Not much gardening done here today either.
We spent half the day taking DB's errant car to the garage 11 miles away and then picking it up again later, but at least the valley road's pretty.
Back at home, the stream has just started running again after at least 5 months absence. That shows how much water the land has absorbed. I took a photo of a classic cumulonimbus cloud, which I'll try to include here soon. In classic style, it produced a violent deluge and concluded with a rainbow of grand proportions. Sadly, I failed to capture that or the two Apache helicopters that appeared out of the sun at low level. I'd put my camera in the shed at the first sign of rain. All it needed was 'The Ride of the Valkyries' playing in the background!
Tuesday is military aircraft day here. Last week it was Tornadoes or Eurofighters chasing each other.2 -
I've done no gardening here either - hope you're all sat down for the shock!. A few mushrooms have appeared in my grass though, full grown and spongy looking.
I used to live near Coningsby and Tuesday was military aircraft day down there too. I used to love to watch them scittering around the sky on a clear day, it was a beautiful sightI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1 -
Here's my cloud photo. Doesn't look menacing enough, but I've resisted the temptation to use filters.Might get a little done today before the next wave of rain sweeps in. Things began well, though the red shades of dawn as I drove up from the station was a clue...4

Dry at the moment but more wind & rain on the way allegedly, apart from propping up the fallen castor oil plants no gardening here eitherMilitary aircraft is any day here, mainly Chinooks from RAF Odiham practising or doing something military transporting to somewhere, all a bit mysterious they seem to land or go down in woods in the far distance but nothing there I'm aware ofEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

The heartbreak of some heathen discovering your fave scrumping trees and stripping everything within reach, even though they weren’t just ripe yet! I only went to check how they were getting on and there’s nothing left below 10ft ☹️I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.1

That's awful blue!
But nothing new. My Great grandfather was hauled into the police for scrumping in his youth
.
Driving to the superstores in the dry part then torrential rain again. The cover has come off my compost bin that I wanted to paint but the bird table one has stayed on. Grateful for that.
Gutterl leak slightly less for cleaning out and i remembered to empty the bucket soo meah.
The tomatoes unsplit I gathered.
Neighbour mentioned using the split to smear on toast with garlic which sounds nice.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

For those of you unfamiliar with such things, here it is, though mine's a nice shade of burgundy. It's so brilliant, I wish I'd bought one 14 years ago!If we hadn't acted when we did, I think the 2 m chicken fence might be down now. The posts I drove in are temporary supports for the old, rotted ones we're due to replace next year. A length of builders' band screwed around both and the job's a good 'un.The rain and wind intensified after 14.00 and by 16.00 there was a tree down on the railway, so that was quick trip to Crediton, which was as far as DD2 could go. The joys of country living!

Great pic Woolsery. Looks like you have captured a lady (like the queen on a stamp facing left) in that cloud but that's mind matrixing for you!Just my opinion, no offence 🐈3 -

I can see what you mean about the lady BlackCat, like she's facing into the wind with her hair blowing out behind her.
I hope your gardens are all ok now the wind's gone. The only things I've got are not-JKW and the lavenders out the front, and they both survived. I haven't heard of any damage round here but I don't think we got the brunt of it.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2 -
