There's a big difference between the threat to thousands of commercial birds and half a dozen in the back garden, but the regs are probably doing wonders for the Chinese netting industry. They also fit the agenda for making things as hard as possible for farmers, which seems general throughout the western world, not that people will see the protests in the usual media. It's been pretty intense in the Netherlands, while in NZ there's to be a methane tax on dangerous animals that fart and burp, like cows. I think a certain PM, who looks quite like a horse herself, might think twice before introducing legislation like that. :p
Anyway, we'll be up and running with our new protected run today and by my calculations each of our hens will have in excess of the 4m2 minimum to qualify as free-range.  o:)
It looks as if there will be a few more days of reasonable weather, before something nasty comes across the Atlantic next week.

This is a small tree in the chemist car park, can anyone identify it? The birds love the berries, not crab apple or pyracantha AFAIK

Before this disappears....I used Google reverse image search and came up with Malus toringo. Here's a piccie from Barcham Trees at a pocket money price: ;)

  • You used Google?! 😧  Well if I’d known we were allowed to cheat I’d have had a go 😝

I like a bit of adventure in the garden. Plant it and see what comes up.

Tee shirt weather today, got home and mowed the lawns. I was going to dead head and move surplus to badger run but got chatting to neighbours so only time survey what I might do then cut some kale for dinner.
The bonus is no caterpillars in it at this time of year.

Was my birthday yesterday and was given a lovely bunch of red hydrangea heads, an outdoor cyclamen and a painting of an autumn leaf. My friends know me well  :D

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Well played Woolsery, I reckon that's it, right height and shape, surprised they say it's quite rare seeing as "my one" is in a car park, but then that area is not "By Royal Appointment"either

Regarding your other mention of cow farts etc, it does make me wonder at times if they [politicians] realise just what they are doing, like shutting down power stations while not having a plan B. I have seen a hypothesis that the main problem is too few politicians with a scientific or engineering background but overwhelmingly lawyers and art subjects

Back to gardens, Christmas is officially declared at Farway Towers, my Christmas cactus has buds forming ready for the Great Day, sort of horticultural advent calendar
