A dull & grey morning here, GF, the view from your window does sound very similar to mine at the moment, not very cheery at all, hope you're soon feeling a bit betterNice pic Woolsery, can we assume a fuchsia hedge is about to grow somewhere near you
? I always admired the Devon lanes with fuchsia hedge rows, heart in my mouth and clenched bum time driving down them but a joy to see
No gardening today, just too damp & grey. However, here is the largest T & M amaryllis bulb I bought on offer, Picotee, fingers crossed it will be a cracker once it gets going, I may try & find a heavy pot for it in the shed, ideally a clay one for weight but that could be a wish too farPicotee amaryllis bulb from T & M bought on Black Friday offer [£2]Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3 -
I, too, hope GF is feeling better soon and out walking again in the city of 'dreaming spires and screaming tyres.'There's rather more than a touch of frost here today, but more clear skies and sunshine should see temperatures up to an acceptable level in another half hour or so. Still makes for a blooming short day, though! The fuchsia is in a well-elevated village about 7 miles away, Farway, so ought to be hardy, but we have plenty already.
As a child, I remember holidays in the Fuchsia Valley at Lee near Ilfracombe and I remember popping them. I was probably 5 or 6 at the time, and I'd never seen fuchsias before. I do remember peonies from around that time at home, and also verbena, which I called 'Ribenas.'
Edit: That's a biggun!2 -
As himself says - if you’re gonna have one, you might as well have a bigg’un 😁I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2

Slight improvement in visibility today. Could see a 500 hundred yards instead of 200
Bitterly cold and very dark and damp.
Gardenwise I heard that there is a cross between a kaffir lilly and amaryllis...... think it was kafaryllis.
I tried to look it up but can't find it. Perhaps it's still being designed.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Another dull morning, and blooming cold, so very doubtful that operation "Death to all vine weevils" will start today

Another day, started off with visibility and not freezing which is a plus.
By 12 back to the usual.
Everything drying in this wind but the choice of mitigating the sad looking garden and tea and mince pies in the warm with friends there was an obvious choice.
I did glance at what could be done though.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Missing in action on Friday....I cut grass!
It was just dry enough in some places to play catch-up, but the mower didn't like it.
Managed to clear the bottom yard, so the tonnes of concrete-making materials I'm ordering will be in and worrying the neighbours before Christmas.
Today was our first Christmas foray to the Pannier Market at a nearby town, made difficult by two road closures, one of them literally 100m from the town boundary. However, an 11-year-old's memories of 'muck biking' came to the rescue, and we found the unmarked lane, still reassuringly full of muck 62 years on, and made it at last.
It was bitterly cold and DB barely made it round, but we ordered the largest chicken we could, bought a ginormous ham and eyed-up various potential presents. There was quite a good atmosphere considering it's only 3rd December, no doubt helped by the town band playing carols throughout."Oi, young man, stand still, I'm taking this without flash!" (Bit of scandal being relayed in the background...)
Lovely old building. Not enough footfall today, methinks.3 -

My Schizostylis are in flower in NE Scotland in minus temps2 -
Another grey morning, I'm going for 2P alternative, minus mice pies 'cos I don't have any yetWoolsery, "Not enough footfall today, methinks." from report by DD who ventured up the Smoke yesterday it seems most of Southern England was there instead, she reports just being swept along by crowds and more crammed than she has ever seen it, maybe she failed in getting my Harrods Hamper and is just trying to soften the blow for me?

It wasn’t a bad morning here first thing, then it went black as the ace of spades and absolutely persisted it down. Which resulted in this -It was a full rainbow, much brighter and better defined than my phone represents. A real God Showing Off jobber.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4
