made him replace the cooker and pay for repairs on the vacuum.. oh he broke the front door too, twice.. He costs and extra £30 a month in gas/electricity.. and is generally a ginormous pita!
... And I wouldn't want him to be anywhere else.. at least here I know he is safe and clean and can eat and sleep, if he wasn't here I dread to think where he would be or what he would be doing..

Not done too badly today,
Xmas tree box put away
Presents all wrapped
Handbag emptied and put away (I had changed bag more than a week ago)
Lunch made and eaten,
Walked very briskly with OH (pace of under 10 minutes per km for more than 4 km)
Cleared up lunch
WULTD
TD on
2 extra bags from garage into bin
Trying to get my head round DD2 living here all the time, I agree with Pigpen and given the circumstances I wouldn't have it any other way, but rules will have to be laid out.

I peaked early. First shift done, dogs walked twice, finances sorted, dailies done, kitchen sink scrubbed, washing up to date, dogs presents wrapped. Going to read my book now before next shift.Spend less now, work less later.8

Pigpen its true about the weird leaving home then coming back thing. When my DS lived in at work he was paying £65 a week rent for his room, including all bills. They had a cleaner for communal areas, no-one quibbled about how much electric or gas they used so they tumble dried everything, had the heating on full all day and didnt care about leaving the lights on. He got into some really bad habits which I am trying to make him unlearn!
Tough day at the paid stuff and I am tired now. Back at it in an hour for two more meetings so I am letting DH get on with tea (he has been home all day). Bit fed up with the world generally today, I think part of it is that I find it hard working from home when other people are in the house not working.
Our duvet cover dried over airer, clean washing put away, dog's crate hoovered out and blanket washed, utility swept. Food now then back to paid stuff.11 -
Round you should get your CT reduced by a quarter for the last third of the year so probably a refund is due.
Cleaned kitchen and bathroom before I left for work.
