Grrrr too cold here to even work in the greenhouse which has not hit 5 degrees today. Long sleeved top, thick cardigan, sherpa fleece and that is in the house. Mothers Day was indeed good with more presents a few days after birthday and one son building my wheelbarrow and compost sieve. I have had serious connectivity issues today with MSE but not with any other sites so don't think it is my laptop. I am delighted but envious of anyone with sunshine. Roll on holiday on 23rd May4

Dusty, shirt sleeves? Is that a wind up?
I was in 2 layers just to clean the windows!
But it was almost dry and no wind.
Quiet usually means people are enjoying themselves
Looking forward to the stories.....and trying not to look up Thompsons. I have enough and I know I'll weaken.
Just cleaning, chilling and planningthe seeds are germinating but teeny tiny so it's a quiet spell re gardening...
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

But it was almost dry and no wind.No wind-up, but I was digging and pushing barrow loads of soil over long distances (downhill!) so I was generating heat.Like you, one short shower, but I could see black clouds in other places, so we were lucky. Tomorrow looks OK too, if dull.

Back to work today, the spraying of lichen stuff didn’t get done as the trigger broke. Sunday was rain and cold. I managed a quick half hour walk. My DDs came Sat tea and cooked for me. Had a lovely evening.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4

No it's not just you pas, I keep getting some nonsense about vanilla and gateways and timeouts...? I thought it was just me after the carryon I had with the bb company
Where you going on holiday..?
I didn't get to the beach yesterday, the weather wasn't for improving so I made a start on all them boxes in the loft. I got a good whack of it cleared/sorted/binned/put in it's proper home so that's another job done. Next really has to be my windows. Oh and seeds.
Your aerial pic makes more sense Dusty, talk about a Road to Nowhere. Who thought that was a good idea?! And stop mentioning telegraph poles cos you're making them breed - we've 3 of them now! And the only thing they're connected to is each other, none of us have signed up to them. Swines that they are.
Another not very nice day here. The air is as damp as it could possibly be before it's actually raining or drizzling or misty. Dreich. Not warm either. But I have got a daff - a whole one! - and possibly a new bird so I spose it evens out.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
YBE yes I had the same vanilla nonsense
Holiday, the clue is in my name
Wet, grey and cold here (again)
I really want to get outside but everywhere is sodden3 -
Back after a visit to DS & DD yesterday, all went well, the Purple Haze apple is still there so it's not yet dead.Dull & drizzly, and another one here with poor MSE response timesDustyevsky said:My first toms are through. Planted 4 days ago! What is up is the coleus
, sown Weekend before last.
But what is even better and both annoying and pleasing at same time is a red leaved special coleus I overwintered for cuttings, but then flowered, some may remember I posted photo of the flowers? But it's only gone & self seeded in its pot, and now I have s few seedlings showing, great but if they do well it seems I wasted my time & electricity moly codling [sp?] fresh seeds in a propagator.
Probably finish up with a coleus forest now.greenbee said:You're a star Farway! I have a LOT of empty space, so the 72 plugs for £9.99 might be just what I need. Even if only 50% of them survive it'd help. (I also added some veg seeds to the order... but I needed them)
Update & mystery with DGD.Today she is getting an award from the Mayor of LondonI've no idea what for, where about or if it's the Lord Mayor or Khan 'imself.Must be posh, organisers paid for her flight down from Aberdeen, night etc in HotelShe did mention it a bit back when she was down at Christmas, but never expanded on it because she was not sure if she wanted to go. It was just for her & head of year tutor, no friends / family. Her Mum [DD] and I convinced her to go along, never know who you can brown nose meet thereSo folks, it's all mystery but well done her, whatever it is.Update when I find outEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Morning all. Dry, sunny and a bit chilly here. Yesterday was freeeezing. We went to a garden centre and a beach but only lasted a few minutes at each because it was just so cold with a strong easterly wind.
The daffs are out in the garden and it's starting to look very Spring like. There's also a white hyacinth hidden in amongst the daffs. I think I can see a hint of pink on the cherry tree down the road, but I'm not sure if it's too early and my eyes are playing tricks on me.
Is it too late to start growing potatoes?? I saw some seed potatoes in Home Bs, but they felt a bit squishy.'A watched potato will never chit'...3 -
Oh thank goodness for that! I thought it was just me with the Vanilla nonsense because I've got an old kindle. It makes a right mess of my shortcut icons. Not to mention the exasperation.
I'm thinking about you all planting tomato seeds. Are these for greenhouse?
I usually start mine later outdoors but they are always ready for planting later than they could be.
I don't know about potatoes. I used to just bung them in when I had some on the veg rack sprouting but squishy doesn't sound good. They've lost their get up and go.
Best results when I used to plant them in the compost heap to save space.
Congrats on your gdd Farway, she seems to get a lot of wonderful chances and be noticed which bodes well
Bluey, can you come and start on mine when you've finished. You seem to have the knack. When I attempt to deal with stuff I just end up with another pile to sort.
No wind, mild, grey and just damp out there. Too wet underfoot to get out and dig turf.
The little birds are out but not going far. The blackbirds were singing yesterday while I was doing the windowsI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
