broadband -- i want to go wireless, how do i do it ??

    wireless is turned on, it is searching for network...

    it annoying me think i will have to ring supplier for help
  • on a similar vein,what does a wireless usb adapter do that the wireless router doesn't and do i need to get one as well as a wireless router ?
  • adapter is the receiver, router is transmitter. Depends if laptop is wireless already,

    If the laptop is wireless already, then simply turning it on it will spot the wireless network and (XP) you will get a little box pop up when you turn it on to say wireless networks detected.

    Quickly click that and a bigger box pops up and you will see your wireless network.

    Click to connect. And if the router is encrypted you will be asked for the password. If it isn't encrypted (open to the whole world and his dog to use) then you'll just be on the internet straight away.

    no, your laptop connects to the router, the router handles the isp. IE, tools, internet options, connections should be never dial a connection,

    is the wireless light on front of router lit?

    yes its on, my laptop as a card in it, and theres an amber light flashing on it

    i have done this it then says at the bottom of the page before i apply it

    what do i put in for the security encryption ??
