This exact same thing happened around the corner from us. Amazon van drove into parked car. Had clear video caught on ring doorbell. Owner took it to police and they couldnt give a monkeys. I believe the owner is now pursuing through their car insurance.

I had a broken door mirror about 10 years ago. I fixed it. I am sure it's far cheaper to just fix it than to get insurers involved.

That might be true if this wasn't a brand new 20 plate beamer , no secondhand parts and will only be available off the dealer for a ridiculous high cost , that's assuming there is no damage to the door fixing either

It might be cheaper in this instance to contact the police to report it and going through your insurance

You could of course remind the scaffold company that you have CCTV of the damage and you know that the van is uninsured and untaxed so to make you go away they simply pay for the damage

It might be uninsured and untaxed but from the way the OP worded it earlier, they wouldn't know for sure as they stated that they could only read a partial registration:

Update - So I have found some video footage from a neighbour that shows what looks to appear the exact said van (same make as van form reg on note) although the number plate is somewhat blurred - can make out the make of the vehicle and couple of the numbers from the reg.

Some online checks show the truck as not being insured and no road tax.

I always wait for this kind of response whenever anyone refers to 'wing mirror'.

It makes me wonder if some people actually do scour the interweb forums for things to correct people on :D.

Gave you a freebie there ;)

They can't wait to pounce on "road tax", "car tax" either. It must feel very self satisfying to correct that.

It's very satisfying to correct road tax. After all it was abolished in 1937.
