    it says....

connect using ieee802.11b wlan network adapter pc card

    white box below that
    components check
    client for microsoft networks
file and printer sharing for microsoft networks
    internet protocol (tcp/ip)
    these are all ticked....

just to add, gone into netgear, wlan wireless settings
clicked sire survey, pressed scan and it came up with jen net..
checked back and we had a signal (but thats not our internet)
so we must be connecting on someone elses, maybe i not set the router up right !!!

  • is the wireless switch (left hand side), and light on, on the laptop

you need to scan on the laptop, and connect to the netgear, not the other way around

we can not see a switch on left hand side, there is 3 green lights on the front of laptop and 3 not lit....

just going to see if i can find an online manual to tell you what green lights are on ..
  • when looking from the front, there should be a switch on the left hand side of the front panel, next to volume control

the wifi light is to the left of it.

:o doh.... stupid or what (me i mean)
there is a light its amber colour ...
  • somewhere, there will be a screen, a scanner, a utility to connect to your router, if you can see it in control panel, networks, or in control panel, try looking at the start, programs menu's, or searching for wireless. When you find it, you will have to connect to your ssid, and enter the wep key for your router.

if you have used wpa for the router encryption, change it to wep.
