somewhere, there will be a screen, a scanner, a utility to connect to your router, if you can see it in control panel, networks, or in control panel, try looking at the start, programs menu's, or searching for wireless. When you find it, you will have to connect to your ssid, and enter the wep key for your router.

if you have used wpa for the router encryption, change it to wep.

we keep getting a netgear box appear, with wep key on it....and network name, and various other things will the network name be the sidd ????

:j we received data but still can not connect to a web page
  • is the router using wep?

does ipconfig give you a 192.168.x.x address? If not, you aren't really connected, and need to check the encryption type and wep pwd matches. Also check the router is on g+b or b wireless in wireless settings
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

just done ipconfig and got some additional date.....

    ip address 192.168.0.1
    sub net mask 255.255.255.0
    default gateway 192.168.0.1
    dchp server 192.168.0.1
    dns server 192.168.0.1
    lease obtained 13th december 2007
    lease expired 14th december 2007
  • that means you are connected (unless you have just plugged the ethernet cable in)

    next try,

    start
    run
    cmd

    ping www.google.com

    if that doesn't work

    ping 66.249.91.103

if they both work, try IE
