So speaking to a Scottish Power operator a couple of weeks ago, I was told that the Energy Exclusive tariff has no end date.

Over 6 months since leaving YE (never transferred to SP as my supply went live with Green) and 12 weeks after receiving my final bill, countless phone calls, emails and a formal complaint to Scottish Power  I have finally received a cheque for the full credit on my account. Happy to finally be able to put this to bed once and for all!

I left SP months ago, but my understanding of reading ofgem guidance is that the tariff was always going to end around July. I would also take anything a customer service agent says with a pinch of salt.

4.3. The direction to be a SoLR cannot last longer than six months. After that time the SoLR remains the supplier for any customers with which it has deemed or other contracts. However, after the direction ceases to have effect the SoLR’s deemed contract price must revert to its normal rate.

Just got an email notifying me that the Energy Exclusve tariff will end on 1 July (with subject "Action required Mr Feral Hog – Your tariff and prices are changing").
So it's a case of be moved to their standard tariff, or choose another of their tariffs, or switch. All available SP tarriffs appear to represent a price rise. That includes the "Exclusive Fixed June 2022 Y1 tariff", which they say "is only available for customers who were former Tonik Energy and Yorkshire Energy customers on selected tariffs".
I'm braced for Green to go out of business next winter because their prices are too low :)
God help those of us who are with Symbio, Neon Reef, PFP  etc - currently much cheaper than Green in my part of the world !!
  • Anyone looking at a double-bust supplier within the space of 12 months? Imagine a fair few YE customers went for the next cheapest on comparison sites when everything hit the fan last time :/

Already happened to me as I got SOLR twice in a year (Breeze to BG then later in the same year YE to SP).  So if Avro (I've left them but they still owe me a credit balance) were to go now it would be 3 X SOLR for me in the space of 2 years.  And actually it would be 4 x SOLR inside 2 years if Bulb (just about to leave them for Eon Next) were to fold as well.... :(

Yep.  Got SOLRd from YE to SP, left to go to Simplicity as soon as I could and 8 days after the switch Simplicity went bust 😥.
  • I went for Octopus myself as I couldn't be dealing with the hassle of this all happening again (and the inevitable hike in unit rates when finding a new supplier). That said, who knows if even Octopus is 'too big to fail'?

Yep, after YE went under I moved to people's energy...

I made sure I under estimated my usage so I don't have much credit this time so I'm not so bothered.. had about £250 with YE... This time I have ignored the advise and have gone straight in for a switch to Sainsbury's (again underestimating usage).
