I cannot work from home so what tax relief will I get, shouldn’t I get the same as those working from home? I travel 50 miles a day and pay for parking I work 37.5 hours a week and continue to do so , what relief is there for me?
Eligible for free parking after first lockdown, discounts in supermarkets for NHS staff, discounts on broadband etc for NHS staff
But not for us in health and social care. I'm also extremely jealous of the NHS pension.

I'm not complaining, merely pointing out there's always people worse placed than you OP.
Plenty of jobs available if you think the pension is that good considering that you have to work until 67 to get the full amount and it’s reduced by ~4% per year early that you take it,
Trust me - not many get the full whack for a variety of reasons - mainly the staff are too burnt out and/or decrepit to work that long.
Like I say - come join if you really believe it’s that good
(not saying it isn’t good - just not as good as people think when all is considered)
But we need people to work in social care...
I never said we didn’t - the point being that there is a choice.

If you think someone is getting something better than you then go join them instead of having a tantrum and going “waaah I want the nice toy but I want it where I am”

Fortunately, life doesn’t work like that

I think someone needs to reread this thread. The only 2 people I see having tantrums are you and the OP (both NHS workers).

Therefore it appears to be the complete opposite to the point you are arguing (with yourself) about and it is in fact you that should make an employment change if YOU are not happy.

Cut the OP some slack, its been a rough year for NHS staff, a lot are feeling burned out or very close to it.

I am happy with my job.
    I have criticised the OP
My first post in this thread was far more scathing than a lot of others
My issue is with the constant “gold plated pension blah blah” comments
If your pension is so bad and ours is so good - come work for the NHS is what I am saying
If you can’t beat them, join them

That's not the answer though, every worker should be able to access a decent pension, and should be paid enough to fund one!

As I said earlier, fortunately that’s not how life works.
All things aren’t equal - life is made of of choices and you have to accept the consequences of the choices that you make.
Some choices are made for us as well by evolution and genetics.
Make the most of what you have rather than be critical of what others have, especially if that choice was within you own power
Yes it would be nice if we were all equal etc etc but that social model doesn’t and wouldn’t ever work

But would other workers be happier with lower wages, working conditions, no bonuses etc?

You don't need to set aside all that much to accumulate a decent pension. £200/month from age 21 to 58 in a broad based low cost index fund and you'll have half a million waiting around to party for you.

Why should they have that?  NHS staff have much better pay and working conditions than social care staff, they also have better pensions.  Its not either/or.

That's an impossible amount for lots of people.
