Absolutely raging. Just got a letter from Scottish power, £200 in debit. They set up a direct debit and haven’t taken anything, because that’s what a normal company does isn’t it? Not bother collecting the money. They haven’t given so much as a murmur to me, so didn’t know my supposed account number to login. They only got in touch cos I’m switching. I have £100 in ye credit and £70 in the bank they never bothered taking but it’s the principle. Will be glad to be shot of these jokers!
Are you raging about the amount?  Because if you are, is this based on what you have actually used since being with SP?  Or are you foaming because they haven't taken a DD yet?

FWIW, I have already left them (2 days ago) and I reckon I need to pay them in total £205 (from 6th December-2nd February inc) so once their accounting kicks in I will be in debt for a similar amount to yourself.  This is not an unreasonable amount although YE would have been cheaper for sure. They are yet to take any DD's set up in my bank account.  You are probably not alone by any means but if you are still in the process of just having initiated a switch (rather than having already left) you may well end up owing them more once the dust settles!

If it were a regulatory requirement then there is a case to be made for it coming off the final bills. Though, as you say, I won't be holding my breath.
My understanding is that SP (as the SoLR) would have to cover any shortfall once final billing is done, since our credit balances are protected. The challenge here would be getting that £30 onto our balance in the first place.
I think we'd be better whistling in the wind than thinking we could get £30 compo :D
I complained to SP a couple of weeks ago, and chanced my arm, asked for £30 per fuel and got a £60 credit immediately.
Well done - let us know when it appears in your account.

It was interesting to see Martin Lewis himself on his TV programme last night acknowledge that he was aware of how poor SP had been dealing with our situation. He also suggested that customers of Green Energy Network were luckier as their SOLR is EDF (who are guaranteeing to match existing tariffs for a period of time).

Let's hope OFGEM have learned their lesson and will stop awarding SOLR contracts to Scottish Power.

Luckily I'm finally rid of Scottish Power, but fully anticipate they will screw up my final bill, considering the mess they've made of things so far!

Well they screwed mine up but as it's in my favour I don't think I'll raise a complaint 😅

Not raging specifically at the amount, though you are right, usage would absolutely have cost less with ye, but again the tariff was clearly unsustainable. It’s more that they haven’t taken any money, yes it’s still sat in my account. If this sorry situation hadn’t arisen I’d be paying my £70 a month, using a little of my credit and be ticking along nicely, hard not to be spitting about it because like most people that pick a cheapie tariff every last penny counts. My switch finalises the 9th so hopefully not too much more money to lose. I used to willingly use this lot years ago, now I look back I am unsure why that was!

I don't follow this logic. I'm glad they haven't taken any money from me yet.

It's a deemed tariff and is likely fixed for 6 months under Ofgem's SoLR directions.

I get you, just hate paying lump sums, would rather pay gradually. Hoping my new supplier holds up cos don’t fancy this during winter again next yr 😆

Worth watching on demand? As mentioned 3 or 4 pages back, I contacted OFGEM and got very short shrift. I made the point that SP had a bad reputation already with their existing customer base, without giving them yet more custom, and my electricity tariff was 25% more expensive. I was made to feel like a 6 year old by their response.

This is the problem with switching/competition. I must have switched 10 times over the years - most of my own volition, but also through cessation of trading and mergers and acquisitions. The most frustrating is when you end up back with the same company you started with. And if I had responded to all the switching approaches I've had, including from MSE, I could have switched 100 times.
