Hi Julicorn, I’ve been hiding a bit since last summer. I’m still saving for the extension and will need a bit of a loan when it starts next month, but I’d still like to join the challenge. (Sounds silly I know) It motivates me to continue to save, plus I need to reduce the mortgage to the next LTV bracket before the mortgage rate ends. So I’ve got a smaller target of £2,000 which I’m going to be firm on my TTs and my budget has been worked to a T. I’m #121 happy to move but looks like you have a quite a few takers so guessing I will stay where I am? Thanks as always for doing this and I’ll pop over and update the 2020 forum as I did make a few small payments at the end of the year.MFW #1211

waterplate said:Hi, I’ve decided to take the plunge and become a MFW. We have a mortgage which had a balance of over £133000 this morning before I used a chunk of our savings to pay off the maximum allowed 10% for this calendar year. So I will go into 2021 with a mortgage of £119,000 and a target of £6000. This may not work out as my husband’s hours at work have been halved but he’s looking for something else to fit in and around the kids. And I love a challenge!
You've got #111.

Just wanted to say thank you all for signing up to the challenge, welcome to all the newcomers and welcome back to everyone who's taken part before! I hope you all find this thread motivating and helpful in reaching your goal, and I can't wait so see everyone's progress - maybe we'll even see a few people become mortgage free in 202115

#132 here @julicorn, hopefully just in time to keep my number. Smaller target for me this year as my number one priority for 2021 is to try to pay off all or most of my recently taken out car loan, so any extra £ will be going there. So I’ll go for £1,200, so at least I will keep the habit of chipping away.1

Happy New Year all 🥳
#3 here. Please can I increase my 2021 target to £17,500 Julicorn? Found out on Christmas Eve that I’m eligible for a bonus next year that I didn’t know about and also being in Tier 4 means I’ll probably be saving more than expected for January at the very least.
I’ll be making my first OP of 2021 on Monday! Exciting 😄Thanks!MFW

Hello! can I please register for 2021 challenge please? Fell slightly short of my target this year and finances might be a bit tighter next year so can I have a target of £1500.
Thanks MerryMortgage free wannabe #581 -
Don’t mind the number I have, currently #114. MerryMortgage free wannabe #581

Hi Julicorn, can I join please? After finding myself unexpectedly, but happily, single in 2019 I took a big leap of faith and in August this year, at the age of 60, took out a 15 year mortgage and bought my forever home. My goal is to overpay my mortgage so that I can afford to stay in my home when I reach retirement age in 6 years time.I have been fortunate that the stamp duty holiday has already allowed me to make overpayments that have effectively doubled my monthly payments to date and I'd like to set a, slightly ambitious, target of £10,000.00 for 2021.Thank you!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8913
