Just a thought MC why don't you open a normal Co-op to start with. They give you a few weeks grace to get a BR account when you go BR and then you can open the cashminder with them. Several people on here have done this and it has worked well for them.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

So, if I open a normal coop account it won't get frozen? I was just a bit worried about 'burning my bridges' by a coop account being frozen and then being stuck for getting a decent bank account. But that idea sounds ok - I could probably just transfer all the D/D info across?
These banks are going to think I'm mad. Cancelling d/ds from one, setting up for another, moving house  and setting new utilities up, then setting up new account after BR!!
Still, it will keep me on my toes.0 -
Good morning MC.
Only just managed to get back on the board. So catching up with posts.
Great idea to keep a diary so helpful to others as well as yourself.:T They helped us a lot when we were starting out down the BR road.
You have had some very good advice already from some great posters I cant add a great deal to it other than a big hug to reassure you and show support.
We opend a Coop account prior to going BR but told them this was our intention,no problems at all.
Hold yourself proudly you are dealing with your problems in the only way that will allow you and your family a fresh start. At the end of the day they are the most important assets you can have.
Take care. Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0 -

Just a quick update - my secured loan payment 'bounced' on Friday and guess who phoned me today, Sunday?!!! I didn't answer the phone but they're a bit quick of the mark arent they?
Forms for temporary bank account have arrived, just need to sign and send back so new a/c number should be here within a few days. All d/debits cancelled on current account.
Followed in Scarletts footsteps and have started a folder of doom - keeping all nasty letters, statements etc in here - hopefully this will make the forms easier to complete.
Still feeling a bit overwhelmed about everything, losing the house, finding somewhere new, what have I done etc.,,etc.,, I am hoping this feeling will pass and not get worse. Then was reading Devonsdreamer's posts and what she has been through which put things into perspective really.
Was wondering a couple of things - We are both going BR - will we have one interview or one each? Also, what is the difference between the OR and a Trustee?
Thanks for all the support and help :T0 -
Hi Mamma
If you are both going br then they may do one interview and cover both cases. Ours took the form of Mrs TJ starting and then me taking over about half an hour in. Our call lasted about 2 hours but the case was not straightforward.
The OR is the initial investigator whereas the trustee generally deals with any realised assets and the distribution of them.
If you go to the trustee then the investigation is generally over.

Hello to all
I haven't really posted because there's not been much activity apart from:
mad ebaying, looking for rented accommodation and ignoring the phone
However I've had a 'scary' letter from my secured loan company today - they have been ringing and ringing for the last 2 weeks, we've ignored their calls - nothing to say to them really! Anyway, this letter says that because they have been unable to contact us, they have instructed a debt collection agency to visit us at our home to discuss repayment!!
We have missed ONE payment. The letter also says 'there are a number of ways in which we can help'. I did call them 2 months ago for help and they gave me a 'payment holiday' and basically said that was 'last chance saloon' and any other problems and they would 'come down hard' on me.
My question is - should I ring or write to them and tell them we are going to do vol. repossession at end of month? Should I tell them we are going BR? What should I do? I don't really want people knocking on my door
Thanks in advance to all you helpful people :T

Hi MammaCas,
The person that they MAY send round has no right of entry. They have as much rights as the postman. If they should call don't answer the door to them or if you happen to just say you won't speak to them and to make any contact in writing and close the door. Don't get into a debat with them.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Hi MammaCas,
You really don't want this person knocking at the door, and don't let them in, or you'll be subject to the most high pressure tactics to get you to agree to a repayment plan.
Ring and then write to the company and explain that you're in the process of restructuring your fnances and you'll be in touch with them when you have a workable proposition to present them with.
There's no need for concern, you just don't want them adding to the pressure you're no doubt already under.
Regards

Richard would it be worth MC saying she is talking to the CAB or whoever to restructure her finances? Or doesn't it matter.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
