I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

    Woolsery, fatsia japonica?

Rather busy here with autumn stuff, fruit, pruning, juice pasteurising and cider. Need to get the allotment sorted though.

Just been allowed to pick any quince I want from a tree that has been harvested by its owner. Lovely just roasted.

They're pretty Blue. Stones a good idea. I've got plants just yellowing in the soil its so wet now.
Sorry about the gutter but it's good to know I'm not the only one catching drips in buckets.
I'm using it to try and flush out the driveway gutter.

The toms that were doing ok have burst like bombs with the amount of rain.

Picked up some enormous ripe bramleys from the side of the road. New owners are sharing. Hope they make this regular.
Have stewed one that will make 4 deserts and another will be sweet mincemeat shortly.  May make some chutney if I have time.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes, I knew you or Farway would get it! o:)
I used to grow them from seed, but about ten years ago I bought a very 'bushy' one from Homebase, which turned out to be 13 small Fatsias all crammed into a litre pot! Sold most of them and still have a couple kicking around.

Yep, RAS beat me to it. There's one near me that I photographed a year or so back at the start of lockdowns and when I could walk around the block without needing an ambulance and oxygen on standby. I did look into getting one but what with one thing & the other it became too difficult and fell into the Roundtoit bin, still tempting though but goodness knows where I'd put it

Talking of roses, an update on the cuttings I took of next door's lovely rose prior to her moving, anticipating the blitz "landscaping" that has occurred. Some have matured into dead sticks, but there is hope for a few of the remainder, at least they are still green and not brown. The ones I attempted to root in water died off as did the cosseted ones in the conservatory

I was surprised to see two more outdoor Sungolds ripe and unpopped as I went out this morning, with the mild weather this week could be scoffing them soon

While out, I detoured to Morries, looking for Blackberry on tip from Woolsery, the plant cage was locked and looks like no intention of opening today, I can see where they may be but no chance today. Oh bother :s , or similar sound words

This is a small tree in the chemist car park, can anyone identify it? The birds love the berries, not crab apple or pyracantha AFAIK

Think I know. Reducing it to M t so others can have a go. Not sure if there's a variety name, but no time now, as my nuts and bolts have just arrived....and no, that's not code! :D:D

Ha, out here in Ruralshire you'd think we'd be seeing those foxy guys all the time, but no. They're about, naturally, but lucky for us, they prefer a natural lifestyle too. o:)
No red Dawn here, unless I count the woman down the road in her track suit, but at last we have the prospect of a few almost rainless days. :) We're building a special run for the chickens (rather late :* ) to keep them and wild birds apart in accordance with the new regulations, hence the reference to nuts and bolts yesterday. As the food and water are inside anyway and the only defence from overhead poo is fruit cage netting, I'm not convinced this will make much difference, but at least we're making an effort. o:)
Haven't seen RAS on this thread yet, so I'll leave your mystery plant and it's fruit for another day, Farway. I may have cheated a bit, so only fair! :D>:)

Of course, I'd forgotten about the bird flu, just listening the other morning on Farming toady Today of problems encountered by "back garden" keepers in trying to comply, seems some have run up against planning regs not allowing building, others have them free ranging amongst trees in woods and can't really net a woodland

Dull but at least no rain for today, even so nothing expected garden wise but was looking at the fruit trees & thinking "winter pruning", except the leaves are still on the trees. I wonder if DS will take my advice & prune his apple tree at the right time and manner this year, thus giving him fruit instead of a jungle? Could be my Christmas visit job
