Awful weather - typical Brits talk

My phone’s not letting me quote for some reason, but I couldn’t agree more with your middle paragraph Farway. Too many people spending far too much money on worthless degrees that then cannot properly contribute to society. We need people who actually know what they’re talking about if they’re going to take up such positions.Who was it said - you get the politicians you deserve (or similar)?Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.2

Well, yes, didn't we all!goldfinches said:@Woolsery - That's too easy, I even have this photo of the plant as my phone screen background.
Mind you, that was before I fell in love with a succession of ladies from Japanese rock bands.... Now, in acknowledgement of my advanced years, I have a mixed border at it's June peak.....or is it a peek at June? I forget...

OK, in the absence of anything substantial to report in the areas of weather or gardening activity, here's another picture of something that looks good in our garden at present. You'll all know what it is.

That is also on my reincarnation with a silver trowel list.Woolsery said:OK, in the absence of anything substantial to report in the areas of weather or gardening activity, here's another picture of something that looks good in our garden at present. You'll all know what it is.

I'm still lurking but rarely have any time or anything useful to add as I'm still full time carer to mum, amazing how she keeps going.
Anyway, I enjoy reading when I can
Here is my (not) Christmas cacti
OK, so that failed, it appears my phone cable is against me too

Certainly more profuse than mine. Do you have more than 1? I think I read they do better with a mateWoolsery said:OK, in the absence of anything substantial to report in the areas of weather or gardening activity, here's another picture of something that looks good in our garden at present. I have just the one, and it isn't even a named variety, just one of several raised from seed years ago and propagated by cuttings ever since. Do bear in mind everything berries often look more impressive in close up than realityPaspatur said:

Might try some from seed but think might have to be indoor propagator then windowsill since greenhouse in last month has varied from 37.2 to 0.4 and can hit between minus 3 and minus 6 in February1

Regarding your other mention of cow farts etc, it does make me wonder at times if they [politicians] realise just what they are doing, like shutting down power stations while not having a plan B. I have seen a hypothesis that the main problem is too few politicians with a scientific or engineering background but overwhelmingly lawyers and art subjectsWoolsery said:

Before this disappears....I used Google reverse image search and came up with Malus toringo. Here's a piccie from Barcham Trees at a pocket money price:
As you know, I'm well able to get into hot water without owning a hot tub, so I must choose my words carefully, but I believe if an 'older person' of modest intellect can work out the shape of the wood through a deliberate confusion of trees, those at the top must know what purpose their actions are really intended to serve.
Good to know you and Mum are still keeping going.in_my_wellies said:I'm still lurking but rarely have any time or anything useful to add as I'm still full time carer to mum, amazing how she keeps going.

Having been a carer, albeit only for a few years, I know it can be tough, and at times, a rather unrewarding situation. Don't forget to be kind to yourself too! 2 -
They might benefit from being outdoors through winter first, provided mice aren't a problem. I usually stratify hardy shrub seeds; after all, nature does!Paspatur said:Might try some from seed but think might have to be indoor propagator then windowsill since greenhouse in last month has varied from 37.2 to 0.4 and can hit between minus 3 and minus 6 in February
