Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I saw 'the lake' before reading BlackCats comment and still see it. Perhaps living on the shore of a reservoir has brainwashed me. Maybe I should focus on quarry to the other side of me and then I'll see the wall.
The rain washed the remaining 10 cm of snow away overnight so just a grotty looking snowman remaining. I could venture out if there was somewhere to go.
Today I shall tidy the greenhouse and make ready for seed trays when they overflow from the utility.Love living in a village in the country side3 -
Black_Cat2 said:Crocuses are something I am tempted to plant in my own bit of heaven. I was told once that birds eat them? Not sure if that's true or whether the guy was pulling my leg lolNot sure about birds, however squirrels love them which means the only time you'll see them is in the packet prior to plantingI've given up trying because of that but I suppose if I put wire mesh etc it would work but TBH I CBA and settled on looking at them in squirrel less gardensI never saw any lake either, but like Dave just kept shtum. Bit like the fad a decade or more back with "magic pictures" consisting of blobs, where some claimed to see unicorns or whatever, I just saw blobs no matter how I squinted and others pointed out the shapesA wet night but hint of sun this morning. The only gardening related today is me giving away some fir cones, locally there is a sort of Freecycle where folk give or request items, some one wanted fir cones and by coincidence I have some from a large tree near the bottom of my garden but not on my landI had collected them in 2019 because grandson number two had a project that fizzled out so were never required and left "just in case", today is the day I can offload donate themBe ideal for craft types I supposeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

Lol prefer seeing the lake to unicorns etc, only see that stuff with drugs I guess 😹!
Good news D, will listen out for my blackbirds singing, that's the least they could do after all the sultanas they've scoffed!
Imw, do you get to see many types of birds being that close to a reservoir? Sounds idyllic 😊
Impressive cones F (so to speak) I hope they find a good home.Just my opinion, no offence 🐈5 -
Lovely shape cones, someone could make some lovely decorations or bird feeders with those.
Interesting what one sees; I could never see the shape in those repetitive pictures either no matter how often they were pointed out to me. I do find tessellations like these much more fun though.

The rivers are full again here and its raining now so I expect the Meadows to be flooded tomorrow, I'll have to grow gills and flippers at this rate.
Am finally getting my appointment with the hygienist that was supposed to be late last March this coming Monday so I'll be the one with the gleaming gnashers hopefully. Wonder how they'll look with gills?4 -
Morning all 🖐
So who's been doing the rain dance ?😏🤨
It's clear to see that we're going to have another mild, wet, winter yet again - i do wish this relentless rain would cease, some proper winter weather would be much appreciated 😯😉☔☔☔☔☔🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧
Car Update:
My car is now in for repair, and i have a courtesy car - in the meantime, the 3rd party's insurers (One Call) are using bullying tactics, in the extreme, by contacting me via mobile phone and threatening by telling me they're disputing the cost of my courtesy car and to switch to theirs (One Call) instead.
This guy also contacts my courtesy car supplier aswell as my insurers, each time using hard-sell bullying tone.
I've been ignoring his calls but jeeze, he's relentless .......think along the lines of those double glazing salesmen of the '90s😡😡😡

Good morning, after heavy snow, followed by rain, it is a bit drier and some crocus plants have appeared so the squirrels have eaten only some, not all. Other stuff starting to bud and the birdsong this morning has been stunning, like spring.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back4

Just wet here, rain all night, luckily yesterday I had my gutters cleared, at least something I timed correctlyGF, Tessellation, I had to look it up because I never heard of it, or maybe I was looking out of the window on that school day?Certainly learning at home nowCatsacor said:Car Update:

I live at the dam end with steep sides so there are very few birds. The edges going round from the dam are lined with stone so not appealing to creatures which might live at the waters edge. Gulls circle above but few settle. There other end has quite a following of birds watchers
Farway - I remember you collecting the hips. After that I obtained some from the village green and they are in the fridge in a plastic box on kitchen roll. When you say yours are sprouting, are they in compost in the fridge?
Bright and sunny this morning. Today I go to the pop-up market at the pub. Always a surprise to see who turns up (fish / meat / candles)
I shall do the RSPB Garden Bird Watch but depending on which 'hour' I choose the results will be so different. Will decide later.Love living in a village in the country side2 -
Tessellation wasn't the day you looked out the window, Farway; it was that stuff when you stuck bits of card together to make Christmas decorations to hang from the classroom ceiling. Not proper maths at all!I had similar bother with a courtesy car C. I was in Bath at the time and the guy arrived with a brand new VW estate for me. I was already driving a much more frugal Peugeot 308 diesel, provided locally, so I needed the VW like a hole in the head. When I told the guy to take it away, he protested, "But I've just come here all the way from Plymouth!"He went all the way back there in it too!Bought some plants on-line yesterday, just to add a bit of new interest in the coming season. Like you folks I'm confident most of my new seeds will come up, but just in case.....Surprised you have any sort of market, Wellies. In our village we haven't a pub at present and the Village Hall has been shut for a year or so.
I've got this virus thing sorted now though: get the data just before shopping and then choose location accordingly. Last week I went to the seaside where, apparently, the risk was only 1/3 what it was here.
