Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Sorry no flowers or sunset today. Just solid rain and wind.I didn't need to wade through mud to get the photos of the 'stream'. Every road, lane and carpark is a pond or river.
Clothes drying out (again) now.
But it was worth going to the cinema. Wicked Little Letters was hillarious if you are broad minded. Crying with laughter at the end and some hillarious comments from the audience.Tip, wait and watch the credits.Brilliant cast , acting and script.Just watching the weather forcast on Countryfile. Frankly so many swirly bits coming over this week it's hard to follow. Temperature up/temperature down/dryish/ wet and windy so no idea. But they say dry tomorrow, can only hope. Keep the pictures of places without rain comingI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

My Forsythia is nothing like as full as Farways ,will join Pas and see when mine is in full flower. Something has been nibbling my some of my tetes flower heads and the day lily leaves!!Cheese is the best love a good extra mature cheddar, always a staple in my fridge, Dusty don’t get me looking, I was introduced to the drunken monk by dgson he usually goes to the markets with his mum and brings a good selection back , there was one with sage in this year but the jury was out for me as I’m not a sage fan. I like applewood and the other smoked too. Dgson loves his food will try anything.
There was a big old moon here when we went out , Sis told me it’s the snow moon and it’s the furthest away it gets or something. I’ve never known so many names of the moon as we get now.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Sorry yes pp, beechwood is applewood (stoopid brain). Mea culpa
Thank god I've finally learned to leave my coffee sat cooling while I read these posts, or I'd have lost a gobful seeing your picture Farway! Good was that.
The forsythia is lovely, I'm another one hoping mine gets as good as that. Might be a couple of years off I think.
Woohoo for Miss Figgy pas(I didn't realise it's actual name is Miss Figgy, I thought you were being funny ha haa!)
Every full moon has a name wort, the Royal Observatory has the full calendar with dates and stuff on it. https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/full-moon-calendar It's a good site, save it and refresh it every now and again cos the pics are beautiful.
No weather forecast from Cissie this week, I was getting medical advice told off. Again. You sound like you're full of cold, are you full of cold? I am Cissie. You're drinking too much tea, tea is dehydrating. You should drink a cup of water for every cup of tea. I didn't know that, is that right? Are your hands dry? Umm yes. Well there you are then. (Cissie was years as a nurse so I spose it is medical advice really.)
OT It says no rain today, and as soon as the rain stops they'll be right. Breezy and cold now but we might reach the dizzying heights of 5' later. Possibly. CFile weather last night said there was a warm front (or summat) moving over us all on Thursday, so that'll be niceI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Another beautiful pink sky this morning and this time the moon was slap bang in the middle of it. Tried to take a pic with my phone but no space. DH offered me his phone, but I had to turn it on. Meanwhile, pussycat realised the window was wide open and appeared from underneath the covers to try and make an escape bid. Cue DH stressing about the pussycat and stressing me out in the process and no pic... Lovely start to the morning...
And breathe...
It's another frosty one and 2 degrees according to the BBC - more like minus 2 actually. Nice and sunny though with just a few clouds.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
'Miss Figgy' is a great name for a dwarf fig. I wish I was into fruit propagation, because I'd love to produce a Crab Apple called Malus 'Aforethought.'
I have to think about it first, mind!
Well, it sure blew a hoolie here from the north last night, so 2p will have felt that. It's still going strong, which means we won't be out doing the hedge until it warms up a bit. At least there's sunshine aplenty and a good chance of drying-out, with not much rain until Thursday, when your warm front arrives, Bluey.Looking at the longer term, the drunkards are suggesting just about every kind of weather possible, except perhaps a lengthy cold snap or a heatwave. That's positive, I suppose, but it only takes one really hard frost to kybosh premature soft growth. Dry here, some blue sky with a very stiff wind. If it improves, I may get out & tie up tie new apple! If I get out there I'll also plant the new Morries raspberry, it's in a pot so no rushGreat with Miss Figgy pas, and Dusty, now I'm tempted with Ice Crystal
. Having read the small print it needs lots of space with small sweet fruits, sounds like one for you Dusty, no room here to let one romp but that seed has been planted in my brain.
Paspatur said:Farway my forsythia looks nothing like that!
It does have lots and lots of healthy buds
Be interesting to see how much later mine flowersAnticipating my Jetfire daffs buds opening, winks at Dusty, having hunted high & low for them, I hope they will be worth the trouble
At last, I managed a hyacinth pic, from Spring 2023 bulbs, left out overwinter, so this is their second flowering year. There are pink ones in the same pot, but not yet open. Daffs in background are tete a tete.

Yes, wind blowing at gale force slamming the rain against the windows yesterday.
Dry today, it's trying to make it's mind up whether to hammer down or brighten up but it's crept up to 7c.
I'd like to cheer but the north wind slapped me in the face and sent me back inside when I looked at the pruning.
Looking forward to all the posts about gardening you've done oop north in the sunshineI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I didn't realise it was Miss Figgy either , great name, but pipped to the post by Malus Aforethought
The olive i uprooted keeps faling over despite me wedging bricks in it, but it's too cold os far to upright it and too windy. It'll have to wait until OH can manandle it somewhere more sheltered. Or I'm dressed or something...
Cheese? I love cheese, all cheese, especially strong vintage crunchy bits in it cheddar, or a nice blue cheese, or a ricotta in something, or a bel paese, or brie, or goats, or....you get the picture. I once did a pub quiz where one of the rounds was soley about cheese...we smashed it, all questions right...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6 -
I've nothing sensible to add, but took this photo in the porch to prove there are at least some daffs here that haven't been snaffled by wild beasties! While not a big fan of forsythia, I'd say ones that have been correctly pruned, like Farway's, look a darn sight better than those left to their own devices.
Haven't had one since the 1980s. Then, knowing no better, ours always looked like a yellow bog brush!
