Thanks Farway.
I keep forgetting it's March already with this dire weather.
I might as well go for it this week. It's supposed to be warmer here and if they don't like it I can always plant again
The living room already has potentially re flowering orchids in. I've really got my moneys worth with those!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I'm wondering the same 2p - the seeds I started a couple of weeks ago, none of them are showing signs of having germinated as yet... I'm back and forth with work again this week, then hopefully the builder will be starting, so I'm going to give them till 1 April then start a new lot if there's still no signs of life.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4

I'm getting timing out errors, right now, as I read.My tom seeds, and some others, are in a heated propagator, 2p. Once they're properly up, they'll go in the conservatory to harden-up a bit. Then, assuming no bad frosts, it'll be into the polytunnel with them. I don't normally grow toms outdoors.Congrats to DGD, Farway, whatever it is. My DD's contribution to gardening here is mainly bringing home perfectly good pots of plants that her (redacted name) store is throwing out. A dozen Tete a Tête and 3 or 4 Iris reticulata was the last haul.
We've run out of north facing windowsill room for orchids!

Hmm, "some users are currently experiencing issues"... it's more like all users are currently experiencing issues - it's driving me mad. Come on, own up, who broke MSE?!
Congratulations to your DGD, Farway, sounds exciting.
I'll keep an eye out for non-squishy seed potatoes, twopenny. Maybe I should have bought the ones in Home Bs to try - they were only 99p.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
I'm always up for a cheap challenge Poppy. Surprising how many work out but that would be a real long shot!
Pardon if I don't post for a while. It's got to the point where all my short cuts and searches are labelled as Vanilla timed out.
So it's a struggle or impossible to even read any of money saving expert.
Hopefully back with you soon.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

There's a banner at the top now about the timeout carryon, hopefully they're having a whip round for 50ps for the meter and it'll be fixed soon...
Parp prp prp prp parp parp parp paarrpp! for DGD Farway. Whether it's Lord Mayor or Khan mayor, it's bluddy brilliant. I hope the brown nosing wining and dining and schmoozing prove fruitful:clapping:
pp I wouldn't be spending money on seed potatoes, just keep some firm ones from whatever you've bag got, leave them while they sprout then plant them
I'll finish my loft 2p then I'll come down and do yours. I'll get mine finished today cos I'm brutal when I've got one on me. The bin pile is bigger than I'd like but I'll run it to the tip today and see what they say. Someone might fancy it and it'll be rescued. You never know your luck.
Need to get my windows done today, considering what I wrote on the window cleaners thread yesterday. Toms will have to wait, but I am oop north so I've time yet. I'll know I'm late when pp says she has hers goingAnother GW mag came yesterday so now I've even more seeds dagnammit! Not a bad pic of a cherry blossom tree on the front
Quite mild out there this morning, 5' says my phone. There's a good spread of warmth coming up the country over the next few days, so that'll be nice.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
I couldn't get on here at all last night after the Garden Club Quiz where I was question-person, mainly on account of my ability to speak at high volume for a few hours without losing my voice. It was a good turn-out, quizzes being popular here, and it was nice to see a village team, including a member aged 93/94, winning! As for the issues with the site; I dare say Martin isn't flavour of the month with the bankers, with over 1m car finance complaints initiated in a month, but bankers wouldn't surreptitiously employ hackers, would they? It's been pouring down for hours here, but rain in the night is tolerable if it helps saplings in the hedge and other plants establish. The days ahead look like they're becoming warmer, and there's no prospect of frost for us in the next week, so rapid growth of those tomato seedlings should be possible. In the polytunnel yesterday I saw my unheated Pokeweed seeds were beginning to germinate, and as I sowed around 100 seeds that could be 'interesting!' Well done Farways gd 👏🏻👏🏻
🤞🏻for everyone’s seeds and plantings.I don’t know who stole the weather but it’s horrid and rainy here. I’m away to walk to town shortly as taking dgs to dentists. I have a surgery consult tomorrow, so nothing will be likely then.
My alyssum seeds are showing no signs 😞 but the aquilegia seeds Dusty sent last year that I put in a pot are sprouting ,woo hoo.😁🌱Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
Tipping down here, very dreary and supposed to remain gloomy most of the day.One bright note, my first 2024 garden crop yesterday
, OK it was only some chives but considering a similar amount is 60p in Asda, and mine were certainly fresher, a bargain. Actually, it's sums like that that would soon demonstrate growing your own can save money.
Not sure if growing 100 Pokeweeds saves money, maybe for mass poisoners? [Joke, not lifestyle advice]
Glad the Quiz turned out OK Dusty, my highlight was cancelling the TV licence. Seemed sensible thing to do as I was watching less & less of live stuff. My tom seeds have geminated, I'll remove them from the airing cupboard into the light later todayMaybe an Omen but I've just found a bean seed hidden under my keyboard, Allo Allo, looks like a French bean to me, I think I'll sow it toot sweet and see what happensNo update on whatever award DGD was, she hasn't mentioned anything yet, not even to her mum.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Similar weather, wet, raining, blowing but a little nugget of cheer was seeing the plum blossom is out all over the tree. No insects about so I may be out with that paint brush yet.
Also my blackbird is finally back! Nibbling in the fat block desperately so I'm guessing nesting has begun
Photos later, through the window though. No way am I going out there yet.
Funny how those beans get around Farway. I've found the same. Sweetpeas too.
Good luck with those appointments Wort. Sounds like a doughnuts sort of day.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
