I cannot work from home I work for the NHS

Think of it as a little bonus you get from working from home, if you don't work from home you don't get it.
The upset is that, for the majority of people, the saving in commuting costs outweighs the cost of teabags/ heating etc but not for all. So administratively cheaper and easier for hmrc to allow everyone WFH to claim the allowance.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The OP is squealing for help too.superbigal said:Surely everyone can see the point the OP is making is the majority of those working at home are NOT incurring additional costs but actually probably saving costs and time. I for one am fed up of people on this forum squealing for help, because the teabags they used to get in the office, they now need to pay for themselves.1 -
Eligible for free parking after first lockdown, discounts in supermarkets for NHS staff, discounts on broadband etc for NHS staffLel101 said:I cannot work from home so what tax relief will I get, shouldn’t I get the same as those working from home? I travel 50 miles a day and pay for parking I work 37.5 hours a week and continue to do so , what relief is there for me?10 -
But not for us in health and social care. I'm also extremely jealous of the NHS pension.Barny1979 said:

I'm not complaining, merely pointing out there's always people worse placed than you OP.3 -
Plenty of jobs available if you think the pension is that good considering that you have to work until 67 to get the full amount and it’s reduced by ~4% per year early that you take it,billy2shots said:

Trust me - not many get the full whack for a variety of reasons - mainly the staff are too burnt out and/or decrepit to work that long.
Like I say - come join if you really believe it’s that good
(not saying it isn’t good - just not as good as people think when all is considered)0 -
You are free to resign from the NHS and give up your gold plated pension and job security to work in the public sector doing something that can be done from home.Lel101 said:I think it would be fair to give those going into work the same tax benefits as those working from home

I keep reading that there is help for everyone who is having to self isolate but all the help seems to be for people already on benefits or who have low incomes. What about families like mine where we don't fall into the low income bracket but don't have endless amounts of money to continue to pay bills if we self isolate which we are having to do at the moment. I am working from home but my husband can't so without his wages for 2wks that's alot of money to lose and still have bills to pay1

I never said we didn’t - the point being that there is a choice.Aranyani said:

If you think someone is getting something better than you then go join them instead of having a tantrum and going “waaah I want the nice toy but I want it where I am”
Fortunately, life doesn’t work like that

Yes, and jump to the front of the queue in some shops, special shopping slots (not that I mind!)Barny1979 said:
