NatWest application timescale

I am a FTB (hoping to be anyway!), and am interested in recent NatWest application time scales as they are not providing me with much information or updates on progress.
30/10 offer on house accepted.
02/11 mortgage application put in.
03/11 documents requested, sent by digi-docs and confirmed as received within hours.
As it stands today (12/11) my documents on the tracker are still showing as received but not looked at.
I have called NatWest to ask for timescales and their answer is “when we get to them”. I don’t know if i’m being too impatient or if I can politely encourage them to move things along. I am not using a broker and there is only myself and the house I want to purchase in the chain so had hoped it would be straight forward and swift- LTV 85% and no adverse credit.
Has anyone had recent dealings with NatWest and can give me their timescale from application?

My brother-in-law has gone through Natwest and they were quite quick. They also had an online account which showed the status at each stage.

It took a few weeks for them as they needed the valuation survey to be carried out too. Overall though it really wasn't long at all, if you look at other providers its taking months.

Taking out weekends, its really only been 8 working days. You could ask if they are booking in a valuation?

  • I’m a month in from the application date and today is valuation day

    Check the natwest SLA site
  • Thank you both for your messages. I know they haven't arranged a valuation as they told me they don’t until they have looked through documentation and then will ask for payment to carry out valuation. The tracker says documents will be reviewed with 2-4 working days but I presume that’s no longer valid due to current demand. Perhaps I am just being too impatient, the sellers estate agents is wanting updates as the sellers mortgage has gone through already so they are hoping to get things moving quickly. But I can only go as fast as NatWest are moving. Time to practice my patience I guess!
  • Hmm they took money out for my valuation before it got to the underwriters

    maybe check again?
  • I have offered to pay when I called them hoping it would help speed things up but they told me they will request payment once documents have been looked at. Perhaps I’ll call again today... polite pressure!

Go on the live chat on the website. Takes a while to get through but they are very helpful once connected. We went from AIP to full offer in 15 days!
  • Thanks for the advice. I’ll get on that today. I’m happy to wait for the full mortgage to be processed and completed but for the amount of working days it’s been since I submitted the documents I had hoped they would have at least looked at them by now. Worried about how long it will take for them to do everything else if this part is slow and don’t want to get the seller worried about progress.
  • Our application was submitted on 5th October, they took money for valuation on 8th October. Valuation was booked for 27th October, they received results on 29th and issued an offer on 3rd November. FTB too. Valuation took long because we asked for a survey too.
  • We are applying with Natwest currently, AIP 22/10, full application submitted 30/10 valuation done on 11/11 so I have my fingers crossed for offer today? But I guess more likely next week! Our mortgage advisor has been very good though and called Natwest this week to ask if they can mark our file as urgent, good luck everyone with your applications!
  • Thanks for the time Atlantic2011, we applied a few days apart!
I contacted NatWest (again!) today on the chat service, and pushed them for when things would be looked at and they said my documents would be looked at today before 5:30 and that a valuation hadn’t been instructed but had been sent to an underwriter. Admittedly I have zero idea what that actually means, but at least I’m getting some communication from them rather than “it will be dealt with when we get to it”.
