Smart Meter September 2020.
Can't really account for 2019 winter. I have tested turning the off peak button in the day and nothing so that's good. I just noticed them warming up at 11:30pm the first and only night I tried them since smart meter.
BTW thanks for your help all so far0 -

Originally 10.00pm - 8.00am but now 5.10am - 3.10pm.

What tends to happen as a result is that the storage heater charges while heating.
Normally they charge then heat.
I set the input quite low and when I turn up the wall thermostat and the fan comes on, the
heater charges periodically (clonk sound). Turning up the input dial does the same.
I guess it’s balancing output and input.0 -

frugal - I'm on economy 7 so midnight to 06:00 night rate
Gerry1 - They are storage heaters, if turned off they will release over 2-3 days. Tested that last year
Pst a pic of the meter itself. It will either be an old clockwork E7 timer built into the meter, or a newer teleswitched meter. A pic should make it obvious.
They'll only release over more than one day if you've got the output set down to minimum, to slow the release rate right down.
A 30 year old NSH is not necessarily due for replacement. There is nothing to them, just a tin box full of bricks, and an element. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Tariff name iSupply Fixed v4 (E7) taken on by EDF.0 -
So my 2 storage heaters on the "off peak" button fired up at 23:40 which is not off peak. 5kw per hour 71p. Sick to my stomach to see that. Basically isupplyenergy were very negligent even when I noticed i might be using a lot and questioned bills they said i was all clear "no debt" so EDF will have to review what BS! they just took on otherwise the energy ombudsman will have to be involved0

Hi,so your "off peak" came on 20 minutes early, you expect it on at midnight, just means it'll go off at about 6:40, you will still get your E7 hours. You say "5kw per hour 71p. Sick to my stomach".Depending on input setting, if starting from cold, heater will need to build up heat before cut out operates.Your heater doesn't go full blast all night.

Agree with Frugal - 20 mins is neither here nor there. The off peak times are not cast in stone. In addition to the storage rads you are getting hot water.
I think your photo is showing the on peak - 358 kWh since 13 Aug is approx 6 units /day - that's below average
Where ae you getting the 71p from ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
In the Seeboard area the off-peak times are 2230 - 0030 and 0230 - 0730 GMT +/- 15 minutes so your timeswitch is well within specification. Provided that your NSHs are on the E7 circuits served by the contactor it wouldn't matter anyway because they'll only operate on off-peak rates even in the unlikely event that the times have all drifted.0
