Another grey morning, I'm going for 2P alternative, minus mice pies 'cos I don't have any yet

Woolsery, "Not enough footfall today, methinks." from report by DD who ventured up the Smoke yesterday it seems most of Southern England was there instead, she reports just being swept along by crowds and more crammed than she has ever seen it, maybe she failed in getting my Harrods Hamper and is just trying to soften the blow for me? ;)

Mice pies? Are things that desperate? :o We had a pie last night, bought from the local farmer's shop, but it will be the last. Over £6 for something full of gelatinous mush and a couple of bits of ham. Never saw any chicken. :(  Contrast and compare with the ones from our village market, but that's only once a month.
Plenty of people spending yesterday at Cribbs Causeway (Bristol) say my spies. No parking spaces and cars abandoned on roundabouts etc. There's no obvious reason I can think of. Maybe they all saw YBE's super rainbow and took it as a sign? :/
Still cutting grass today. Cold, but not when pushing a mower! B)

Yet another grey day without any rainbows or mice [sic] pies ;)
Still not checked the shed for suitable amaryllis pot, just too soggy and cold

Yes, another grey one, but OK for mowing and thrashing around with the brushcutter for a few hours. :)
As there's nothing particularly exciting going on here, I'm putting up another photo from the Saturday market to see if it stirs any memories. Better opened in a new window and expanded, but not too much 'cos I only used  my point and shooter :

Grey start but sunshine promised later, along with our first real kill off the dahlia & nasturtiums frost due tonight, and supposedly getting colder day by day

2P, amazing having toms outside in December, I have the purple clematis still in flower, at least until the frost gets them I guess

Woolsery, nice jumble pic, I recognise the "trawler" on the right, my FIL made similar model, presumably using same plans, it's with DD now.
And those roadworks warning lights on the left, way back in the mists of time when there were night watchmen in a hut with a coke brazier us kids used to chat with him and fill up the lamps with paraffin & light them, all daring & exciting stuff before mobiles phones & Xboxes

    No gardening again

If I remember correctly, there was a catalogue called Hobbies that came out just before Christmas and the plans could be ordered from that, along with all the twiddly bits like small scale chandlery etc....
There's always a good range of old garden tools at the back of that stall. No bargains, though! :(
One thing I recognised was a display for Lady Neilson ice cream in the form of a wheelbarrow.  As a child, I remember thinking of this aristocratic lady wafting about the ice cream factory somewhere in Canada, supervising quality control.
It wasn't quite like that, but the ice cream was pretty good!  http://www.lostrivers.ca/points/Cadbury.htm
    6d? A quarter of a week's pocket money! :o

It was another fine and cold day here. I'm almost up-to-date with the mowing now. This dry interlude has been a blessing after the grass got away from me in all that rain. :) Planning a walk for Friday, but I've just seen the forecast and long Johns might not be enough! :#

  • Them's some hardy toms you've got 2p, still ripening inDecember! :o

Well if your weather is as cold as mine woolsery you'll have wear a lot more than long johns! :P

C-o-l-d here this morning. My garden is NW facing so with the wind coming from that direction I'm considering putting a wash on!
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

If you've got whites, remember that if they freeze, it's a lot easier to get stains out. Same probably true of coloureds.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I've hand washed a few white bits and got em on the line. They'll be sparkling by this aft :)

Cold & sunny, missed an overnight frost last night, but that can't go on forever, by Sunday the forecast is not above freezing even in daytime

One good thing with the clear night sky, Mars is very visible now it's at it's nearest until 2035 [year not time], old folk like me, get in quick ;)
