Well done on the weight loss 🥳 I usually wear smart clothes for work but since I’ve been working from home all I’ve worn is leggings and jeans. I’ve hardly worn any make up or jewellery and I can’t remember the last time I blow dried my hair.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

    Hi Izzy and Sun Addict
Im toying with the idea of wearing sequins when I next go out for a meal. Mind you I haven’t a clue where my makeup or jewellery is, I put perfume on but that’s it at the moment. Saying that I did have to buy face cream for the first time in 2 years because I only got bar soap and a nice sponge with integral soap for Xmas this year.  I’m not fussy if I find something suitable as face cream I’ll use it.  I’ve got loads of sun lotion if I run out of body lotion though.
As soon as the better weather comes I’ll have to get use to shoes and sandals cos I’ve lived in my work trainers, ugg boots and slippers since last year.

Winter is definitely here I think, we haven’t snow but it’s so cold already so I think there will be frost during the night.
I’m on annual leave for the next week, which although I can’t do anything I’m quite looking forward to. I’ve decided that I’ve got plenty of food in so this weeks shopping money will go off the debt. I’ll need milk and fresh stuff later in the week but I’ll collect that when I’m out for a walk.
I really need to hit the diet properly again, we fell off the wagon on Friday having chocolate and then fish and chips on Saturday. Bad bad bad. We’ve been better today with a healthy chicken roast for tea. I had the rest of the broccoli soup from Thursday and a couple of crisp breads for lunch and just a yoghurt for breakfast so I’m back on board. Keep going dieters, we can do it.

    Hi guys
First day of my annual leave. OH was out early and I snuggled up and slept till 9. Since then I’ve done two loads of washing and am now on my second dishwasher load, I did a roast yesterday and as we live in a flat one of the rules is no machines after eight o’clock. It’s only polite and I couldn’t be bothered anyway.
I stripped the last of the chicken for lunch and have prepped tea, cauliflower cheese yum. In my delivery last week I bought two normal cauliflowers instead of an extra large, same price but ended up with a small and a medium ( in the past a normal has been really big) so used the small for the roast and the medium will easily do the two of us.
It’s bitterly cold here, but no snow luckily. There are nasty grey clouds, but these are moving over quite quickly so hopefully we’ll miss it. I hope everyone is ok if they have snow, and that they keep warm and safe. I not keen on walking on snow or ice any more, I don’t bounce as well as I used to and the hospital really doesn’t need me cluttering the place up if I break something.  DS2 has snow (again) and is getting a bit fed up of it now. Where he lives is hilly so they are used to it but the novelty still wears off.
I can’t get my feet warm so I’m going to retreat under a blankie this afternoon and watch tv now
    Keep warm

    Hi guys
Second day of my annual leave and I needed milk so walked to the corner shop. It’s ten minutes walk away and I was absolutely frozen 🥶🥶🥶 It blew the cobwebs away though.
I made speed soup for lunch. Cabbage, carrot , pepper and a lamb stockpot. My soups are nice but never seem to taste like what I put in 😂 I had a big mug for lunch which warmed me up again and the rest has gone in the freezer and I even remembered to label it this time. I’ve started using slightly less veg so it’s not really thick. I’ve got apples that are needing to be used soon so I’m going to attempt parsnip and apple tomorrow, I don’t know what herbs to use so I’ll have to research it I think.
I thought we were getting snow but it’s passed over now but the temperature is really dropping, a lot of the cars around here still haven’t defrosted from this morning. Luckily our van is diesel and may complain a bit but always starts in the end.
Anyway time to get on with tea
    Keep warm

I don't usually add any herbs when I make parsnip and apple soup but if you want to I think you need a strong herb like rosemary.

If your soup is too thick wouldn't it be easier just to add some extra stock or water rather than reducing the veg, that way you might get an extra portion from it?

  • I agree I add more water to each portion direct from kettle to get to thickness I want.

    Hi joedenise and Sarah
Im still experimenting at the moment to see what comes out best. The one I made today was I nice but I prefer it thicker and I’ve discovered that I can get three portions per jug, with a selection in the freezer. I might try a chunky one later in the week.
I’ve also got some smoked cheese in the fridge from Xmas that I might try a cheesy potato soup. So many soups to try 😋😋😋

    Hi guys
Oh today is soooo cold. It looked beautiful so I went for a walk and my poor little face was frozen. I called at L*dl on the way back and they had Goober ( peanut butter and grape jam) in, it was one of last weeks special offers so I thought I’d missed it. . Yummy. My shopping has come in at just over £13 so far this week and I might need potatoes but that will be all. We’re having leftover chilli for tea, with rice pud for afters. Warming winter food. I’m hoping it will warm me up cos I’ve been frozen all day even with the heating on.
I should have enough of this weeks wage left to get my credit card to under £1000, not much under but it will be 3 figures instead of 4. 🥳 A minor victory.
    Keep well and warm
