A very belated happy birthday to you @jakes-mum :)
My news this week is sad, I'm sorry.  Our dear dog, Monty, had to be put to sleep on Friday morning.  He was almost 15 and his hind legs had been showing signs of weakness for some time.  Thursday, we had a little walk to the park and back and a thoroughly normal day for him, but Friday morning he couldn't stand and we took the horrible decision that no pet owner wants to make.  We know it was the best for him and he has left us with a million wonderful memories but, as all pet owners know, they are so much more than pets and it is so strange not having him here with us.  The pain will pass, I know, but the weekend has been dreadful for DH and I as the house seems so very empty now.  We are looking to the future and the birth of our first grandchild in September, our little ray of hope  <3

Oh poor, poor Monty, Siju, I'm so terribly sorry for you and your DH, your DS and DD too. The good thing about our beloved pets is that on bringing them home they immediately they become a family member.

We all know that there lifespan will be limited because of the very nature of being a dog, cat or whatever pet we choose, and even though as they get older the time will inevitably come when we have to part with them, it's so awfully hard to actually get to that day and know it's the end of their life.
Having had many hairy friends of our own, I can really empathise with yours and Hubby's very lonely weekend without him.
Yes, indeed you have your Grandchild to look ahead to and it will be wonderful! In time things will get easier for you without your much loved Monty, but right now it's raw and you're so lost without him.
When you feel ready, why not ask your DD if you can babysit hers, you'll enjoy their company so much and, if nothing else, they might help you to know whether another hairy friend is the right thing to do.
Meanwhile, I'm sure Monty is in Dog Heaven, free from pain and romping with other dogs you've had or known.
    Bless you all.
    Much love Sue xx❤️xx

Thank you @Sue-UU for your kind words.  Yes it is still very raw, I've been so conditioned to think of him, look after him etc, it's very hard not to and I keep expecting to see him.  We've had many cats over the years but only one dog and now, we don't have any pets at all.  My DD has asked me to look after her two fur babies when she goes away in August and I am more than happy to do that, they are little bundles of joy.  At the moment, we have decided to have a break from pet ownership, having lost our beautiful cat at Christmas and now Monty so I don't feel I can go through any more heartache.  However, never say never and as DH said to me, the right cat/dog will find us in time I'm sure.  It will be nice to go away and not have the worry of any animals though.
In potting news, I have £6.72 to pot today.  Enjoy the rest of your week Potters, it seems the weather is improving, about time too! :)

Thoughts with you @siju  - I do understand the heartbreak you’re going through. The terrible price we have to pay for the great pleasure of having pets  :'(
Time does make things easier but losing them is so sad

  • @siju so sorry to hear the sad news about Monty, hope your happy memories will in time give smiles again.
Sorry I haven’t posted for a long while no physical coins as still working at home. Virtual pot is building nicely. Resisting using it to pay for wedding and honeymoon booking is difficult,, but will be good for Christmas spending or it will go into wedding honeymoon spending pot at that point!
Will have to spend time reading and catching up on the thread hope everyone is okay. I am pleased it’s Friday and some leave to look forward to next week too! 😀

Hello SPCers 😊 I hope you've had a lovely week !! Enjoy the week ahead too. Stay safe and healthy!!
If any members are either ill or low in any way, please take great care and I sincerely hope you're all well and that you will soon be back with us.  For now, take great care and be kind to yourselves. 3

Hi Siju, I'm not at all surprised that things are so hard for you, no doubt they will be for a while too. Dogs especially are so much a family member, it's so hard to let go at the end, let alone for it not to be so very hard on us owners, even more so after you've so recently lost your poor cat. No doubt both have left you with beautiful memories which will be a joy in time. Time will let you know what's best for you to do, for now, enjoy your DD's fur babies when they come to be cared for.

You've also got that little treasure to look forward to, me too as our eldest GDD is expecting a little GIRL in October!!!! 👶😊 She was very reticent about finding out the gender of the baby as she loves the surprise, but she already has 2 darling boys, so hasn't any little girl clothing as she was convinced she was having another boy and had given all their clothing to our younger GDD at the birth of her little boy. So it came as a lovely surprise when she & hubby were told, though I bet she wishes she'd waited until the birth now, still she can look forward to its arrival so much more now as well as enjoy buying clothes, as in her heart of hearts she desperately wanted a little girl, but was convinced it was a boyl!
Brilliant potting Siju and be kind to yourself.

Excellent potting Money_Choices!!! You're doing very well indeed just lately, keep up the good work!

I agree with all you've said Ant, it's so true.
    Nice work with the potting!

Lovely to see you Welshspendthrift, and wonderful news of your savings, virtual and otherwise!! I'd forgotten about the wedding, but you enjoy whatever it is you end up spending your savings on! I hope those grandchildren are well.

Another £20 transferred to SPC account.

Have a really SUPER BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, folks. Stay safe and healthy!   🤩

  • hi @Sue-UU it’s the first Sat I haven’t had the 3 year old GD for a while and she has insisted on a sleepover at nanny’s the last couple of weekends which is lovely but means a disturbed night for me as usually she wakes and wants nanny with her in her room! The youngest GD is 12 weeks tomorrow that went quick, they are on holiday with ex and his wife in north Wales where they moved to last year so nice for them! Wedding planning is moving ahead but a lull now as too soon did dress shopping yet! But Etsy browsing for those bits and pieces! Trying to keep to minimums and not go overboard! 16 months to the wedding 😀
hope everyone is enjoying a little more freedom and enjoy the bank holiday too

Hi, Hope everyone's enjoying getting out and about, (safely of course)  still potting away, Bonus of paying extra Water Rates (we pay by card and just carried on paying after the however many months they are usually paid) so that's given my pot a huge bonus.  It looks  as if she will finally be moving into her new home, nightmare time of origional buyers messing them around then finally admitting they couldn't get a mortgage so it looked as if the house w08ld have  to go back on the market. Fortunatley one of the other potential buyers was still interested. Just dodged the bullet of them coming to stay with us! I love them dearly but the thought of having them here full time ......

Oh bless her, welshspendthrift, she sounds adorable even though she messes with your sleep patterns. No doubt she's enjoying herself with granddad.
By golly, your little one's birth seems yonks ago, I think Covid's messed with the speed of time for us all. If your wedding goes at such speed you'll be married in no time!! 👰 Enjoy the shopping and look after yourself, your treasures too.

Hello again Lost, a wonderful sum, hubby's too!! Til next time!

Hi Lucy, hubby & I haven't been out a lot yet, mostly because as soon as they say it's ok, but beware comes the news of the Indian variant!! I don't think it's too close to us - yet, but..!!
Still, we live in the countryside so we get our for good walks, when it's not too wet.
Very well done with potting your water rates!! It paid off nicely. 🤗
So pleased to hear your DD is moving into her house, though I understand your thoughts of them staying with you, too much of a good thing after the nest has been empty!! 😉
    Look after yourself.

Keep very safe and healthy, folks....yet again!!!!! >:)
